Online says this about the other page:

Some of the posts on social media also share a third image of a book page without any attribution (here), wrongly suggesting it is part of the same book. This page reads: “In around 2020 a severe pneumonia-like illness will spread throughout the globe, attacking the lungs and the bronchial tubes and resisting all known treatments”.

This page does not belong to “The Eyes of Darkness”. It comes from the 2008 book “End Of Days: Predictions and prophecies about the end of the world Paperback” by Sylvia Brown, an American author who claimed to be a psychic

So any things have been written over the years and have not come true. It’s chance when one does and everyone jumps on it.

opticaldelusion · 29/02/2020 10:04

It doesn't resist all known treatments. It's a coronavirus. We understand them well and know how to treat the symptoms. It's just a new one so there's no immunity yet. Same with all new viruses that start in animals. It's also likely that a pandemic will be a pneumonia type illness. What else would it be? And he just got lucky with 2020. I'm really not getting the hysteria.

dementedpixie · 29/02/2020 10:06

Dean Koontz didnt predict the 2020 virus. It's from a different book ^^ see above

Re Sylvia the 'psychic': even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

Konicek007 · 29/02/2020 10:19

I heard it’s hoax

Oblomov20 · 29/02/2020 10:23

I'm always impressed when kootz and other writers investigate things, scientifically, for their books.

Willow2017 · 29/02/2020 11:04

I am always impressed when kootz and other writers investigate things, scientifically, for their books.

And some of the science is terrifying! Not for the faint hearted😁😁

Fortunately, this answers all the questions I will ever have about COVID-19. Twitter link Much better than Dean Koontz.

60 Giga Hertz 5G eh?. Not that it would be much use the range on 60 G is SFA!.

Ooh I love a good conspiracy theory, I’m not a conspiracy theory nut but I do find some of them intriguing and they do make you think especially when they could be a possibility. It will be very interesting if it goes the exact same way as it says in the book. They are only called conspiracy’s because they are far fetched from the reality most people will believe.

Mutunus · 29/02/2020 15:14

And there's a new TV adaptation of The Stand coming out this year.
That must be more than a coincidence surely Smile

Userpompom · 29/02/2020 15:19

So many things have been written as part of scifi/speculative fiction a few are going to turn out to happen close enough to the truth.

What do you think is going on here? Like a random author wrote about this after time travelling or they knew about it 30 years before it happened and felt the way to warn the world was in a fiction book? That the infection was deliberate? Why would this be the case?

Sockmonster23 · 29/02/2020 16:50

I hope I didn't read one poster say 'I hope one day the authorities deal with conspiracy theorists the same way they deal with looters? Is that you Boris/trump?Grin seriously the world is drowning in untruths. Orwelian state here we come with daft idiots saying stuff like that.
Let us all believe what the authorities say without being able to question anything?never going to happen 🙄
