Supposed to be returning from MAT leave in June, have childcare arranged and as a key worker they will still take my baby - excellent.

Had a team meeting with work this week to discuss going back and have been told that I have to relocate as my partner works on the same site as me - which has been known since I informed them we were in a relationship, however the policy changed in October (before I went on MAT leave). While we are on the same site, our jobs are separate and we are working in different buildings, have different managers and different hours. The different hours means I will need to do drop offs and pick ups to coincide with opening and closing hours.

So during the middle of a pandemic, with child care mostly closed I now have to find a new nursery, lose a significant term time deposit and start the settling in process all over again. Not only that, they have told me to find my own employment within the company - my head is exploding with all of this. AIBU to think this is an unnecessary ball ache!

I appreciate that this is a minor problem given the amount of people losing jobs!

If the GP signed you off, would you be entitled to sick pay or would it not be payable because you're on unpaid leave?

I'm bloody sure you'd be entitled to SSP, that's automatic. I know it's only £80-something, but it's better than nothing.

The "more evidence" is intriguing, I wonder what it is? Could it be something in an email you've forwarded, eg the one where you make your FW request?

And the other collective grievance will show that your manager doesn't give a shit about rules, with a bit of luck. It's a shame it's just starting when yours has reached the end of the process.

Titslikepicassos · 04/10/2020 19:48

@LakieLady

Not sure about sick pay.

I think it must be something in the forwarded emails, I have no idea what my line manager has said in all of this, hopefully I've caught them out.

Definitely a shame about the timing of the group grievance! As you say though, it doesn't make them look any better!

Look into Mindfulness and breathing techniques to help you with the physical stress symptoms you're having.

I really hope you get the outcome you deserve! It's shocking what you're going through & how dragged out they are making it all

NancyBotwinBloom · 04/10/2020 20:32

Op there was a thread on here not long ago and I'm sure it was similar I will try to find it

But, it does sound like discrimination. You need to document everything.

NancyBotwinBloom · 04/10/2020 20:33

Im sorry op I can't find it. I had a purge of everything I was watching and I've deleted it by accident.

When can you use your union?

Herdwick · 05/10/2020 09:16

@NancyBotwinBloom it was probably this thread, it's been going since May!

BlueThistles · 05/10/2020 09:35

how are you OP 🌺

WindsorBlues · 05/10/2020 12:34

Flowers. I've been following your thread for awhile. I hope you get the outcome you hope for. I always thought my company had and an excellent maternity policy until I fell pregnant myself and I've discovered the amount of loopholes they have to screw me out of what Im entitled to. I'm keeping a copy of everything because of your thread.

Titslikepicassos · 09/10/2020 18:18

@WindsorBlues - thank you. Good plan to keep copies of everything!

Update -

There is no update.

Was supposed to have the outcome last week, but I had an email to say they were investigating more evidence that I had provided and it would be wrapped up early this week. It hasn't been wrapped up and I haven't had a reply to my polite email nudges.

Confused

Dear Lord how can they be so rubbish!!!

AHobbyaweek · 10/10/2020 12:41

I can't believe they can take this long and leave you hanging so badly.

PrincessForADay · 10/10/2020 21:18

Thanks for you

Confused [/quote] Sounds to me like they might be having a bit of a panic.

I wonder what's in those emails that needs investigating?

Titslikepicassos · 11/10/2020 11:28

There's nothing in the emails that they haven't already been sent! Shows how seriously they took the investigation.

Hopefully I'll hear something tomorrow!

Look into constructive dismissal...

katmarie · 12/10/2020 08:09

I suspect someone somewhere has actually read what you've sent them and are having a bit of an 'oh shit' moment. Fingers crossed they get their act together this week for you.

Titslikepicassos · 12/10/2020 11:51

I've had the outcome -

Basically they don't agree that anything has happened blah blah blah.

I knew this would be the case but I now have to take 10 (more?!) KIT days before I can return to work and they've offered me mediation or a transfer to somewhere else.

They also haven't responded to my flexible working request!

So one step forward, two steps back.

OP posts:
ilovemydogandMrObama · 12/10/2020 12:21

Wow, do they acknowledge that any aspect of this was badly handled or are management failures your fault also?

Are they making mediation mandatory, or is this to, 'facilitate,' your return back to work?

It may be an idea to think about things first, but if you said, 'thanks, I don't wish to take up mediation - I just want to return. Please let me know what date you wish me to return...'

Titslikepicassos · 12/10/2020 12:49

They haven't acknowledged anything in the letter!

My grievance was set out in points 1-31, they've copy and pasted my letter and put 'in response' to each point, but they've messed up the numerical order so it doesn't even make sense.

It's a white wash, a poorly written one at that.

I don't even know where to begin with an appeal.

Mediation is not mandatory but I don't have hours to go back on! Know idea what this KIT day thing is about either!

OP posts:
AHobbyaweek · 12/10/2020 16:39

I thought you had finished your mat leave so can they even use KIT days?

Titslikepicassos · 12/10/2020 19:04

I spoke to ACAS earlier who were baffled by this statement. They told me to put another grievance in.
