To be nervous getting a Tesco delivery?

I have never done an online shop with tesco because I am unsure of what I need to do when the driver gets here. How do I bring the shopping into the house? Is it in bags or do I carry each individual item into the house from those crates? Should I just stick to the shop?

When the van arrives, open the door and stand back.
Driver wearing gloves will tell you if anything is substituted etc
Then he will unload bags from crates on your doorstep.
Keep well back and wait till he is done.
He says bye and leaves.
You go and pick up your shopping.
The next bit it up to you.
I carry the bags inside and put them on the floor.
Then I empty them one at a time and give food a quick wipe with disinfectant before putting it away.
I put all the empty bags into one bag and leave them outside for a day and then put them in the bin.

The ones I've had since COVID they bring the crate to the doorstep and as they are getting the next one I empty the one they have left (mostly bagged although have unbagged selected) into the house. And repeat.
Helps that they park at the end of the drive and have to come past my car and then down the path so gives me time to unload.

Here they bring the crates to the doorway. I take out the bags and set them in the porch while the drive gets the rest of the crates. Then he takes all the crates away and I bring it to kitchen.

I’m having online delivery with different shops and today I had Asda but sadly they did not delivered in bags but in crates.
The driver was lovely but said no more bags.
It took longer time to get 56 items one by one to empty 5 crates.
Normally they deliver with bags so driver just dumps the bags on doorstep and can go.
So yes I was dissapointed really as it wasted the drivers time really waiting for me get all out.

Tesco’s are brilliant (I have tried them except Iceland in the past)
They’ve saved my sanity as a very vulnerable adult, unlike Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Ocado etc who didn’t want to know despite me having regularly shopped with them for many years.

If you have a big couple of boxes let the driver put the goods into them. That's what I do when I order from anywhere that doesn't supply bags (some places still do).

This should definitely be an option when you checkout! I've always found the drivers to be really friendly. I just grab the bags and dump them by the door and then take them through to the kitchen after. These things can be a little nerve wracking first time round

I don't tip but I regularly contact Tesco and tell them that their drivers are great. (Not had a crap one in 10+ years of delivery) I hope that my positive feedback gets back to them and that they are assigned to my deliveries in future

I stick a polite note on my front door asking shopping to be left outside my door and to ring the bell when he's finished unloading.

This morning the delivery came at 9am. Completely contactless.

They deliver in clear recyclable plastic bags.

I collected shopping sanitised and put it away.

If anything is amiss there is a number to call after your shopping has been delivered.

Tesco delivery is one of the easier options.

Tesco have been really impressive with their delivery.
I usually do one a month for heavy product's toiletries, laundry, cleaning, bulk loo roll etc.
I do a supermarket run myself I'm not vulnerable just car less.
Mind you I ordered 7 bananas last week on my order I got 7 bunches.

I'm a Tesco Delivery Driver, and it's a great job.

At the moment, the shopping is packed in bags in crates to try and minimise Covid risk. We come to your door, knock, stand back 2m and chat through the receipt, subs etc, check where to put the crates (back door etc). I then get the rest of the crates while the customer unloads. We do ask the crates aren't taken inside. Finish by checking everything is OK. We don't take bags back, to minimise risk, but encourage recycling.

For customers with additional needs, we'll put the bags somewhere handy indoors, after checking with them what works for them.

You can put extra instructions about delivery on your order.

You can return anything, doesn't need to be damaged or a poor sub, and we'll refund it.

2m distance is compulsory, but other Covid19 measures are individual choice, the van has hand san, gloves, masks wipes etc. I hand san all the time.

Tesco plan the routes so that we have time to chat/do everything the customer wants etc. There's a really strong emphasis on customer care, and a culture of doing everything we can to sort any problems.

As a say, it's a great job and most of the customers are lovely. Lots have said they plan to continue the service after Covid, which is nice to hear.

I love the idea of lobbing stuff through windows...

I'm in Ireland and it's just mental how they are doing it here. Wish they did it like the UK.

Here there are No bags so everything is loose in trays. Depending on drivers, most bring to front door, 2 bring to end of drive way. We carry crates into house empty and bring crates back out. Thankfully dh is here to lift them but there was a day he was at a funeral and I had to empty them into the hall way and the kids brought them into the kitchen, thank god I had 5 kids, if I had of known this was on the horizon I would have had more

I have shopped online with tesco for nearly 20 years, the drivers are usually lovely, helpful and just really nice. I have found with these new drivers that they had to take on are rude and unhelpful. The guy I had Thursday asked me if I could empty them quicker that I was delaying the next time slots !! He wouldn't allow me to bring the crates into the house so it was all been done at our very narrow front door.

I'm sure and it does sound like the UK are on this much better and I look forward to the day when my old drivers are back and wheel it all into my house.

Once he arrives he'll probably say he's dropping at front door, carry the bags into your kitchen and that's it.
