To go to a&e if shes still limping in an hour?

DD, almost 2 year old, started limping quite badly about an hour ago. No fall, no bumps, no tears, just stood up and starting limping. She cant weightbare on that leg and it's so bad she keeps wobbling over with it. I've rung the Drs who said they would get a dr to call me back but as yet I've not had a call.
DD seems generally ok in her self if I bit miffed she cant run around and confused she keeps falling.
I'm not usually one to worry too much, more of a 'ah shell be fine in an hour' but something is making me feel a bit worried about this..

I would call 111 and see what they suggest.

My son did this...he had a cold, and then once recovered he lost the use of his legs. I got a panicked call from nursery to come collect her. Completely random. And it came back within a few days.

My GP said it wasn't uncommon.

I'd wait for a call and then try 111. A&E on a Friday night during covid times is not always the most fun place to be.

Possibly Minor injuries rather than A&e, usually faster and if they think she needs an x ray, they can sort out or refer you to the right place. Facilities vary from place to place.

Shes not been unwell or anything so it's all just very odd. Shes wasnt even running round going crazy like usual. She literally just stood up and couldn't walk.
I'll give 111 a ring and see what they say

She doesn't seem in a lot of pain and you don't think anything is broken? I really don't see how this warrants emergency medical dare.

I would take her to doctors or clinic if it persists next week but not A & E

Has she banged her head at all? I would want her seen today by a medical professional, and GP will probably advise hospital so taking her to A&E (or phoning for an appointment if that’s what they’re doing now in your area) sounds reasonable.

Well it is very unusual for a child to suddenly not be able to walk....!

This happened DS at 23 months. GP referred us to the hospital, had an xray and ultrasound. Nothing out of the ordinary. The limp resolved in about a week

When I was about 8, I broke my thumb & then in A&E having it seen to, my legs completely lost any strength & they had to wheel me about. Fine by next morning but really odd! Agree with 111.

I wouldn't go to a&e if she's not in pain. She might have been sat funny and given herself a 'dead leg'. Ring the GP back in an hour if no improvement.

She hasn't stepped in an insect and been bitten, or got a splinter or thorn in the sole of her foot?

My dd had this at about 2, and again 6 weeks later, not long after a cold. I did go to the GP the second time, who suggested "irritable hip syndrome" - more common in boys. It never came back, so I think it was true. He advised taking her back if it recurred again.

I think A&E is extreme. No sign of pain or swelling? Have you checked her toes and bottom of her feet, she could have a thorn or a little stone that's hurting when she tries to weight bare. Maybe shes got a trapped nerve, try googling some stretches for her joints. If theres no pain or swelling then I dont see how its A&E standard

Sounds like irritable hip (transient synovitis)

She does need evaluating to be sure it isn't an infection of the joint. Bloods and an Xray as minimum.

There are several things it could be, some minor, some not so minor. If it doesn't go away I would get her checked just for peace of mind

I've just checked my call log an I rung the GP an hour ago so its actually been an hour an a half almost since first starting limping, it's not got any better or worse.

I've checked her over and no stones, thorns or splinters. At the time we were colouring so I did initially think a dead leg but it's been quite a while. She didnt hit her head or anything immediately before but this morning she was climing on the sofa when she just started screaming and was hysterical. I thought maybe she had bit herself but It could be related?

Hmm I would be wondering if there was a fall you didn't see? My neice did exactly this and turned out she had broken her leg.
My ds is the same age as yours and iif I were you I would probably take him to a and e at this point

I've also measured her feet (start right shoes and measuring thing) just to check it wasnt caused by her shoes and they seem fine too

Sounds like a hip problem. I would take her to a minor injuries unit or to a&e. She may just have a high pain threshold.

My son lad this last summer. One minute he was fine, the next he was crying and limping. Something was clearly hurting him and he was walking like a little old man. We took him to A&E and they gave him a dose of calpol, we waited around for ages and then were sent home. They just told us to come back if it went on for any longer than a few days or if he developed any other symptoms. I still dont know what caused it as he hadn't hurt himself but his hip/leg just randomly started hurting. 🤷🏻‍♀️
