To be nervous getting a Tesco delivery?

I have never done an online shop with tesco because I am unsure of what I need to do when the driver gets here. How do I bring the shopping into the house? Is it in bags or do I carry each individual item into the house from those crates? Should I just stick to the shop?

It will come in bags and you carry the bags in. Even if for some reason it's in crates you can always put it into your own bag at the door and carry it in. I've always notice though that the drivers are always more patient with me than I expect them to be!

I have been having tesco deliveries since lock down. very happy with them. The bring the crates to the door and stand 2m back. The shopping will be in bags so empty the crates. Do not take the crates in doors. Some items may be loose as i have found but maybe only 5 or 6.

Its very easy dont worry and super efficient. At the moment I think in bags so the driver doesnt have to stay around. you can even put a sign in your window to leave on doorstop as sheilding etc and they know what they are doing its really easy. Definitely soo much easier than shopping and worth the money.

Everything is in tesco bags now apart from large items like cat litter or loo roll.

The driver will unload them on your doorstep before knocking, then when you open the door they will step back.

The receipt is usually in the bag. They should say if there are any substitutions or anything missing. Smile, say thanks, pass the time of day and they go and leave you to bring the bags inside.

It's no more bother than the postman.

They bring the crates in a stack to your door, then step back And let you lift the bags into your house. I’ve been really impressed with them - they brought my Ds an Easter egg on Easter Sunday, and when I said I hadn’t been outside or seen anyone because we were shielding, the driver stood at the bottom of my drive and chatted to me for 5 mins. I was very touched!

I have crates of my own laid out in the porch. The driver just leaves the bags in my crates for me bless him, and then I take them in to the house one by one, and do the unload in there.

It's the highlight of my week! Our tesco drivers are lovely and sometimes call earlier on to see if we are happy to accept our delivery a bit earlier or later. As I am not going anywhere it's no bother.

Shopping comes in lots of bags which is still a bit odd but we are reusing them as bin bags for the kitchen bin so hopefully reducing our waste.

They just put the crates on my front door and I just lug them to the kitchen where I just turn them out on the floor, because there’s the pressure of them waiting.

Now that (in my local area anyway) slots are becoming more available, it will be a long time before I drive, try to find a space, tokens or coins for the trolley, queue up, go in, get around as quickly as possible, queue to pay, load up car, get home, unload again.

Nope, will be delivered from now on, great service.

They're all bagged up lately. So they bring the bags to your doorstep in crates.

I grab the bags out and put them in the hall.

And then once the driver has gone I unpack the bags and wash the bits etc. X

I haven’t had any of my orders in bags. The driver knocks, stands back, and we bring the crates in and empty before handing back. When my husband isn’t here to lift the crates I just empty them all over the hall floor then sort out afterwards-it’s fine.

It comes in bags at the moment. They unload it and leave it on the doorstep, you bring it into the house. Easy peasy.

Nope. Never tipped a driver. I'm not sure they would be allowed to take it.

As others have said at the moment they will arrive in bags in the crates at the door. You just pick up the bags without touching the crates.

They will let you know what substitutions you have and in normal times you can reject them and give them back. Now you keep them but let them know what aren't suitable and they will log that and you get a refund in a couple of days. Same for any items with poor use by dates. If for some reason you notice them after the driver has gone you can phone up and get refunds.

However I find tescos are pretty good for dates and subs compared to some other supermarkets.

The drivers are patient, friendly and helpful. In all the years I have had deliveries I have only had one or two that weren't. I hate supermarket shopping and always have deliveries. Saves so much time.

Never. I suspect they wouldn't be allowed to accept any and would probably cause embarrassment. Be nice to know if that was true if there are any drivers about on here.

I used to have Tesco deliveries by the crate, the drivers would ask if I wanted the crates carrying into the kitchen (well, all except Mr Grumpy) and I'd let them do so as the kitchen is right by the front door. Both driver and I would then unload from crate onto worktop.

Now my Tesco drivers take the bags out of the crate next to the truck, and just carry the bags to my front door. Some put the bags down on the doorstep, others will lean forward and put them just inside my open front door. They back away, check that I'm happy, and that's that - they return to the truck, I bring the bags into the house.

I tip at Christmas when I get my big shop in. I don’t tip for normal deliveries

I don't know if you live in a flat, OP? I'm currently living in a first floor flat, and the driver won't come in to the hallway/stairs (they used to) so I take all the bags out of the crates so he can be on his way and then go up and down the stairs approximately 20 times to get it to my kitchen Grin

I ordered a Tesco delivery but the driver was French and he delivered brie, baguettes and other French food items - was v strange
