Sorry a really boring one but wanted to get some ideas

I am in desperate need for new pillows, we currently have a mismatch of cheap pillows an expensive but too soft one and a mid price dunelm one

The biggest issue I have is finding some which can fit inside pillow protectors and then pillow case (I dribble sorry tmi) and lots of the nice ones are too thick to fit in both Sad

Gutted that nobody has replied to this, as this is such a valid question! I am currently using a really good pillow from IKEA, it was only £10 and it's quite a nice one. Not sure what it's called. Hope you get your answer

This one. Best £80 odd quid I’ve ever spent in my life.

One of my closest friends got one and it changed her life too

daytripper28 · 17/08/2020 09:08

You are feckin kidding me - £90 for a pillow!!!

I just couldn't do that - no matter how good it is.

What a rip off

VictoriaBun · 17/08/2020 09:13

@PinkSnowAndStars
I have worked my way through all manner of pillows including the tempur. I don't rate it and it's joined the pile of the rest in our spare bedroom - unloved and unused.

MaskingForIt · 17/08/2020 09:15

I have a neck injury and have spent a fortune on pillows (and mattresses) over the years. I can honestly say that price has very little to do with whether a pillow will be good for me or not. I’m currently sleeping on two old pillows which are both collapsed enough to be about the right height and firmness. My husband is enjoying my latest fancy-schmancy £150 pillow, which despite spending a good hour testing in the shop was causing agony by the third night!

I’d recommend just buying whatever fits your pillow protectors and is within your price range.

MiddleClassProblem · 17/08/2020 09:15

I don’t like hard pillows including memory foam but can’t find a good soft pillow without going the feather route which I don’t want to do.

AntsInPenzance · 17/08/2020 09:17

Nothing beats a good goose-down pillow. Sadly, I had to give up my down pillows and duvet when I met my now wife who is allergic to them. It still makes me sad Sad.

P.S. synthetic just-like-down pillows are never just like down, no matter how much they claim to be.

Depending on why you don’t want feathers, you might like wool pillows: www.devonduvets.com/wool-pillows?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI45alyOah6wIVFuDtCh18CwAeEAAYASAAEgIRdPD_BwE

I liked their eco credentials and would have loved to have something non-synthetic, but they were too soft for me.

Dohorseseatapples · 17/08/2020 09:22

This on top of a normal soft pillow.
Takes a bit of getting used to but worth it.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 17/08/2020 09:23

M&S goose feather ones with a grounding pillow case plugged into the socket- best night's sleep ever!

hotchocdrinker · 17/08/2020 09:24

On holiday last year in Spain I had a wonderful pillow. I emailed the hotel afterwards to find out what it was, but couldn't justify the £150 price tag... Went shopping and came home with this:

www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-natural-collection-siberian-goose-feather-and-down-standard-pillow-medium/p3567199

I love it! Hadn't used a feather pillow for years, but you can flatten it down, or puff it up depending on how you feel. Pillow protector and pillow case would fit snugly, but would be fine.

Legallybleachblonde · 17/08/2020 09:29

Watching this thread with interest.. I struggle to find a pillow that doesn't hurt my ears! I see Soak and Sleep do a 'soft as down' one - has anyone ever had one of those? I want a really really soft pillow that doesn't turn into a wafer! I'm asthmatic so don't get on well with feathers.

RedCatBlueCat · 17/08/2020 09:29

Dunelm whatever they had in stock when I needed pillows for all of us (just moved internationally, and had none).
Me - Firm on on the bottom, plus a medium one on top.
Kids both have a medium one.
DH has a firm one.

MiddleClassProblem · 17/08/2020 09:39

Yes! Ear hurt!

Wool looks interesting. I need to get my brain over the fact it won’t be itchy...

Shodan · 17/08/2020 09:42

I use soak and sleep soft as down pillows and they are fab.

I have 2 different ones -one medium/firm and one soft, because I like to have a choice on a nightly basis! Grin

I've spent fortunes on pillows before and none have lasted so well or been as comfortable as these.

However- they do have that sort of crackly feel like some hotel pillows. I love that, but if you don't they might not work for you.

LakieLady · 17/08/2020 09:42

I use these www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/bedroom/sku-sainsburys-home-supersoft-washable-pillow-pair-medium.

Cheap as chips. I haven't washed them yet, because they're in pillow protectors and haven't needed it, but at that price I'd be tempted just to get new ones anyway, frankly.

They're really comfy and have kept their shape well, had them a couple of years now.

HMSSophie · 17/08/2020 09:45

I just bought the JL Siberian down ones. Gorgeous. Soft, but firm, and silent,

My dad has a water pillow, you might find that soft but not allergic.
Spam88 · 17/08/2020 09:52

Dunlopillo. They're latex and amazing - soft but firm. Two thicknesses available, for back or side sleepers. Expensive though...when I got my first ones about 16 years ago they were 2 for £17. When I replaced them 5 years ago (they were fine but we had bedbugs 😭) I paid £85 for 2.

I have a bedbug cover, a normal pillow protector and a case and they all fit fine even though they're thick pillows.

Nottherealslimshady · 17/08/2020 09:55

I have a memory foam one but it's old and deformed now, need a new one. I like firm and high pillows though, soft pillows are claustrophobic because you sink so far into them they cover your face.

Never understood how people like feathers, they itch the hell out of me, the ends of feathers are sharp and point through the covers. Also the ethics are horrific Confused

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 17/08/2020 10:26

I found the soak and sleep pillows went very floppy after a while, also the duvets went into flat pockets with some of the squares being almost empty of filling. I’ m also very disappointed in their customer service too.

Gobbycop · 17/08/2020 10:26

Baavet wool pillow.

Along with their duvets, superb.

Angelina82 · 17/08/2020 11:02

I can’t believe that people are paying up to £150 for a fucking pillow!!! How the other half live eh? shock]

You try breaking your neck and then tell me you wouldn’t do everything possible to not live in pain 😂 it’s no different to buying a wheel chair, adapted car or a prosthetic leg. Quality ableism there!

We are all at liberty to spend our money how we see fit. I don’t buy make up, designer clothes, fancy cars, expensive baubles, but I do take living in as little pain as possible quite seriously. Jog on if you’re too stupid to understand that 😂
