How much did you pay for a new boiler in a traditional sized 1930s semi?

Am I being unreasonable to ask? Grin

Worcester Bosch, 4 bed Victorian house, plus new tank, pump and two zone valves, £4000.

ErrolFinn · 06/10/2020 18:52

We got a new Worcester boiler last month for our 3 bed end of terrace house. Supply and fitting was £1600

Pedallleur · 06/10/2020 18:54

1800 for an Alpha a few weeks ago incl fitting. 3 bed bungalow

amusedbush · 06/10/2020 18:57

DH's uncle is a heating engineer, he fitted our central heating system (we inherited a house which didn't have CH) including combi boiler about a year ago for £3000.

Anjo2011 · 06/10/2020 19:03

We had a new tank and boiler fitted in the summer by British Gas. 4 bed detached house. £5300 this included hive which I didn’t want but I now love !

pudcat · 06/10/2020 19:03

We had a new combi boiler put in airing cupboard upstairs and old boiler in kitchen taken out. Plus new raditors in every room - a total of 12 for £5000

Tarantallegra · 06/10/2020 19:12

About 2k for a Worcester Bosch combi in a 3 bed semi. Hive was thrown in which I now couldn't live without - Gloucestershire. The bigger companies were all quoting 3k upwards ('and turned up late or were no shows). Went with a small family run business recommended to me by a friend, so glad we did as their price was the best and their workmanship was excellent.

MyCatReallyIsAGit · 06/10/2020 19:16

We did this at the beginning of the year. 3 bed 30s semi in SE. We had the hot water tank and immersion heater removed, a new combi boiler (GloWorm) fitted in the same space, some new pipe work under the bath, and 7 new radiators. Total cost of everything was £4.3k.

We did it at fairly short notice and didn’t shop around as much as we might have done, because the old one was on its last legs (and indeed died the week before installation). But we were using a trusted and highly recommended fitter and were very happy with everything.

ivykaty44 · 06/10/2020 19:24

@thevassal That just slightly more than I’ve been quoted for same boiler

Had ours done last week. Baxi combi boiler. And quite a complicated installation. And removal of old tanks etc £2.5k

ivykaty44 · 06/10/2020 19:27

My boiler is 17/18years old and apparently the average age is 10-15 so it’s done well

£3,000 - £3,500. Not Victorian semi but 2 bed end terrace. That price is boiler only, not for radiators.

Murinae · 06/10/2020 19:33

We paid £1900 for a biggish Baxi Boiler last year. It’s one that works with our megaflow water tank.

SeptemberAlexandra · 06/10/2020 19:37

We paid £5,500 for our Worcester Bosch Greenstar boiler for 1930’s 4 bed detached last year.

BeansMeansWines · 06/10/2020 19:41

In Jan we paid £2870 for a Vaillant ecotec new install with radiators in 3 bed terrace.

There are currently significant grants going for green heating solutions. Worth looking into.

BeansMeansWines · 06/10/2020 19:44

Ps our £2870 guy was a cowboy. Took a lot of pushing to get it wired in properly and then a pipe started leaking Through the ceiling a week later. He was in lanzarote so I managed to fix it myself. Wish we’d spent the extra £700 on the guy who seemed super thorough with detailed diagrams and a 10 year warranty instead of 7.

Mindymomo · 06/10/2020 19:45

A traditional boiler will be more expensive than a combi boiler, as combi boilers have on average a lifespan of 7/10 years. We had a traditional worcester boiler fitted last year with new hot tank for £3,000. My brother is having a Glowworm combi boiler for £1,400, he went for this one as it had a 7 year guarantee, or he could have got another one for £1,200. We are in Surrey.

TH22 · 06/10/2020 19:52

£4K for a combi boiler in a Victorian terrace :(

Rebelwithallthecause · 06/10/2020 19:53

£2200 Worcester Bosch 30i from Boxt

(I would recommend)

I’d had quotes from local independents at £3400+

40somethingJBJ · 06/10/2020 19:56

In the middle of having one fitted right now (old one out, new one in tomorrow = freezing!) - old boiler with separate hot water tank removed and replaced with a shiny new, black, glossy Worcester combi boiler. Local plumber, East Midlands area and it’s costing me just under £2,400

The80sweregreat · 06/10/2020 19:56

2k about two years ago. (Already had a new part so I'm they are not built to last obviously! )
7 year warranty.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 06/10/2020 19:57

2300 for baxi combi &a new radiator in the hall. And a nest thermostat. Got our local heating guy to do it.

Warrington quoted us £4500!

Babysharkdoodoodood · 06/10/2020 19:58

Otterhound · 06/10/2020 20:01

I think about £1700 for a non combi boiler last year (35kw Bosch) and £1000 to fit. smaller one might be £1200. Fitting the will be same price.

Hollowtree3 · 06/10/2020 20:11

New Worcester boiler fitted in new location (loft) via EON and a Government scheme for a total bargain of £800. More folk should know about this.
