'Top officials at The White House pressured leaders at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to downplay the risk of coronavirus to children as President Trump's administration pushed to reopen schools this fall, according to a new report.
Citing documents and interviews with current and former government officials, the New York Times reported Tuesday the push included an effort to find data suggesting the pandemic was weakening and the coronavirus did not threaten children. '
I also noticed that they're about to make billions or is it trillions of fast tests available to schools.
I mean, that would be great - we do need them, and the lack of them has prevented us being able to open fully despite being in an area with low infection rates.
But couldn't they have done that a few months ago when we were making all the plans for reopening, and were screaming for more testing?
Ironically, many of those tests are being made right near where I live, in labs managed by people whose kids are in our local schools, but we've had no access to the tests.
As for info coming out of the CDC, I don't know about other states, but our state CDC is reviewing everything very carefully, and advising the state Dept of Education and schools based on its findings. It's the state CDC that schools are looking to for guidance.
