Found a phone in my garden - isolated property - shit scared

Name changed for this - Sorry if this seem trivial, I know people are dealing with far bigger things at the moment.

I found a phone lying on the ground, about 5 yards from my house.

We live in an isolated property about a mile away from the first road. We have not have any visitors , maintenance people for many weeks (obviously). Delivery drivers, yes, but they would not have any reason to go to this part of the garden/couldn't access it during daytime without us seeing something.
At first I assumed it belonged to one of us, but no! Confused
Phoned the police, have a ref./case number, etc. but they're busy and will get back to us when they can.
The police said to take the phone indoors and wait for their call/visit.

I am worried that the next visit is going to be from whomever the phone belongs to.
The phone is dead as a dodo but I assume it still can be found?

What should do?

bunny you don't technically close it, but your post is a fitting end to your updates...unless we get a not too identifiable photo of your new guard doggy at some stage Wink
I've read from the beginning (in real-time) and some posters have been v supportive to you.
I hope you get some sleep soon. Flowers

ScarredBunny · 01/05/2020 06:39

@pussycatinboots - Dog can be very quick, or not, I've been told. Fingers crossed.
You've read in real time? you must not sleep a lot, or a different time zone?

Yes, I meant they had been supportive doesn't it come across like that? Sad

ScarredBunny · 01/05/2020 06:40

Oh and you deserve Flowers for that @pussycatinboots

I don't sleep particularly well except last night so sometimes your 1am posts I'd catch up on to at 3am iyswim and I've been checking back with your thread regularly, so not just sat down and read from the beginning in one go.

Your only real choice is to fill the thread up, but you'd need 200+ posts to get you to the magic 1000.

I think you've been really brave. I would have freaked out totally in your shoes.

And no, your post was fine. I was agreeing that some have been amazing with their support and advice. There's been the odd "odd" one Grin but that's life, and kept the thread rolling along.

ScarredBunny · 01/05/2020 07:11

@Pussycatinboots- I hope you start sleeping better at some point.
I did freak out Grin that's why I started the thread. I agree with you about the odd ones, they invariably hadn't been reading but it's ok; I used them to let some steam out Blush

ScarredBunny Listening to you talk about your dog reminded me of ours. Large breed, you’d be in bed and wake up shivering. Go downstairs and he’s be fast asleep on the sofa, on his back all four legs raised to the ceiling, and the front door wide open. He’d let himself out (he could open doors) have a wee in the garden and come in and go back to sleep. He just couldn’t shut the bloody door behind him! luckily he was big enough that you could have only used a gun to stop him.

OldCow1 · 01/05/2020 09:25

Hope all goes well with your new dog when he or she arrives. Thank you for the thread. It's great you haven't let one or two negative posts get to you. I think you're right. They're people who haven't read the whole thread.

ScarredBunny · 01/05/2020 10:44

@Reallymissthegym -So helpful! Grin

Flowers @OldCow1 -
In retrospect some of my posts are really not easy to understand Confused in some I've even written the opposite of what I meant Hmm

To be fair, that can be off-putting Grin

Hi @ScarredBunny , I hope things have calmed down now. It took me days to go through all 31 pages inbetween looking after my children and managing housework, home education and the messaging of husbands legs, my daily job that he loves lol.

Crikey, I would have been absolutely petrified if it was me. I have had some horrific experiences myself with burglary and stalking which I will share shortly. I found some of the responses hilarious. Especially the dogs, which had their own positions of head of security and personal close protection hahaha. Was laughing for a good while.

Also I love how you write OP, You should be an author. I bet you could write a brilliant book.

I myself had a horrific experience in my early 20s in 2011. I had a really awful time of it and it took me years to get over it. I wouldn't mind sharing my story on your post if you like OP????

Hanamuslim · 01/05/2020 12:13

When we move out of this apartment, I am definitely investing in huge and enormous rottweilers and German shepherds. Maybe even lions, I wish.

When I was being stalked, I always wished I could turn into a lion, rip the door open and scare my stalker away!!!!

Summerofloaf · 01/05/2020 12:46

Thanks Apple.

LilacTree1 · 01/05/2020 15:10

I’m genuinely interested in learning how to handle dogs, especially for security

But when the world opens up, I don’t know where would be the right place to go to learn.

ScarredBunny · 01/05/2020 16:10

Hello @Hanamuslim - I am so very sorry you've had to go through such an ordeal, it's very sad to hear that. I hope - and it sounds as - you're doing okay now, good for you. FlowersSmile

Of course you're very welcome to share on this thread if you wish!
There are some good souls here. (and I'll be your lion and defend you against the nutters if they show up) - Where on Earth are you from that you are thinking of lions in such a casual , practical way Hana? Grin

Thanks for the compliment Blush

{[hmm]@scarredbunny Hmm @carredbunny still going back on the thread anyway Hmm}

@GREATAUNT1 - It takes so little effort to do (checking the car) - not worth not doing really Smile
-There's no prison around here!? Closest is 24/25 miles as the crow flies.

@Summerofloaf - (I’m sure OP knew that) You overestimate my sangfroid Grin Don't blame you for having a little thread-fatigue though, it's all been quite odd Smile

@GinnyStrupac - It's exactly the lesson I take away from it. FlowersThanks for sharing that and sorry you went through something bad.Sad

EricaNernie · 02/05/2020 09:59

it is a relief that you werent worried at the time op,

GinnyStrupac · 02/05/2020 16:27

Thank you, Bunny - hopefully you can drop the scarred/scared now? Flowers You never forget and it never fully leaves you - it changes you somehow - but time and life moves on, and settles down, and gradually it's ok again. On the subject of dogs, ours by nature guard their people rather than the property. So if at home or out, although they are perfect gentlemen and gentleladies normally, woe betide anyone who threatened their people. If left home alone, they would welcome interlopers for the company with open paws and drooling jaws - though whether they could get out again is debateable - we would probably find them pinned down and terrified by overfriendly hefty beasts.

GinnyStrupac · 02/05/2020 16:33

On the subject of home security dogs, they can be incredibly expensive and please be aware that sadly not all training methods used by some in the field are humane.

LiteraryType · 02/05/2020 18:58

Sorry if this has been said already (a lot of posts) but have the police found out who the phone belongs to?

Jenasaurus · 20/07/2020 03:07

Just wondering if the phone had found its owner yet

KarmaStar · 20/07/2020 10:59

Did you see the video clip where the gull flew off with someone's mobile phone?

TomNook · 14/08/2020 04:27

Oh please update @ScarredBunny

TomNook · 16/08/2020 09:43

Waaaah. I need to know. (I don’t but hey)

LadyEloise · 20/09/2020 09:50

@ScarreBunny
Any update please ?

LadyEloise · 20/09/2020 12:23
