To think at 40 I’m too old to wear false eyelashes?

Potkettlexx · 19/02/2020 21:13

Just that really. I think when younger women wear these they look so lovely as they have no fine lines etc... but at 40 I do have fines etc and not the same as as the 20 year old me.

Less is more when you’re older I find so I’m wondering will I look like mutton dressed as lamb wearing these on a meal/drinks out?

You can get very natural looking ones, they look good on everyone. But no one looks good in obviously fake lashes.

justasking111 · 19/02/2020 21:15

My friend has started wearing them at 51, she looks fab. so try them.

YakkityYakYakYak · 19/02/2020 21:16

I think it’s more about the quality of them. Too long, fake looking lashes look awful on anyone, whatever age. Natural looking, good quality lashes can look great. Try individual lashes instead of strips. Or look into getting an LVL lash lift if you think false lashes are too much.

MiniTheMinx · 19/02/2020 21:18

I don't think its necessarily an age thing, although maybe it is because lashes tend to thin or appear shorter as you age. I think mainly though it's a face shape, eye shape thing. I look crowded and piggy eyed Grin

Shmithecat2 · 19/02/2020 21:18

Ardell Whispies are fab. YANBU to wear falsies at 40.

Belindabelle · 19/02/2020 21:19

I am 50 and wear them sometimes. I couldn't afford them at 20, couldn't be arsed at 40 but I feel I can do whatever the hell I like at 50.

DuploTower · 19/02/2020 21:21

Definitely not. You get all kinds.

SpinachMushroom · 19/02/2020 21:21

Sharon (Watts) wears them at 50, Grace (& Frankie) at 80.

Yogawoogie · 19/02/2020 21:23

Try them and see how they look. You will change your mind.

CarolinaPink · 19/02/2020 21:24

No! Wear whatever you like. People who might judge you are not worth concerning yourself with Thanks

Thebishopofbanterbury · 19/02/2020 21:50

Wear them! I'm thinking of getting lash extensions and I'm 42 this year! As long as they are natural looking ones that's the main thing..

Potkettlexx · 20/02/2020 00:10

Well I’ll get myself some for the weekend! Thanks ladies.

I've voted YABU, wear what the hell you like!
I say this as a 40 something woman lol

goodgirlinchachaheels · 20/02/2020 11:06

There is no such things as too old for.
I wear them. You can wear whatever you want at any age.

ISawNessie · 20/02/2020 11:08

Go for it!

bellabasset · 20/02/2020 11:12

I would wear some natural looking ones if I didn't have dry eyes.

lachy · 20/02/2020 11:15

If I could get the bloody things on I'd wear them.

but I can't, I'm too cack handed

Nowayorhighway · 20/02/2020 11:16

I’ve never personally worn them but I think the huge obviously fake ones look ridiculous on anyone, you can get more natural ones.

flirtygirl · 20/02/2020 11:28

Yabu for thinking anything is out at any age.

If you like them then try them and if they suit you then wear them.
That applies to all fashion items.

I will never get the musts and shoulds/shouldn'ts about long hair, short hair, nails etc.

Do you and do the best you that you can.

Thymelord · 20/02/2020 11:32

I wear them every day, i'm 40. 40 is young Confused

GinNotGym19 · 20/02/2020 11:39

No just get natural ones! I really like ardell ones. I think everyone looks better with falsies

Cornettoninja · 20/02/2020 11:43

Sharon (Watts) wears them at 50

ConfusedGrin not the best example imho

Go for it OP. They’re not a permanent fixture so it doesn’t matter if you decide against it. I think results can be really variable so it might be worth starting subtle and building on that.

In the mists of time when I had the time to get nail extensions done I always had them shorter than the person doing them expected because of my job. They always looked great but not so obviously false, more of an enhancement that wasn’t immediately obvious.

Bluewater1 · 20/02/2020 11:47

Your body, your choice, wear what you like, regardless of age

LizziesTwin · 20/02/2020 11:51

A friend of mine had some done for her nephew’s wedding, she’s 70+. They open up her eyes & flatter her without making her look overdone.

Toucan123 · 20/02/2020 11:54

I'm 44 and I wear them every day. It's never even crossed my mind that I might be "too old" for them.
