To wonder if sex has changed?

Lately it seems that any time anyone on tv has sex it's from behind. I'm sure it didn't use to be like that. And I can't work out if it's anal (which I wouldn't do in a month of Sundays) or just a different way of accessing the usual bits (which I don't mind). And what does the woman get out of it?

It feels like they changed things while I wasn't looking... did I miss a rule change? Am I impossibly old fashioned?

err... guess what's the difference titnomatani Hmm

BuntysTwinkle · 22/10/2020 01:41

Hold on, so there's a difference between doggy style and anal sex? I thought it was all the same thing?!

Different orifice, you'd probably be able to tell Grin

SuzieQQQ · 22/10/2020 05:02

People definitely still do have hair! I’m early 40s. A few of my friends get Brazilians. Most of us get everything off except for a tidy triangle at the front.

premiumchangeyour · 22/10/2020 05:12

I thought doggy style was on all fours and from behind was just from behind maybe leaning over

malificent7 · 22/10/2020 05:19

Not sure why this is an issue...doggy style is the best!

CutToChase · 22/10/2020 05:55

It's a symptom of the culture that has been creeping in over the past 10 years, in which women are increasingly reduced to their body, but this objectification is sold back to us as empowerment.

See woman on top, aka "look how fierce and in control she is!" In reality it's just so the camera captures more of her body to sell the film or series.

garlictwist · 22/10/2020 06:06

When I became newly single about ten years ago one of my (male) friends loftily informed me that "everyone does anal now" and that if I wasn't keen I'd struggle to get a new bloke. Thankfully that wasn't the case.

Graciebobcat · 22/10/2020 06:15

It hasn't changed in the things I watch but then I avoid anything with overly sexualised, gratuitous content. 99% of sex scenes are unneccessary and terrible, and I feel embarrassed for the actors. I have never understood why people want to watch other people having sex. It's something that can easily be implied, like they don't need to show when the character goes to the toilet or eats every meal.

emilyfrost · 22/10/2020 07:42

I am proud to admit I do have a trimmed but full bush!

IamAporcupine Why would you be proud to admit that? Confused

StarlightLady · 22/10/2020 08:04

Not so much sex having changed as film techology. For simulated sex in a film, doggie is probably less intimate for the actors because their heads are further apart.

I always get more puzzled by those triangular sheets in north American films that expose a man’s chest but cover a woman’s breast as if it was something sinful. Equally bewildering are those scenes showing seemingly passionate sex in underwear or nighwear.

I enjoy sex in a variety of positions, including doggie, that’s normal and depicted that way in films.

Pubic hair; l have chosen to remove imine since my teens (40s now). I no more want a hairy pubic area, than l do hairy armpits. Some close friends remove theirs, (wine bar talk!) some don’t. But it’s nothing new. Hair removal was practiced by the Ancient Romans and Ancient Greeks and a service iffered in their bath houses.

This thread has me howling with laughter!
Thanks OP- just love it -Mumsnet at its best -thought it was all just misery threads now!

There was some guidance in Scotland about this during lockdown. It advocated positions not facing one another and mutual masturbation 😳

Needless to say I can't find it now.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 22/10/2020 08:47

I’m Grin at the idea of dogs all doing each other frantically up the arse.

MrsHSW · 22/10/2020 09:16

I'm pretty sure they do this for the camera angles. But maybe it is a more common position these days? No problem with seeing sex in films/TV, but do agree about it being unrealistic. Looks like it would hurt! Some shows do it well though.

I think women are led to belive that we are all hairless now, but not the case - even if you regularly wax it grows back fairly quickly and you'll have stubble? In my circles it's definitely going the other way. Also...surely people have been foregoing their waxes of late due to covid (and saving a fortune!)?

Lovewineandchocolate · 22/10/2020 09:50

My In Laws would start frantically stroking Tibby the cat, or would go and put the kettle on.

Loving this thread Smile

The above also made me laugh. Is 'frantically stroking Tibby' a new euphemism Grin

Ok. Hmm
StarlightLady · 22/10/2020 10:04

@MrsHSW - Regrowth after waxing is more akin to a soft fur rather than stubble.

rattusrattus20 · 22/10/2020 10:19

On TV It's quite often so you can get a good shot of both actors' faces. A couple of the GOT 'sexposition' scenes were done like this.

It's interesting that there's so much more sex on TV nowawadays but [e.g. compared to the 80s or 90s] so much less in big budget cinema films. I remember reading that 'fifty shades freed' was the only film that year to need an 18 certificate for sexual content. Anyway...

IamAporcupine · 22/10/2020 11:49

I am proud to admit I do have a trimmed but full bush!

IamAporcupine Why would you be proud to admit that? Confused

eh?! why wouldn't I? it's my body (and hair) in its natural form!

maybe proud is a bit too strong a word but still...

ApplePlumPie · 22/10/2020 12:07

It's a symptom of the culture that has been creeping in over the past 10 years, in which women are increasingly reduced to their body, but this objectification is sold back to us as empowerment

This sums it up perfectly!

GilbertMarkham · 22/10/2020 12:41

If everyone does it, he wouldn't mind having a dildo shoves up his own ass then, would he?

In fact pegging with a large dildo is my suggestion for any man who wants a woman to do anal. If it's such fun and do enjoyable, they'd enjoy it, would they not? And they even have a type of g spot in here don't they, which we don't.

GilbertMarkham · 22/10/2020 12:42

*in there

GilbertMarkham · 22/10/2020 12:46

Wtaf.

MitziK · 22/10/2020 12:58

On TV, it's done so they can get more jiggling tit shots in.

Few more borderline hand near throat shots, too.
