i am bloated after every.single.meal. or snack even!! there's no correlation to specific things, it's just EVERYTHING, and it's really getting me down. i can cope with the feeling, but i can't wear anything i want because as soon as i eat, my stomach bloats up and pokes out. in the past, i would just not eat before going out, but i want to just be able to eat what i want and go out afterwards without looking like this!! it's so embarrassing, and really affects my self esteem Sad it's been happening for at least 4 years, i developed an ed in this time, which was partly due to this bloating i believe, because if i didn't eat, i couldn't get bloated, and my stomach would look flat everyday. if anyone has any suggestions please tell me Sad.

I don’t know and have developed a permanently bloated tummy, albeit worse after eating. I’m wondering about trying no caffeine or dairy. GP thinks it may be gallstones, which I have and have mild symptoms. If so surgery is the answer. I’ll be following:(

If I avoid wheat the bloating goes.

I rarely avoid wheat Blush

hulahooper2 · 17/08/2020 20:52

Avoid bread

hamstersarse · 17/08/2020 20:53

Go low carb no junk

monkeyonthetable · 17/08/2020 20:55

Cutting out wheat and sugar, and cutting down on other carbs and alcohol. Massive difference. No bloat at all if I do all of these and far less bloating if I steer away from wheat.

Positively · 17/08/2020 20:58

Gluten, onions and garlic. I have omitted gluten from about 90% of my diet will eat it out or if someone else cooks for me. Look at the FODMAP foods. It was a revelation for me, bloating and constipation has finally gone Smile. Not super strict but really aware no of the things to reduce or avoid on certain days.

ladymuck111 · 17/08/2020 20:58

Definitely cut out bread/pasta I did the other week for 10'days and I lost 5lb and was not bloated at all

sugagi · 17/08/2020 21:03

i was vegan for over a year, so no animal products whatsoever - still horribly bloated, i also tried a gluten free diet for about a month and i felt even more bloated than before! Sad i very very rarely drink alcohol, literally at christmas and new years, and only a glass of champagne/wine.

Low carb for my T2D helped the bloatiness go away!

notnearlythereyet · 17/08/2020 21:24

@sugagi have you thought about food intolerance testing? It made a huge difference to me! Turns out I can’t have cows milk, cheese etc. but that was such a small price to pay for the difference in my digestion.

MoreHairyThanScary · 17/08/2020 21:39

Mine is exacerbated by stress, ( and bread) ice eat the same from one day to another and I might bloat or I might not.

Colpermine ( peppermint oil based tablets) help me loads to reduce the bloat but are taken after eating

Whatcanido121 · 17/08/2020 21:44

As poster above, peppermint oil capsules (but mine are taken an hour before food) I was so uncomfortable after eating, I would bloat after an apple!

I wished I tried them sooner. 1 capsule 3 times a day.

ILoveFood87 · 17/08/2020 21:50

Mines things like bread, potatoes and pasta. I've cut them out and the bloating so much better. Hope you manage to sort it OP X

mumwon · 17/08/2020 22:08

peppermint oil capsules should be taken about half an hour BEFORE eating & don't lie down immediately after (read instructions) (I use Mintec capsules) Veggie diet isn't helpful - ie onions beans Nuts cabbage tribe veg, things like turnips all create wind (harder to digest re pp FODMAP diet) I find as a meat eater I can't eat too much meat either. Small frequent meals no fizzy drinks. Peppermint tea can help caffeinated drinks are something you should restrict as well. Soya being a bean is difficult to digest ditto chickpeas & lentils

JaceLancs · 17/08/2020 22:12

I totally cut out wheat and most other things containing gluten
Bloating gone
IBS massively improved
Made it easier to lose weight too
I’ve never looked back!

willowtree81 · 17/08/2020 22:13

Cut out dairy. Feel so much better.

DotForShort · 17/08/2020 22:16

Yoga and probiotics have helped me. Also limiting dairy products, though I haven’t cut them out completely.

CuntyMcBollocks · 17/08/2020 22:17

I have the same problem. I've tried cutting out different things but to no avail. Its so bloody painful being so bloated.

crimsonlake · 17/08/2020 22:27

Same issue here, no matter what I eat I bloat, I think I tried charcoal tablets once, may now try the peppermint oil. The heat also seems to make me swell.

Wowcherarestalkingme · 17/08/2020 22:30

Charcoal tablets worked for me. Took one as soon as I felt the bloat coming on and it goes away

HeartZone · 17/08/2020 22:32

Cutting out water WITH a meal. Now eat my lunch with no drink.

Also, chatting through lunch. Trying to chat less and eating/ chewing more slowly.

This has definitely helped me.

LeoTimmyandVi · 17/08/2020 22:48

Low car.b for me. I have chronic IBS and used to be fit to burst in the evening. Much more comfy now.

SmileEachDay · 17/08/2020 22:54

If it’s that pronounced OP it might be worth getting the GP to check you out.

blue25 · 17/08/2020 22:56

Low carb. No sugar.

Itstheprinciple · 17/08/2020 22:58

I started having kefir every day.
