I had a connecting train ticket with one minute inbetween (Trainline booked) to Manchester Piccadilly.

I missed it as mine was late and I contacted them on twitter and the response I got was - it was never a connecting ticket anyway and I was actually expected to walk from Manchester Oxford Road to Piccadilly.

Sorry it was Manchester Victoria I was expected to walk to not Piccadilly

A one minute window is a bit silly, isn't it.

Drowningmysorroes · 12/02/2020 21:27

Yes but it’s the fact that even though I booked my ticket to Manchester Victoria he said I had no connection and that I was expected to walk between stations.

You haven’t given enough information for anyone to help. The details must have been given when you booked.

smashstore · 12/02/2020 21:34

It wouldn’t have been an accepted connection with one minute in between and you must have booked separate journeys. No TOC would give a connection of one minute.

Drowningmysorroes · 12/02/2020 21:39

I’ve had one before that short, it’s on the same platform.

OP posts:
smashstore · 12/02/2020 21:42

You booked 2 separate journeys? Or the TOC sold you a ticket that included a one minute connection? From another station?

Ohtherewearethen · 12/02/2020 21:43

Why on earth would you make a booking with one minute in between trains? It takes longer than that to get off the train. How you thought this would work is completely beyond me. You shouldn't have booked it.

CakeandCustard28 · 12/02/2020 21:44

You gave yourself a minute to change trains? What? You’re own fault OP.

Nowayorhighway · 12/02/2020 21:50

This often happens in Manchester but not with a minute to spare because it’s obviously not possible. You must have cocked up somehow, did you book separate journeys?

AutumnRose1 · 12/02/2020 21:51

Second a pp saying you’ve not given enough info

How was the ticket/journey sold?

DaveGrohlsMuse · 12/02/2020 21:55

If you booked two separate tickets then it's on you I'm afraid OP!

Strugglingtoquit · 12/02/2020 21:59

YABU for booking it with one minute to change, and I’m guessing you didn’t book it as a through journey because I’m pretty sure the systems would have a minimum of 5 minutes between trains, more if you actually have to walk to a different station.

It’s a long time since I was catching trains to Manchester, but I’m pretty sure Piccadilly isn’t on the same lines as Victoria or Oxford Road do you would always need to walk or maybe get a tram between them.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 12/02/2020 22:04

I think, if I understand correctly.

OP put in that she wanted to travel to Manchester Victoria.

What she ended up with was a ticket to Manchester Oxford Road

She had not checked that the ticket she was booking was correct so assumed that she had booked a trip with a change to a train that would complete the last mile of her journey, albeit with one 1 min change time.

She is unhappy that the ticket booking system and customer service rep thought it reasonable that she walk the 1 mile between Oxford road and Victoria stations.

I agree with the customer service rep.

smashstore · 12/02/2020 22:09

Manchester Piccadilly has a minimum 10 minute connection time so there sis absolutely no way the ticket was booked as one journey. Particularly as the second part of the journey left from another station. The tickets must have been single tickets which means OP is responsible for the fact that the second ticket was from a different station.

Drowningmysorroes · 12/02/2020 23:33

I booked ONE ticket to Manchester Victoria.

They gave me a 1 minute change over time. When I complained the advisor on twitter said even though I’d booked to go to Victoria I was actually expected to walk there from Oxford Road.

I did NOT book TWO separate tickets. Geez.

Right so not 2 journeys at all?

The 'Geez' is unnecessary, you are not being clear.

Where did you start your journey? How many trains did you catch? What was the destination on the ticket?

Ohtherewearethen · 13/02/2020 08:35

Geez, try explaining things properly in your post! It barely makes sense and we are all trying to guess what's happened.

BritInUS1 · 13/02/2020 08:39

Start again OP and give all the facts clearly - your posts don’t make much sense

sittingonacornflake · 13/02/2020 08:44

I'm beyond confused. Sorry OP I can tell you're frustrated Sad

BaolFan · 13/02/2020 09:00

Did the journey that you booked actually go through to Victoria?

There's no way you could get from Oxford Road to Victoria in a minute, even if you were Usain Bolt! However if your end journey point was Victoria then you could have caught the free city bus if you didn't want to walk.

bridgetreilly · 13/02/2020 09:04

So there wasn't a connection at all? You just wanted to end up at Victoria, not Oxford Road? I don't understand what the one minute was for, then.

MrsCasares · 13/02/2020 10:00

I think I understand it. Op wanted to go to Man Vic. But was actually sold a ticket that terminated at Man Oxford. When she complained she was told that the last part of the journey from oxford street to man vic was by foot.

I hope you sang choo choo loudly as you made your way to man vic.

Yanbu. You where missold your rail ticket.

trianglular · 13/02/2020 10:39

Don't be ridiculous. The journey details are ALWAYS very clear, there is no 'missold' ticket here. OP is pissed because she didn't read the information properly.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 13/02/2020 14:04

So there was one ticket, just to a station the OP didn't want to go to? Is that it? In that case I don't understand the one minute trauma either.
But, in any case, yabu obviously. You haven't been missold anything. You made a cockup yourself.
