Your Royal Mail parcel from EWFulfilment is on its way

We have your item at Atherstone PSC and it's on its way.

AIBU to be utterly curious as to what this mysterious item is?

The only thing that I can think of that I'm waiting on is a driving licence from Swansea I think. I've googled EWFulfilment and it seems to be a warehouse or distribution centre or something and Atherstone is near Birmingham, but if it was my driving licence, they'd call it a letter rather than a parcel?

Can anyone guess what is winging its way to me please? *Lighthearted.

Ordered anything from AliExpress or some other Chinese retailer, and forgotten about it?

GimmeAy · 25/06/2020 10:37

Since it only arrived in Atherstone at 7pm yesterday, I'll be kept in suspense until Friday. I know I'm a nosey bugger with no patience, but the suspense is killing me. Grin

c3pu not that I can think of.

It says service used: Service used:

Royal Mail Tracked 48â„¢

It's probably your DL. Maybe RM refer to all items sent by that service as 'parcels' even if they are actually letters?

GimmeAy · 25/06/2020 10:46

Is Atherstone near Swansea (I'm not British so my geographical knowledge of the UK is appalling)?

BertieBotts · 25/06/2020 10:47

Yes I think passports are referred to as parcels because they are tracked. It should really say delivery rather than parcel.

BertieBotts · 25/06/2020 10:48

Swansea is in Wales so not really near Birmingham!

Euclid · 25/06/2020 10:49

I received my renewed driving licence in the ordinary post recently.

GimmeAy · 25/06/2020 10:50

I knew Swansea was in Wales - and Birmingham I have a vague notion is sort of North West, so wasn't sure whether they might be close enough over the border.

GimmeAy · 25/06/2020 10:51

Royal Mail tracked would appear like ordinary post though wouldn't it - it's not Royal Mail signed for - I think?

Atherstone is north of Birmingham close to Tamworth

BertieBotts · 25/06/2020 10:52

Birmingham is in the middle of England. Not too far from Wales but not right on the border.

BarbaraofSeville · 25/06/2020 10:52

How near Atherstone is to Swansea, depends on your perspective. If you're near Inverness, then it is, but not if you're in Birmingham.

But anyway, they work on 'hubs' around the country, so all the parcels from, say the Midlands and Wales will first go to the Atherstone hub, and then they'll be divided out and sent on to other distribution hubs nearer to the final destination. So say you're near Leeds, the package might go from Swansea to Atherstone at the end of day 1 and then from Atherstone to somewhere in the north of England on day 2 so that it can be sent to a local delivery office to go out for delivery during the morning of day 3.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 25/06/2020 10:53

Maybe someone ordered you a surprise

GimmeAy · 25/06/2020 10:55

I really want it to be my DL, because I was exchanging my EU DL for a British/UK one. My old Irish licence was expired - so I'm dubious as to whether they'll send it back saying they can't exchange an expired licence. I also had to send my EU ID off with the application, so they'll have to send that back. Plus, I had to move back to Ireland for a couple of months a few years ago as all my ID was stolen and I had no ID, so I'm quite anxious about ID. And lastly, while I don't drive over here as I wouldn't feel confident in London, it would be handy to have in case an occasion arose where I had to drive.

Maybe someone ordered you a surprise I very much doubt that lol

OP posts:
GimmeAy · 25/06/2020 11:01

The only ID I'm currently in possession of now is my passport, and since that has been stolen twice and had to be replaced, I think if it's stolen a third time, it can be difficult to get a replacement (I suppose in case you're selling them off or something), so I really don't want to have to carry passport around unless absolutely necessary.

I've never ever received notification of a letter/parcel on its way to me before, so this is new to me.

Be careful, there's a scam going around. I got an email from Hermes a couple of days ago saying "your x parcel is on its way" - I have never ordered from x shop so I contacted them and they told me that it's a scam. Don't click on any links just in case, OP.

GimmeAy · 25/06/2020 11:23

Oh dear, well I've already clicked on the link! Looks legit though. Well if I'm scammed, that will really annoy me!!

The Atherstone PSC is the "Atherstone Parcel Sort Centre" and it is part of the Royal Mail network. The item would have been posted into the RM network by this mysterious company EW Fulfilment. Atherstone is a central hub, and the T48 processed there would be largely posted from firms within the midlands area.

EW are based at Common Lane Industrial Estate, Common Ln, Kenilworth CV8 2EL. The firm itself is a 3rd party firm which other businesses may be using to handle their logistics and warehousing. They would then post into the RM network. So it could be your DL, or it could be something else as the businesses using EW may be based anywhere in the UK. Have you looked at their website?

BertieBotts · 25/06/2020 11:25

No, we always get a text when expecting renewed passports, and it's always similarly cryptic! I suppose in case it goes to the wrong number. If you supply your phone number when you're doing the application that's what they do.

I believe driving licence is the same office. And it is usually signed for.

I'm British and my geography of Britain is crap 😂
GimmeAy · 25/06/2020 11:27

@Euclid - can you check whether you received an email from Royal Mail before your licence arrived (if of course you have both the time and the inclination to keep a MNer happy).
