Sorry a really boring one but wanted to get some ideas

I am in desperate need for new pillows, we currently have a mismatch of cheap pillows an expensive but too soft one and a mid price dunelm one

The biggest issue I have is finding some which can fit inside pillow protectors and then pillow case (I dribble sorry tmi) and lots of the nice ones are too thick to fit in both Sad

I bought premier Inn firm pillows recently and so far they've been really comfortable. They come with a pillow protector too which was an added bonus.

My neck is very fussy about pillows - the wrong one can have me waking up in agony. I have the Tempur Cloud one and love it. I have since bought 3 more for family members. It is several years old now and the support is still perfect. Worth every penny.

BertiesLanding · 17/09/2020 15:44

It depends - so I have a few pillows: two goose-down pillows (firm), one very soft pillow (feather), and one orthopedic pillow (UTTU). The last one, I hardly use because I'm a front-sleeper and like to have my arm under my head.

I spent oodles on a Tempur Cloud pillow, and it was awful. Jack-knifed my neck every night and squashed my ear.

BertiesLanding · 17/09/2020 15:44

I also have a banana pillow.

MaMaLa321 · 17/09/2020 16:11

My pillows are OK (though I've forgotten where they came from) but what is much more important is my pillow routine....
Get into bed, put one pillow on the floor. Go to sleep. Get up in the middle of the night to have a wee and change pillows. The unused one is lovely and cool.
The thread reminds me of Trains, Planes and Automobiles.

Dunlopillo. Hypoallergenic, don’t go flat even at the ends.

QueenPaws · 17/09/2020 16:39

Mine is v v old so can't help! It's flat - I had spinal surgery and they told me to use as flat a pillow as possible to keep my back and neck in line. It was bliss after months of sleeping without a pillow though!
I do have a woolroom duvet which I adore so might be worth looking at their pillows

Premier Inn pillows are amazing and not too expensive

AgeLikeWine · 17/09/2020 16:47

I have asthma & allergies so I buy cheapo synthetic ‘anti-allergy’ pillows and replace them every few months.

Not ideal from an environmental perspective, obv, but I need to be able to sleep and, even more importantly, breathe.

edgeware · 17/09/2020 16:48

Tempur. People bitching about the cost are fools. I’ve had the same pillow for years now, no discomfort or neckpain anymore ever. If that’s not worth £90...

SurreyHillsGirl · 17/09/2020 17:08

This one. My DH has one too and they are amazing. We slept on similar pillows during our honeymoon and tracked these down when we got home. Sleeping on a big pillow feels so luxurious. Like expensive hotel bed quality. Yes they are pretty pricey but when we go back to regular size pillows at friends’ houses, they just compare.

SurreyHillsGirl · 17/09/2020 17:09

*dont compare

Havaiana · 17/09/2020 17:12

The IKEA Angsund (sp?) pillow protectors are enormous and dwarf my large pillows. They’re £3-4 each.

I had a Tempur cloud pillow (on sale at £56) but was too high. Now have the Dunelm orthopaedic pillow and it’s fine, was £16.

CandidaAlbicans2 · 17/09/2020 17:28

An ex bought me a traditional shaped Tempur pillow about 16 years ago and it's still as gorgeously comfy as when it was new. Not sure how it compares with cheaper ones of its type but it's been worth every penny and I love it.

Welshmiss38 · 17/09/2020 18:13

Smile on everyone’s advice I have purchased the Tempur cloud

Cookies2523 · 18/09/2020 11:02

Hi MiddleClassProblem i am so pleased you like your pillow. Here's to many lovely, dreamy nights sleep! Thank you for taking the time to let me know.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 18/09/2020 11:12

I don’t use pillow protectors either, just an extra pillowcase.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 18/09/2020 11:15

And our pillows are washed and tumble dried every few months. Started doing that after reading about house dust mites in Bill Bryson’s ‘A Short History Of Nearly Everything.’
Best avoided if you’re at all squeamish!
