To be nervous getting a Tesco delivery?

I have never done an online shop with tesco because I am unsure of what I need to do when the driver gets here. How do I bring the shopping into the house? Is it in bags or do I carry each individual item into the house from those crates? Should I just stick to the shop?

It's been a while since we had a Tesco shop and they don't allow bags here. So the items are loose in the crates. Last time I had a delivery I asked the delivery man to put everything into empty washing baskets on the hall floor.

Just to say that until recently mine has been bagged in the crates, but on my last two deliveries the items are mostly loose in the crates again, as they used to be. So depending on where you are, your shopping may not be in bags. I'm in London.

Ive never thought to tip but always say big thanks and often message tesco with thanks as they are really really friendly and nice. When we were on crates rather than bags pre covid Id just put my big shopping bags by the front door and then put everything straight in quick as a flash, super easy and just so much better than going to the shops with children!

Need to know if Tesco will still do contactless now, Dec 22. I am still shielding - are delivery drivers allowed to leave groceries on the doorstep, then ring doorbell when finished. I would like to bring groceries in after the delivery driver has gone. No offense! Is this still possible?

@fioreun Are you still a driver for Tesco, if so, please can you tell me if they still do contactless deliveries. I need my shopping left on my doorstep, the driver to ring door bell when done, then when the driver has gone I open the front door and collect the groceries. Still shielding.

Hi, I haven't delivered for Tesco for a couple of years. I suggest you contact them to ask about this, good luck I hope you get it sorted.

I think most deliveries are pretty much contactless. They put crates on doorstep then ring bell. When you answer they are normally standing right back.

We all had Covid a few weeks ago and didn't want to have direct contact with the driver. There is a box on the online order form where you can give special delivery instructions. We just said in the instructions box that we had Covid and to leave the crates outside the back door. The driver did this, we unloaded the crates once he had left, then the next driver collected the empty crates the next time we had a delivery. I am sure you could do similar.

@Redbushteaforme
Thank you. I wouldn't really have room for crates in my home though. I rang and one advisor said I could request bags and have them left on the doorstep, but the second advisor said I couldn't! @AFineBalance Thank you, but I am pretty certain that standing back isn't sufficient for the omicron variant.
