Found a phone in my garden - isolated property - shit scared

Name changed for this - Sorry if this seem trivial, I know people are dealing with far bigger things at the moment.

I found a phone lying on the ground, about 5 yards from my house.

We live in an isolated property about a mile away from the first road. We have not have any visitors , maintenance people for many weeks (obviously). Delivery drivers, yes, but they would not have any reason to go to this part of the garden/couldn't access it during daytime without us seeing something.
At first I assumed it belonged to one of us, but no! Confused
Phoned the police, have a ref./case number, etc. but they're busy and will get back to us when they can.
The police said to take the phone indoors and wait for their call/visit.

I am worried that the next visit is going to be from whomever the phone belongs to.
The phone is dead as a dodo but I assume it still can be found?

What should do?

How lovely ! What an amazing colour.

ScarredBunny · 28/04/2020 20:38

@Summerofloaf - Grin I don't know what you are picturing but it's not exactly the grounds of Blenheim Palace; you can't actually take a drive through the garden! Grin there's a gate at one end a gate at the other end. They drove from one gate to the other and turned back. Kicking myself now for not charging admission!Grin

Ya'll gave me an idea for a themed tour:
--- 'Hello and welcome to ScarredBunny Den! Please step in and watch your step, as you'll find many ScarredBunnies' shoes scattered along our route;
Imagine what these ancient walls have seen and with me, wonder: what the bloody point of that is, if can't tell us?
Let's proceed to the very spot where it all began, one fine morning, in the Spring of 2020...'

Should I have merchandise?Hmm

Thanks for the pic OP!

AppleJane · 28/04/2020 20:47

I've just read the whole thread - some replies on here are even more bizarre than finding a phone in your remote garden.

OP you've got this!

Regardless of why it happened, hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Lights, CCTV, beautiful new dog, whatever it takes to get your mojo back Thanks

ScarredBunny · 28/04/2020 20:52

@GnomeDePlume - I love it all! It's genius.
The compact & bijou holiday cottage will wash its own face from day one; the suckers, I mean, guests will be the security!
So, it's a yes to merch?
You do have an eye for business, you must be doing ever so well in life.

@SirVixofVixHall - severe pruning, my specialty, last Summer; never seen this strong before. I prefer white lilac but I'll put up with this one!

@LilacTree1 - You're welcome.

@AppleJane - Thank you for saying that Flowers It's been quite surreal at times, right?
Yep onwards and upwards Grin

Don’t forget the tea towels, possibly with a print of a phone/GSD/ police car on them 😉

ScarredBunny · 28/04/2020 21:21

P E R F E C T ! @JKScot4 You're a marketing genius too.
I'll start with the teeshirt, there are websites for that Grin
If this take off I'll buy some garden furniture, and chain it down of course.

I cannot believe how gripped I’ve been by this thread. Just read all of it and, in parts, is very amusing.
OP I would have been scared on finding an unknown phone like this.
However, you will take care of security lights, alarms, the lot. So if it was a potential burglar, you’ll be much better protected. So a useful warning all around.
We had a break in through the garden which served as a serious warning in terms of security and we were very lucky to learn it that way without serious consequences. The dog was the one that raised the alarm. We did improve the security afterwards and feel much safer now.
Are there many burglaries nowadays, seeing that most people are at home all the time because of the lockdown?
I second the foxes idea. I saw them come right up to the garden door looking in to the house so they can be quite brave. Every now and then I see a pair of eyes in the dark on a wall, and I still get scared but that’s always been a fox. They once took flip flops I forgot in the garden overnight into my neighbour’s garden- they would have had to climb over the walls to get out., DH’s walking boots sometimes are strewn around if we forget to close the garage door before it gets dark, regularly moving my dog’s toys. So they do get up to a lot.
An inverted story here, a visitor to our house mislaid/lost her phone very late in the evening in our garden. Didn’t realise until next morning. Nobody took it, we looked everywhere for a whole week, turned absolutely everything over, checked the outside perimeter, if it was still there, we would have found the phone. We even looked in the house although it could not have been in the house. Only conclusion was that a fox found it over night and took it away. No proof but no other possible explanation.
I love your lilac tree!

DanFmDorking it’s got to be a phone cover

justilou1 · 28/04/2020 21:58

I think we need a t-shirt with big, tough-guy bunnies with scars and tatts and some piercings as well. Matching tea towels. Ooooh and mugs and snow globes. Love snow globes.

@DanFmDorking
Could there be one with a long winding road with the garden at end or a gsd at end of the road?

DanFmDorking · 28/04/2020 22:03

Sorry - I forgot to reset the throgmorton value.

This should be a better picture.

ScarredBunny · 29/04/2020 00:56

@Branster - I'm sorry you had a break in Flowers and glad that there were no bad consequences. You and I have drawn the same conclusions, it's a warning and let's sharpen up. I feel very fortunate too to have found a clue, we might as well have never known and could have been in for a nasty surprise. At least now we are warned and (almost completely) ready. Very lucky.
Every now and then I see a pair of eyes in the dark on a wall errr... Bloody hell, that's a bit startling!
And what was your friend's phone like? Wink (Hoping for an amazing twist)
I've only ever seen one fox around here, quite a while ago and posters here have said that the dog wouldn't stare and bark at a fox but would go for it and that a fox would always run from a dog so I'd almost completely dismissed the fox theory. However, that dark corner the dog was barking at; maybe it was a fox cornered and with no other choice but to cower my dog.

Shock OMG - FFF- I've just remembered something. When my dog was barking at the dark corner, he was staring up, not down like for a fox.
I looked to see what he could be worried about and next to the dark corner was the shadow this large scarf still on the washing line so I went to take it down to show him it was okay but he didn't stop barking and staring I thought about looking in the corner, but no, f. that, not looking in dark corners the dog is barking at in the middle of the night). He was barking at something sort of head high. He let me go there on my own too, the bugger.

So before that breakthrough I posted pics of teeshirts for the gift shop but they're nowhere, I'll try again:

Do you think there is a market for these:
