Or is there something odd about the Speakmans

What's the story with the Speakmans? Something doesn't sit right with me... Their "therapy" is miraculously quick at "treating" people with phobias of many years. Today on This Morning they helped a woman with a huge needle phobia which was preventing her getting cancer treatment. The female Speakman commented on how long the treatment was taking and then mentioned it had been a whole "4 hours." Just doesn't seem right and they both look like I wouldn't buy a 2nd hand car from them...

"Terrifying someone with a spider" is called 'flooding'. It's a recognised tactic re phobia treatment. ( Avoidabce doesn't make you face or overcome frmear, it heightens it). Asking what has a snake done to you is a recognised psych tactic of questioning reasons , or, erroneously held beliefs re your fear/ phobia. I think it's him that's creepy tbh, the weird haircut he had for years didn't help. She's fine, she doesn't need him, she'd be more user friendly, TV wise on her own IMO.

Just googled their qualifications. According to a recent article in the Guardian they both have 'diplomas from Newcastle University'. So that could be a post grad Diploma in Counselling which is a 2 year course . You have to do Level 2 & 3 Counselling to be accepted for the Diploma ( both are 6 month part time courses) .

I'm afraid I am also very sceptical. I don't see how a 40 year old phobia can be cured in ten minutes.

I just don't buy it.
