I'm having one of those periods where people just seem rubbish. Inconsiderate drivers, dog walkers leaving poo all over the pavement, friends being hurt and let down by others...it's all really getting to me lately.

I'd really love to hear about things that have made you smile lately, especially acts of kindness and thoughtfulness. Help drag me back out of this misanthropy!

@QuinoaWest pointy dogs, gorgeous!

A friend (more of an acquaintance) head hunted me for a job. It wasn’t her final decision, her line manager did that. I’m delighted!

A little chap in Year 8 told me he wouldn’t want any other teacher than me. The SEND department tried to remove him because they thought he wouldn’t cope in my subject. He’s been FABULOUS! In the same group, the 2 ‘naughties’ have been angels and produced amazing homework this week. I’m just over the moon. 🌝🥰

My 4 year old is learning to talk and it's the cutest. The sound of her saying 'he-wo' makes my heart swell

MySofaHasACatOnIt · 13/03/2020 21:49

My DD has learnt how to sit up by herself this week. She also has learnt to say Dada. Makes my heart melt!

GratitudeGoddess · 14/03/2020 10:00

Thank you for starting this post. I've been having a bad week and had supervision for my work yesterday and my supervisor sat with me while I cried. She said nothing and just sat with me. She was full of so much kindness and love that I felt completely calm, uplifted and supported.

This photo DH sent me.

penguinsonparade I think my DH will also have to admit that it was a good buy. He's not quite come to terms with it yet though. Because our 10 year old Dyson, that was free, and owes us absolutely nothing, is still 'looking at him'. He told me that he wanted to fix said Dyson but that was 2 weeks ago. I'm sure he'll change his tune when he attends his duties and vacuums the stairs though 🙄

We're getting an extension and for the last 2 days haven't had access to the kitchen.

Several neighbours have all had us round for breakfast, lunch and dinner and done our washing. Thankfully kitchen available today

Really can't put a price on great neighbours.

YeahWhatevver · 14/03/2020 10:56

Another

Overheard our DS12 who's slowly becoming more and more independent and too cool for parents came into the kitchen and said to his dad "dad, I really, really love you."

Totally made me smile (and tear up)

^ Seemed appropriate for this thread, somehow.

My son being a surfer dude during his swimming lesson this afternoon - jumped on the big mat to jump in and struck a fab surfer pose! He is 3 and never seen surfing!

Letitgoooooo · 14/03/2020 22:38

20 month old DS2 (brother to Frozen maniac DS1) keeps bursting into song: "Et go, et goooooo..." his expression is the best bit Grin

I read today that Connie Yates and Chris Gard are expecting another baby. All the tests have been done and their new arrival will be absolutely fine. I'm not usually one for pregnancy announcements but this one filled me with joy.

babybythesea · 14/03/2020 23:59

DD, age 6, saying “Mummy, I love you more than there are stars in the sky. And that’s a big lot.”
Listening to my eldest, age 11, sitting in her bedroom with her best friend, laughing so hard they could both hardly breathe.

BBC News - Christmas Island: 'A giant robber crab stole my camera'
www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-51867525

This just tickled me, especially the way the camera's owner is not upset or angry at all!

I was feeling very low yesterday morning but pushed myself to go parkrunning. My friend saw I was struggling and suggested we walk at the back and chat. Everyone was really positive and welcoming as they ran past us and as we finished

Everytime I sit on the couch with my legs up, he jumps into his spot.

The other night, seeing my daughter's 6ft 3 boyfriend who was staying over, wearing her dressing gown (waistline around his chest and hem above the knees) standing around waiting for me to finish washing my hands so he could use the bathroom and passing the time cuddling our cat up against his shoulder like a baby. The general goofy sweetness made me think that if he turned out to be The One for her I'd be happy with that Smile

Marking a maths paper last week. A yr 8 pupil had to describe a transformation of triangle A to B. B was smaller than A. In maths we still call this an enlargement, but she wasn’t sure so called it ‘ensmall’
😀
Really made me giggle in what was quite a tough week at school.

NecklessMumster · 15/03/2020 19:41

On Friday the lady in Greg's put an extra large coffee in my refillable cup and gave me a double stamp on my loyalty card

ThatLibraryMiss · 15/03/2020 20:13

Three years ago Small Dog had a ruptured spinal disc. He lost the use of his back legs and we weren't sure if he'd walk again.

Every time I see him running and enjoying being a dog it makes me smile. He's such a happy little soul.

Phineyj · 15/03/2020 22:13

I have had a really crap week but every time I see next door's two year old he looks absolutely thrilled to see me. It cheers me up every time!

LefttoherownDevizes · 16/03/2020 08:40

I walk past a cherry tree on my way into work and have been taking a photo of it every day to track it's transformation. It had some leaves and buds when I walked past on Friday, this morning it has exploded int o flower.

It has cheered me up enormously Grin
