To not understand clapping for kids

Why are we now doing this? The premise I’ve seen is that their lives have been turned upside down, no longer able to see family or friends. Isn’t that all of us? And surely if they don’t understand why we’re on lockdown, they’re not going to understand us clapping?
Hasn’t this gone a bit far?
I do have kids, and they are most definitely affected, but I don’t feel the need to clap for them especially and they don’t want me to.

It didn't happen here thankfully but there is still time to limber up for S Club 7 Confused

BrooHaHa · 05/04/2020 17:56

I'm stuck at home with a toddler 24/7. Where's my bloody clap?

InFiveMins · 05/04/2020 18:02

The whole clapping "thing" just needs to stop altogether to be honest. Don't get me wrong I respect all of our key workers, but clapping on doorsteps is very strange...

Tomselleckhaskindeyes · 05/04/2020 18:11

Tbh my kids have been great and really well behaved since we have finished. I think they deserve a clap.

hannabarbera · 05/04/2020 18:16

Clap for this clap for that, “celebs” thanking on TV/social media etc.

I don’t buy into shit like this. I appreciate all workers being the brain surgeon in hospital or the cleaner wiping down the light switches at my work. We All appreciate them but don’t need to clap.

Church bells rang near me at 8pm last Thursday. What next?

Well give them one, nobody else needs to!

JRUIN · 05/04/2020 18:49

Most kids, if their parents are (able to be) doing it right will be loving life right now and are the very last people who I would be clapping for. What the fuck is this idiocy?

crustycrab · 05/04/2020 18:52

I've just clapped them. They looked at me like I was insane 😂

Oneearringlost · 05/04/2020 18:59

STOP THE CLAPPING.

bluebluezoo · 05/04/2020 19:44

I shall be doing this one:

To not understand clapping for kids

I'm not comfortable agreeing with Katie Hopkins.

boli · 05/04/2020 20:10

Utter bullshit

BrooHaHa · 05/04/2020 20:25

Ah, even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

I wonder if the bell ringers were social distancing? Grin

At my local church, the bell ringers are really close to each other, there's bugger all room in that tower.

hannabarbera · 05/04/2020 20:43

Possibly. There us only one bell at each church😂
