Painted Rocks

AIBU to hate the painted rocks people are leaving all around the place. Yes it might be a fun activity but if your kids want to paint rocks then do it at home and keep them there. When I walk through woods, or by fields then I want to enjoy the natural scenery not gaudily painted rocks very few yards. It is little better than littering the countryside.

Well if you have wankers on your fb it's hardly the fault of random stone painters @PimaDona now is it? In fact I would say it was your fault.

flamegame · 24/05/2020 21:15

I tend to agree the point is for them to cheer up urban areas and be a treasure hunt rather than be in genuinely rural areas. As long as the paint isn’t toxic to wildlife or plant life o couldn’t get very excited though

Mistymonday · 24/05/2020 21:18

Yes!!! I totally agree, it was cute at first but now if’s overdone and is gaudy littering in a beautiful ancient forest!! Please stop!

TabbyMumz · 24/05/2020 21:18

It is getting a bit annoying, not everyone wants to see painted rocks everywhere. Why nit paint them and put them by your front door or something.

Aesopfable · 24/05/2020 21:19

Anything else you'd like to moan about?

Well as you asked Wink and since someone else has already mentioned it.... fairy doors!

I liked the first few but they are rapidly becoming litter and pollutants
Some are painted with oils or nail varnish. They are alongside the river where I walk. If they end up back in the river they will cause pollution
So many people picking up river stones is bad news. Some are covered in glitter, pipe cleaners and material. This is litter
We also have people putting ribbons on the bridge. More litter. Some came off in the wind and ended up in the river
There are some beautiful paintings I just wish people would think of the environment

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/05/2020 21:23

It’s quarantine parenting for the middle classes

Nature doesn't need decorating with your rubbish! In gardens and parks, fine. Leave the countryside alone.

ThousandsAreSailing · 24/05/2020 21:23

Fairy doors are the work of the devil. Keep them in your own garden
Bits of plastic in woods is no different to litter from a picnic

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 24/05/2020 21:25

Wow
What a fun sucker

Do you object to children playing outside in the street too OP ?

66redballons · 24/05/2020 21:29

What a fun sucker.

SockYarn · 24/05/2020 21:31

I don't mind them.

I do on the other hand detest the ones with Scottish independence slogans painted on them.

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 24/05/2020 21:33

I agree with you OP

Theres one family here that produces hundreds of them and they get left all over the place. I know it's just one family because of the Facebook posts, and the URL that's on the back of the rocks.

I'm fed up of seeing them tbh.

The odd one was fine, they're sweet. Dozens of them within half a mile of my house? Stop it.

iknowimcoming · 24/05/2020 21:38

Rocks - fine, but we also have the plastic tat toys now too and it's annoying, looks like someone has had a clear out of their McDonald's happy meal toys and dropped them in the woods Hmm

PimaDona · 24/05/2020 21:39

@SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing

Suffolk village of MH by any chance? Or we have the same family here too!

nitgel · 24/05/2020 21:45

Fairy doors can eff off too. Hugs op Grin

Macncheeseballs · 24/05/2020 21:48

If banksy did a fairy door would that be acceptableHmm

nitgel · 24/05/2020 21:49

No

Macncheeseballs · 24/05/2020 21:52

loubieloo4 · 24/05/2020 21:55

@littlebirdieblue I would love to see that ☺️

ScarletFever · 24/05/2020 21:59

eauf

Macncheeseballs · 24/05/2020 22:00

Never seen one, but would love to

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 24/05/2020 22:03

If Banksy nailed a fairy door on to a beautiful old oak tree I would think he was a twat too.

Sparklesocks · 24/05/2020 22:05

Oh come on.
There are so many awful things in the world at the moment. Does this really matter? It’s so small and clearly cheers up the kids who do them. The paint will wear off in time. Not like they’re torching a rainforest or pouring chemicals into rivers.

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/05/2020 22:09

If Banksy nailed a fairy door on to a beautiful old oak tree I would think he was a twat too.

He pretties up cities. These people litter in the country. Completely different.

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/05/2020 22:09

The paint will wear off in time.

And go.... where?
