(LIGHT HEARTED)

Just that really.

I think my favourite was fairly recently - CV related and one of the first responses to was “You dh is literally trying to kill you” (along the lines of not wearing a mask in the shops).

OP posts:
IAmMeThisIsI · 02/07/2020 21:04

Had a whole thread telling me the word "black" was racist once. At least five people said it. When I asked nicely about BLM the subject was then changed to how they're dodgy AF.

ShebaShimmyShake · 02/07/2020 21:08

There was an OP once whose useless loser boyfriend cheated on her, taunted her for being unable to have children (which he knew when they got together) and said he was off to go and sire many male heirs with the beautiful young OW. Except that said OW recoiled in horror when he showed up newly single and told him to fuck off because she never wanted him. Posters wondered where this sudden urge for boy children on his part had come from and OP, who was something of a legend, responded that she didn't know why, that he wasn't from a culture that might require it as he was "British and raised on Burberry and sexual repression" and something about him not having a crumbling grousing estate to leave to anyone.

I do admit that on that occasion, I really did properly laugh out loud and if I'd been drinking something, I'm sure it would have splattered everywhere. She was just magnificent.

Ahaaaa @IAmMeThisIsI I showed my (black, by his own admission, #notracist) DH the comment on the drunk friends thread re: if you say gay you're homophobic, just like if you say black you're racist' comment and he's told me I 'need to get off Mumsnet because it's unstable'

locked2020 · 02/07/2020 21:25

Any landlord that posts a problem with a tenant basically gets told they should let the tenant stay and cause damage, are greedy fuckers, forget rent etc

Lately anybody who posts any issue with learning in lockdown is accused of teacher bashing

People who suspect partners of cheating etc and go through their phones (always by accident) are crucified. If they don't go through a phone, they are told to hunt for his spare phone, go through his real phone.

Upon the age of 18, all kids should be kicked out and you can do nothing more to help them

Someone will post that they are upset that they are having a hard time and can't afford a babysitter/don't want to leave child with someone they haven't met/wants a tad of support from an able parent ...will get told how entitled they are etc etc

locked2020 · 02/07/2020 21:27

Oh and of course any windfall/bonus/overtime etc should be donated to a food bank

Sorry, that wasn't interesting enough to post three times (or perhaps even one time)! Not sure what happened there.

ShebaShimmyShake · 02/07/2020 21:31

Three times over is pretty OTT!

Well to be fair, he's right. We're all mad here.
EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 02/07/2020 21:53

Well lots of giving examples that get more and more outrageous

The overly dramatic responses the op got for realising that once she had children she didn’t love her dog as much was highly enjoyable 😆 though I did feel sorry for the op

bigcatlittlecatcardboardbox · 02/07/2020 22:07

@ShebaShimmyShake all the best people are Wink

Charleyhorses · 02/07/2020 22:56

I was berated once for mentioning that I used kitchen roll to clean the inside of windows. Apparently it is the actual cause of global warming and what I should do is have a "rag bag" and cut up worn out shirts to use. I was tempted to say that we never wore shirts out, just chucked them in the bin and bought new but I felt it may have inflamed the situation

1984isnow · 03/07/2020 00:08

Not as bad as some of these, but one that still leaves me bemused when I think of it. There was a thread where the OP had bought a house that needed a lot of renovating, and they were doing it in bits. The NDN complained about the noise from the work and naturally the OP was akin to hitler.

One poster when ape shit over and over again, saying old houses shouldn't even get renovated due to the disturbance, amongst other things. Instead, they should be bulldozed and new ones built. As though living next to a building site would be preferable to next door having a new kitchen.

No, I’m alright, ta.

Fake passports? To go where Grin the world is still on lockdown, cheers anyway 1984

heidipi · 03/07/2020 01:27

Oh if I had a sleeping baby on me that would have woken it up 😁

I never understand these responses. I mean, if you can give to charity then superb but to scold someone for finally, after years of financial hardship actually having the gall to enjoy their windfall of unexpected money is horrible. Like, God forbid anyone dare have any happiness or good fortune come their way! No! Their fireworks should be immediately pissed on and stamped out and any feelings of happiness crushed ASAP.

iklboo · 03/07/2020 10:13

@bigcatlittlecatcardboardbox - absolutely. You can't use any descriptive words without some posters calling you some kind of -ist.

I'd call someone a carbon based life form to be neutral but I'd probably get called out for assuming their element and they might identify as antimony for all I know.

Mittens030869 · 03/07/2020 10:46

The allegations of drip feeding get tedious. There are times when this accusation is justified, but other times it’s just because the OP realises that they need to include more details to clarify things. Because it’s very nearly impossible to include every single relevant detail.

The result of this is that we end up with ridiculously long OPs ‘so as not to drip feed’.

jentinquarantino20 · 03/07/2020 11:00

The one where the lady kept having her discharge delayed after having a baby and they said the police will come for her if she left of her own accord and social services lol

whattimeisitrightnow · 03/07/2020 11:02

As PPs have said, any thread about food/eating gets some ridiculous responses. My favourites are those that start out with the OP saying that they have some concerns about their child: he/she has lost weight recently, isn't eating at all normally, had nothing but a single string bean all day yesterday, looks unhealthy, seems tired etc.

Then there's always that one poster who responds: "You've just lost sight of what a normal healthy weight for a child is, OP. This is due to vanity sizing and massive portions - I was going through my great-great-granny's things the other day and her dinner plates are the size of a saucer. Unless you can see a child's rubs, they're obese. Statistically, your child is probably actually overweight - this is why they feel so tired. If you're still concerned, maybe up their food to two string beans on special occasions. Oh, and don't forget LOTS of protein." Posters in general seem to be obsessed with masses of protein, even though it can't be stored by the body, so if you eat too much it will literally just be excreted.

whattimeisitrightnow · 03/07/2020 11:02

*a child's ribs!

whattimeisitrightnow · 03/07/2020 11:14

Oh, and yes to those responses on "who would you be in The Handmaid's Tale" thread. Every other poster INSISTED that their husband would be part of the resistance, completely missing the entire premise of the story, in that it relied on men enjoying or being complicit with the patriarchal set-up Confused
