How much did you pay for a new boiler in a traditional sized 1930s semi?

Am I being unreasonable to ask? Grin

This won’t be relevant to you but it might male you feel better when you hear what I paid for my oil fired boiler now that lots of lovely new regs have come in. 3 bedroom cottage. 12k. I sincerely hope you’ll pay less!

psilyu · 06/10/2020 17:13

We paid 3k for a Baxter combi boiler 2 years ago

psilyu · 06/10/2020 17:14

Baxi *

Letsnotargue · 06/10/2020 17:14

We swapped an old gravity system with hot water tank etc for a combi - kept all the old radiators etc. We went for top capacity boiler so we can have a decent shower. £2700 all in.

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 06/10/2020 17:15

Surrey, just under £3k last year. 3 bed, 1930s semi. Hope that helps!

RincewindsHat · 06/10/2020 17:16

£2800 for a Vaillant Ecotec gas combi boiler last year (including installation).

SweatyBetty20 · 06/10/2020 17:18

I'm paranoid about my boiler going and not having enough money to get a new one so asked my boiler engineer exactly this about a month ago! He said £3k all in would get you a top notch combi (Manchester prices).

FraughtwithGin · 06/10/2020 17:20

Paid about €3k 4 years ago, Viessmann combi gas boiler, largish, old house. With I had done it years ago!

Mirrorxx · 06/10/2020 17:21

1800 from boxt last year

Mylittlesandwich · 06/10/2020 17:24

2k supplied and fitted at the start of the year. It's a small one though because we have a small house and the shower is electric.

comingintomyown · 06/10/2020 17:27

Worcester Bosch 3.5k all in

WeAllHaveWings · 06/10/2020 17:30

3 years ago. Worcester approved fitter, changed from system to combi, magnetic filter, removed tank, power flushed system, installed 4 thermostat valves to upstairs radiators. £2.5k

AgileMadness · 06/10/2020 17:34

@SweatyBetty20 I could have written your post word for word. I think our boiler is on its last legs.
We're in the NW as well. Any chance you could share your boiler engineer's details please?

SweatyBetty20 · 06/10/2020 17:46

@AgileMadness it’s Glowarm DSP in Rochdale - don’t think they have a website but they are on all the check-a-trade type websites. Father and son business and time served.

Rach000 · 06/10/2020 17:48

We had to replace ours at the start of the year. Was annoyed as the one we had wasnt that old but the guy we used for the new one said it wasnt a very good one and a main part had gone so wasnt worth repairing!
We are in a 3 bed end terrace, about 1930s as well. Think we paid about 1500 for the boiler fitting but didnt need thermostats as already had decent ones. Guess it wasnt as bad as it could have been. We just used a local guy my husband knew from school. So prob got a good deal.

theluckiest · 06/10/2020 17:57

3 bed end of terrace here. Had a new Worcester Bosch fitted a few weeks ago.

Old tank & pipework removed, new one and a lot of (very pretty) copper pipework fitted. £2500 from Boxt.

Brilliant service, place left spotless afterwards, couldn't be happier.

AgeLikeWine · 06/10/2020 18:10

Ours is a Worcester Bosch combi and it cost around £1500 in 2019. We are very happy with it.

Keep1984fiction · 06/10/2020 18:16

There are grants for new boilers available at the moment if you are on certain benefits.
Don't know if this applies to you but may be worth checking out

Pretty much exactly the same - with some old pipework replaced for new copper. I'm in NW England
Standrewsschool · 06/10/2020 18:21

Thanks for this thread. We lan to replace our boiler soon.

AgileMadness · 06/10/2020 18:32

Thanks @SweatyBetty20

thevassal · 06/10/2020 18:42

£2000 for a baxi combi including fitting and removal of the old style one with water tanks in the attic and bedroom. includes 7 year warranty.

Ponoka7 · 06/10/2020 18:43

My DD has just got her boiler from Yorkshire Boilers (we are in Liverpool). She pays £32 a, month for 10 years. She got a free nest and she gets a full service and insurance cover for the whole term.

It works out £3840.

Itstheprinciple · 06/10/2020 18:46

Had ours done last month - £1150 Inc installation. Seems like a bargain compared to others!

notanothertakeaway · 06/10/2020 18:50

I think we paid approx £1200 in 2011 for a Vaillant boiler and it's been brilliant

I've often heard that Vaillant and Worcester Bosch are known to be the most reliable brands. I think I heard that engineers prefer one of those brands over the other, as they're easier to service / repair
