Name changed for this, in case people think I’m nutty.
I ended up watching a few Uk column reports on YouTube after people had posted bits on YouTube, mainly just out of curiosity.
Has anyone seen this? Thoughts?
It’s made me totally anxious with what’s going on in the world, talks of military dining into the country and Ireland..why?
I already feel anxious about the strangeness in the world at the moment and really shouldn’t have watched it!
Are they all talking nonsense or is there something in it?

*Coming into the country-stupid phone!

Probably a conspiracy theory.

Watch the social dilemma on Netflix, and take any video you see on YouTube or Facebook with a pinch of salt.

Whatsgoingon77 · 30/09/2020 15:37

@Hobnobsandbroomstick They said military have been sent in etc..is that made up, of not, why have they 🤷🏻‍♀️None of it makes sense.

Mixed Factual Reporting - Not always Credible

CONSPIRACY-PSEUDOSCIENCE
Sources in the Conspiracy-Pseudoscience category may publish unverifiable information that is not always supported by evidence. These sources may be untrustworthy for credible/verifiable information, therefore fact checking and further investigation is recommended on a per article basis when obtaining information from these sources. See all Conspiracy-Pseudoscience sources.

Factual Reporting: MIXED

Notes: UK Column is an alternative multimedia news website and associated British newspaper which was launched in January 2006. UK Column is headquartered in Plymouth in South West England. Mike Robinson is editor of the UK Column and Brian Gerrish is the Author/Editor/Owner of the UK Column Newspaper. Further, Brian Gerrish has appeared on US conspiracy theorist Alex Jones show.^

In review, UK Column uses loaded language both in their headlines and articles such as: ”Cameron and Obama’s Hired Thugs Now Butchering Their Way Through Syria.” This article, like many on the website, does not link to a single source. However, they sometimes utilize credible sources such as the NY Times, gov.uk and factually mixed sources such as the Daily Mail and conspiracy sites such as 21st Century Wire: “White Helmets.” When covering USA politics the UK Column favors Donald Trump and his policies. They also promote conspiracy theories such as the New World Order, False Flag Operations and World War 3. While the UK Column does produce credible, well sourced news, they also promote conspiracy theories. Therefore, we rate UK Column as a Conspiracy website that is Mixed for factual reporting. (M. Stop watching shite on YouTube. Seriously. Any people can put any shite up on the platform, without fact checking or any journalistic standards whatsoever.

I could make a video right now saying that Covid was brought to earth by little green men from Uranus and there's nothing stopping me doing so.

slashlover · 30/09/2020 15:41

It's a conspiracy site. Did they post any links? Anything to back up their nonsense?

BrazenlyDefying · 30/09/2020 15:42

Conspiracy level - strong.

Whatsgoingon77 · 30/09/2020 15:44

It’s seems so real, if that makes sense 😬

Hobnobsandbroomstick · 30/09/2020 15:44

@Whatsgoingon77

Why would they post it? No idea, but there are people who believe the world is flat thanks to seeing conspiracy videos on YouTube. Not everything you see on the internet is true.

slashlover · 30/09/2020 15:45

Here is an article from their site www.ukcolumn.org/article/the-hydroxychloroquine-scandal

Pushing hydroxychloroquine
Mention of Bill Gates
Crapping on the mainstream media
Pushes Prof. Didier Raoult who has been found to be talking nonsense.

FeminismIsForALLWomen · 30/09/2020 15:46

They said military have been sent in etc..is that made up, of not, why have they

People make things up for lots of reasons. You can't just believe everything you see online because you can't see a reason why someone would make it up, you really need to be looking for reports which are fact based and can give credible sources.

Facebook and YouTube are not credible news sources and have been used quite extensively to spread conspiracy theories and lies.

Hingeandbracket · 30/09/2020 15:51

hey said military have been sent in etc..is that made up
Yes it is made up
why have they
They have an agenda - part of it is a desire to sow the seeds of doubt and mistrust everywhere.
None of it makes sense.
Correct. It makes no sense because it is utter bollocks.

Whatsgoingon77 · 30/09/2020 15:52

They have news footage of the military etc, can see how they could put a different angle on that, but also if they really are here, why then 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
Hingeandbracket · 30/09/2020 15:56

They have news footage of the military etc, can see how they could put a different angle on that,
Anyone can get footage of anything - it might not even be UK military or it could be archive film from a previous parade etc then stick up a "breaking news" banner on it to make it appear as if it is current.

but also if they really are here, why then
They aren't.

slashlover · 30/09/2020 15:58

Their website has two donation buttons on the front page - you can pay £3/month, £30/year or £300 for a lifetime. You get 1% of their Youtube audience (56k) to sign up for the £30 deal than that's £17000 per year. Some of their youtube videos are also monetised so they will be earning from that too.

FeminismIsForALLWomen · 30/09/2020 15:58

*They have news footage of the military etc, can see how they could put a different angle on that, but also if they really are here, why then"

Footage of military doing something doesn't actually mean that they're doing what these 'reporters' say they're doing. It could have been taken by anyone, at any time, in any place for lots of reasons and then used by these conspiracy theorists to try to make people believe them.

Do you mean UK military? Because some of them are always here, surely? And if it's foreign military you can get footage of that anywhere.

frumpety · 30/09/2020 15:59

Whose military and where and when ?

slashlover · 30/09/2020 16:01

They have news footage of the military etc, can see how they could put a different angle on that, but also if they really are here, why then

Why on earth would they be the ONLY place to report that? Something like that would be ALL OVER twitter approximately 10 seconds after it happened?

Whatsgoingon77 · 30/09/2020 16:01

Ok thanks all, they’re pretty convincing! So they do all this for money..or they’re paranoid themselves

OP posts:
GabsAlot · 30/09/2020 16:03

the military is always here

Hobnobsandbroomstick · 30/09/2020 16:04

The military are here all the time, doing things like delivering PPE to hospitals, and previously helping when places flooded, covering the fire service when they went on strike, the security at the London Olympics etc.

What exactly were they doing in the video?

GabsAlot · 30/09/2020 16:04

and dont follow david icke either

FeminismIsForALLWomen · 30/09/2020 16:05

There have been a couple of studies done on people who believe conspiracy theories, it's fascinating and also very worrying the extent to which they will go to justify their beliefs to themselves, and they can be very convincing.

Just please don't ever get news from Facebook again Grin

MaskingForIt · 30/09/2020 16:06

The U.K. military are in the U.K. apart from the ones who are currently serving overseas.

U.K. military personnel have been utilised during the Covid crisis to work in hospitals (as many do on a day-to-day basis anyway), test centres and for logistical support.

Why are you so afraid of the military?
