Trump used manipulation and race-baiting four years ago. He’s at it again. We are weary and worried but we shall persist.

Noooo! I know that's a joke, but I'm pretty sure outright sending money to voters is illegal in the US.

(Might vary per state or something.)

Per a previous link, the Florida AG is getting hot under the collar about Bloomberg discharging court debts that were disqualifying former prisoners from voting (new law). Actual direct payments to individuals will almost certainly be illegal.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 29/09/2020 21:41

Ooops! I didn't mean something monetary, I meant a targetted letter telling them they had been targetted in this way by the GOP to get them not to vote. If it were me, I'd be hopping mad about it, and absolutely determined to vote this time, and vote against Trump.

This has been bubbling away in the background.

Anyone for presidential debate bingo?

Just dropping in with a West Wing quote in honour of tonight’s debate:

Oh mio, oh myo, oh Cleveland Ohio!

I hope to goodness it’s not an utter car crash, I can’t bear to watch and will catch up on the “highlights” tomorrow.

BruceAndNosh · 29/09/2020 22:24

My Bingo card includes for Trump...
CHYNA virus
Obama spied on my campaign
Law and order (or possibly Lauren Author if someone's earpiece plays up)
Why wouldn't you take a blood test?
Second Amendment
Crookeder than Crooked Hillary
Socialist State
Record Economy
Lowest death rates from covid
My penis is bigger than Biden's penis

(I admit the last one is a bit of a outside chance)

FL is filled with retired folks and Trump loves to tell them coronavirus is not a big deal. I can’t help but think they will be too sick to vote, thanks to Trump.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 29/09/2020 23:15

Sorry spelling ...Roussette

I'm planning to stay up and watch the debate on the Guardian live stream.

HoldMyLobster · 29/09/2020 23:45

@blueberrypie0112

FL is filled with retired folks and Trump loves to tell them coronavirus is not a big deal. I can’t help but think they will be too sick to vote, thanks to Trump.
My neighbour winters in Florida, and this year she stayed there for the whole year. She lives in a big housing association full of retired folks, and they have been so careful I think they still haven't had a case of Covid even with hundreds of them living there.

She's actually a massive Trump fan but she also tells everyone they should be wearing masks.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/09/2020 00:49

Another pmk just in time for the debate as this had fallen off my TIO.

Roussette · 30/09/2020 01:44

Here I am ready to watch! It's being covered everywhere and I've chosen BBC news channel at the moment, because they've just had Bob Woodward on. Interesting interview. Very scathing towards Trump.

They are saying just 14% of the electorate are undecided.

The audience is there, some red Trump face masks, all socially distanced.

Bruce I think you've covered it nicely with the bingo.

I just want Biden to say $750 at every opportunity as Trump hates talking about his finances in this vein. Tax dodger. I hope Biden lands some low punches on this.

Roussette · 30/09/2020 01:49

And just announced Biden paid $288,000 in tax in 2018. Little different to $750....

lionheart · 30/09/2020 02:02

Not sure how long I'll last.

Roussette · 30/09/2020 02:03

That should read 2019 and not 2018
Biden and Harris just released what they had paid in tax prior to this debate

BruceAndNosh · 30/09/2020 02:03

Note all junior Trumps not wearing masks.
Melania is, so no one can see her smirk if Donald gets whupped

Roussette · 30/09/2020 02:04

Nor me lion !

BruceAndNosh · 30/09/2020 02:13

Oh dear, Not a great start by Biden. His cogent argument sounds a bit rambling compared to Trump's soundbite (which he's actually used at least twice before verbatim)

JamieLeeCurtains · 30/09/2020 02:15

Wallace has got to get a grip on this.

He's letting Trump talk over him, and Biden.

JamieLeeCurtains · 30/09/2020 02:17

Wallace may need to turn Trump's mic off when Biden is having his turn.

PhoebeSnow · 30/09/2020 02:23

Jamie that is an excellent point, surely that can be done so both sides get a fair chance to speak.

AcrossthePond55 · 30/09/2020 02:25

Quote of the night:

"Will you shut up, man!"

I love Biden. So far he's called Scrotus a liar and a clown.

I think my Bingo card is full.

Roussette · 30/09/2020 02:28

Trump is holding his own, but Biden is challenging him. Although he did tell Trump to shut up.!
We are now on Covid, Biden holds the trump cards here...

Trump looks very sweaty.

Chynnnaaa.... I've saved all these millions of lives by closing the border.

I was phenomenal, I did a pheneomenal job.

Bingo ' Fake News'

No Biden is pulling on heartstrings talking on Covid. Quite rightly.

Trump is shouting over Biden more. And Biden needs to do that more
