To think at 40 I’m too old to wear false eyelashes?

Just that really. I think when younger women wear these they look so lovely as they have no fine lines etc... but at 40 I do have fines etc and not the same as as the 20 year old me.

Less is more when you’re older I find so I’m wondering will I look like mutton dressed as lamb wearing these on a meal/drinks out?

I’m 40 and like a PP would wear them if I could actually get the on. I’m hopeless at it!

Growingboys · 21/02/2020 08:07

Yes you are too old. Don't do it. TBH they look crap on everyone I think.

Zhuleva · 21/02/2020 08:12

No, you're not too old! If you'd wear a pair at 20, wear two pairs at 40

TheChosenTwo · 21/02/2020 08:20

Of course you’re not too old, how can you be too old to wear stick on eyelashes?! There is no age limit Grin
I don’t wear them, nothing to do with my age, just something I have never bothered with. My eyes are quite deepest and I have hooded eyes too so I think they would just be crowded and squashed, plus I’m very squeamish about anything going too close to my eyes so I’m not going to start trying now!
Go for it, I’ve seen some magnetic ones that you paint on a magnetic liner for and then the lashes just attach themselves - they sound a bit gimmicky but I saw someone do it on YouTube and they worked surprisingly well.

Ooh good thread thanks op. I’m 55 and have been toying with the idea.

My dds wear them but I’ve never considered myself to be too old for things like this - life’s too short to give that idea a seconds thought! The subtle extensions I’ve seen my friends get look amazing.

I want to try myself first before committing to extensions, but they look very fiddly. Has anyone tried the magnetic ones? Do they fall off?

CinnnemonBeauty · 21/02/2020 08:49

I’m 39 and wear them out/occasions etc - I also have naturally very long lashes so they don’t look too fake it just thickens them out

greenflower279 · 21/02/2020 09:20

MIL wears them on occasion at 59. They look lovely, go for it!

Boireannachlaidir · 21/02/2020 09:31

What a horrifically sexist expression "mutton dressed as lamb"Hmm

Wear what the fuck you like. It's your life Confused

catface5 · 21/02/2020 11:45

Never too old to do something that will make you feel glam. You can get really natural looking ones. But I'm sure you look great without them too :)

DieCryHate · 21/02/2020 12:12

For any false lash novices, a poster up thread suggested ardell wispies and I agree. Also recommend duo eyelash glue and using tweezers on the middle of the band then pressing either side. You can also trim them if they're too big for your lash line. Wait until the glue goes tacky before applying.

Also if you find false lashes you like and decide to get the extensions, you'll have something to compare to when deciding on length and thickness.

Is there anything we could stick on you to improve your unpleasant outlook??

Bubblemonkey · 21/02/2020 12:22

Give em a go. Worst case u dislike them

stopgap · 21/02/2020 12:28

I think they look great. A friend of mine is Chinese and has no natural lashes. She’s 46, and they look amazing on her.

FizzyIce · 21/02/2020 12:33

As long as they’re not those hideous Russian lashes then they can look lovely .
Only ever had lash extensions for my wedding but then I can’t being arsed going to get them done
