Your Royal Mail parcel from EWFulfilment is on its way

We have your item at Atherstone PSC and it's on its way.

AIBU to be utterly curious as to what this mysterious item is?

The only thing that I can think of that I'm waiting on is a driving licence from Swansea I think. I've googled EWFulfilment and it seems to be a warehouse or distribution centre or something and Atherstone is near Birmingham, but if it was my driving licence, they'd call it a letter rather than a parcel?

Can anyone guess what is winging its way to me please? *Lighthearted.

I knew the name sounded familiar! I found an email in my inbox for it saying a delivery was coming to my work address. I was intrigued too as the name didn't mean anything. It turned out it was a candle I'd bought from Imperial Candles.

Looking at Companies House, EWFulfilment and Imperial Essences are both owned by the same person.

Cracking up at this thread because of the tangents.
It surprises me that Newry is called a city, ffs.
What are the criteria?

GimmeAy · 26/06/2020 16:49

LadyEloise - try talking to me in real life - talk about going off on tangents! You've just seen a real life example of me in the written word haha. I could start off talking about the price of peas and end up talking about Donald Trump. I don't know how/why I do that!

CharmingB - well my router arrived anyway safe and sound.

Just to make you all realise the calibre of Irish person you're talking to - I have two (2) All Ireland medals.

Apologies - I find it hard to stick that claim to fame into most conversations so I figured it was a good thread to tangentially poke that minor piece of bragging in. Grin

We’ve been having zoom quizzes every week of lockdown( aka getting pissed with an audience)
My round is going to be about Irish counties this week I’m gonna clean up. 😃

GimmeAy · 26/06/2020 17:32

I'm from Leinster so can rhyme them off (as we learned them off from my DM as children - I'm from Leinster). I usually forget Roscommon and Leitrim in Connacht and Waterford and Tipperary in Munster.
Ulster usually throws me.

OP posts:
GimmeAy · 26/06/2020 17:34

If you're in the UK @Tlollj, simply asking how many counties in Ireland are in the Province of Ulster will probably throw a lot of people haha!

OP posts:
GimmeAy · 26/06/2020 17:38

The province with most counties in Ireland is Leinster.

OP posts:
GimmeAy · 26/06/2020 17:41

Ask them which province are the counties Monaghan, Cavan, Donegal, Waterford, Tipperary (it's a long way to Tipperary) and Roscommon and Leitrim. Even Irish people will get confused (if they're as thick as myself) with those counties.

Also - one main town in Ireland which has the river Shannon running through it is Athlone. Half of the town (east of the river) is in Co. Westmeath (Leinster) and half of the town is in Connacht (west of the river). Athlone also holds the oldest pub in Ireland (Seáns Bar).
The Shannon is the longest river in Ireland.
Loads of useless shite I could give you for your quiz!

OP posts:
GimmeAy · 26/06/2020 17:50

Let me know how your quiz goes!

I guess some people wouldn't even know how many counties in total there are on the island of Ireland, let alone know how many were in NI.

odd, meandering thread, but Atherstone sounded sufficiently close to Adlestrop to have that lovely poem sounding through my head. Smile

Bit London-centric, but there are 32 London boroughs plus the city of London.

LadyEloise · 26/06/2020 18:22

GimmeAy
I'm well impressed that you have All Ireland medals. Many on this thread won't know how amazing this is Smile
What are they for ?

GimmeAy · 26/06/2020 19:39

Set dancing LadyEloise
Won the All Ireland mixed set dance when we were all about 15/16 - think it was called Juniors or 15-18's, so our teacher entered us into the Seniors the following year (we were all about 16-18) and we won again. Our teacher had warned us that we had no chance of winning but that it was good experience entering into the Seniors, but we...... won it. We danced the Cavan Reel Set both years.

One of my dds has got to All Ireland in fiddle and set dancing (not mixed), but hasn't managed an All Ireland medal yet. It's only now that I realise how significant it was.

My DSIS has many Leinster medals but doesn't have an All Ireland medal - which I joke with her about whenever we're at the fleadh.

OP posts:
GimmeAy · 26/06/2020 20:04

If anyone is remotely interested in what the Cavan reel set is - this is an example of it - you need to be very fit. I remember our teacher shouting 'ARMS' and 'PLACES' at us.

OP posts:
GimmeAy · 26/06/2020 20:04

Sorry , this is the dance.

OP posts:
GimmeAy · 26/06/2020 20:14

PS that's Scór not the Fleadh, but it's hard to find the Cavan reel in the fleadh.
By all accounts we were the first team to ever win the All Ireland by dancing the Cavan Reel Set.

A really interesting geography lesson on NI. I’m ashamed to say I literally didn’t know any of that.

And that video is something else - they are so talented.

Today has been rubbish, but this thread has made me feel happy. Smile Thank you.

AngelaScandal · 26/06/2020 20:28

OP were you never taught the acronym FATDAD to remember the counties of Ulster?

... and did you never notice all the BBC presenters had Northern Irish accents when you put on ‘the channels’? Cos it’s their local BBC??

GimmeAy · 26/06/2020 20:35

Boscoismyspiritanimal I grew up in Ireland so we had 2 channels - RTE1 AND RTE2 lol

OP posts:
GimmeAy · 26/06/2020 20:49

Boscoismyspiritanimal You mean the counties of NI?

AngelaScandal · 26/06/2020 21:07

I grew up in 2-channel land but we could get the U.K. channels if we paid for them.

FATDAD = Fermanagh, Antrim, Tyrone , Down, Armagh & (L)/Derry
