Supposed to be returning from MAT leave in June, have childcare arranged and as a key worker they will still take my baby - excellent.

Had a team meeting with work this week to discuss going back and have been told that I have to relocate as my partner works on the same site as me - which has been known since I informed them we were in a relationship, however the policy changed in October (before I went on MAT leave). While we are on the same site, our jobs are separate and we are working in different buildings, have different managers and different hours. The different hours means I will need to do drop offs and pick ups to coincide with opening and closing hours.

So during the middle of a pandemic, with child care mostly closed I now have to find a new nursery, lose a significant term time deposit and start the settling in process all over again. Not only that, they have told me to find my own employment within the company - my head is exploding with all of this. AIBU to think this is an unnecessary ball ache!

I appreciate that this is a minor problem given the amount of people losing jobs!

Oh MAN.
I've just read this whole thread.

I think I would continue down the tribunal route since it's arrived.

But next summer (covid allowing)? What would happen between now and then?

Margaritatime · 03/11/2020 17:33

OP did you enter into a compromise agreement with your employer?

If not get advice as you may still be able to pursue the ET - but only if you want to.

Titslikepicassos · 03/11/2020 19:50

I'd like to think they'd behave better knowing that it's going to tribunal. I'm not leaving and they can't fire me, so I'm not sure how this will play out.

No compromise agreement!

ACAS get involved again next - perhaps that will help?!

If I was in their shoes and received ET dates I would be looking how to resolve this.

If I were you I would be listing what I want to resolve the situation - you all ready have this e.g. new working pattern, a proper response to the points raised in your grievances, a new line manager, an apology. Prioritise them and identify your non-negotiable so you are ready for their approach.

Good luck

DeaconBoo · 04/11/2020 09:08

Just read the whole thread. What a shitshow!
I must admit I do love reading a thread that starts "my employers are being awful" and ends with "got a date for the tribunal"... stay strong!

Titslikepicassos · 04/11/2020 09:31

Thanks all.

It's difficult dealing with this when I'm just sat at home and work don't pick up my emails or stick to a damn thing they say.

I was supposed to hear on Monday when mediation would be sorted and have a date to return. I've heard nothing.

I think I'm supposed to be grateful that I'm at home on full pay - but I've paid out nearly £3k in nursery fees that I haven't needed and my mental health is in tatters. I asked to return to work in March ffs.

HR know what I want, mediation and a return to work but my line manager doesn't want it. How does she have this sort of power?!

OP posts:
RandomMess · 04/11/2020 10:38

I don't think your manager does and I do wonder if HR are giving them enough rope to hang themselves and be dismissed...

Titslikepicassos · 04/11/2020 10:57

@RandomMess - I would love that to be the case - fairly sure it’s just sheer incompetence though!

RandomMess · 04/11/2020 11:08

😂 at your comment

Cannot believe what a shit show you are experiencing!!

Star81 · 04/11/2020 11:18

This is totally ridiculous. How can a company behave like this. Well done for fighting it all this far !

tttigress · 04/11/2020 11:24

Haven't read all 29 pages.

But could it be your direct boss is going rogue? I have seen quite a few cases were a lower level or middle manager becomes a law unto themselves, with little regard for what the company at a higher level is trying to achieve.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 04/11/2020 11:43

In my experience, when grievances are complex, they can take on a life of their own, especially when no one in HR feels able to take action.

Seems to me that it's clear cut sex discrim, but the line manager has probably expressed, 'reservations,' as far as having @Titslikepicassos back and most companies leave the managers to manage and don't interfere.

The fact that she is on full pay is evidence that they are unclear about what to do, and if she has a half decent union rep, this is the time when he/she will need to go to top management and say, 'unless Tits is reinstated, then we are in dispute...'

Titslikepicassos · 04/11/2020 11:47

Oh and helpfully - My union rep has disappeared, snowed under with covid work issues!

@ilovemydogandMrObama - seems spot on. The whole thing is complex and messy

JeNeComprendsPas · 04/11/2020 12:44

Have you seen Pregnant Then Screwed (I follow them on Instagram) this is exactly the sort of thing they help with, they have a legal team that may speed things up with HR (if the union team are snowed under?)

Titslikepicassos · 04/11/2020 13:08

@JeNeComprendsPas - they were one of the first organisations I went to. All the charities seem as snowed under as my union rep!

I'm on my own but this thread and the posters have kept me going! Thanks

Shocking no wonder this is affecting your MH. Can you send a chaser email today saying you were meant to hear from them Monday & still haven't?

Titslikepicassos · 05/11/2020 11:37

Chaser email sent - looking forward to being ignored 🤦🏼‍♀️

Help please

OP posts:
MrsSchadenfreude · 06/11/2020 15:46

How, what and why? Surely you have a case for unfair dismissal?

Titslikepicassos · 06/11/2020 15:48

They've sent a letter that they won't support mediation so my employment is terminated from today.

OP posts:
MrsSchadenfreude · 06/11/2020 16:07

Stick with the tribunal. Your case must be even stronger now.

Titslikepicassos · 06/11/2020 16:16

They're saying I've resigned
