To want a toaster that.....

  1. Toasts ALL of the bread, both sides?
  2. Doesn't break in a matter of weeks?
  3. Doesn't cost the earth?
  4. Fits 4 normal sized slices of bread?

Hit me with your suggestions, please! I've looked at online reviews but they mainly seem to focus on how well it matches the bloody kettle or the kitchen curtains!

Yanbu. Feel your pain. Expensive toaster to match kitchen = crap
£6.50 toaster from sainsburys = spot on.....but it's a shiny red 😣

LettyFisher · 08/02/2020 21:02

I have the dualit architect toaster. It's cheaper than their main brand, but (I think) more stylish. Does everything you say in your OP.

Not amazingly cheap but really good.

Watching...

CherryPavlova · 08/02/2020 21:03

Dualit

anon2000000000 · 08/02/2020 21:04

I got one from asda for £16 that ticks all your boxes.

BonjourMinou · 08/02/2020 21:04

I got this one from next and it's brilliant:

www.next.co.uk/G598074s8/608098?dp=a&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=CjwKCAiA1fnxBRBBEiwAVUouUmu4lYAnwyyq7whpCoQ8VJQ6LpDRAAq2b-yI5GSc7dzQloazIq77ExoCAZoQAvD_BwE#608098

But my main criteria was it needed to be yellow! But it does toast the whole slice which is a marked improvement on our previous toaster.

NotYourHolidayDick · 08/02/2020 21:04

Yes! I have a kitchenaid toaster.

It is SO WANKY. I dont even press buttons, it senses the toast and goes down automatically.

I love it. Everyone needs one.

Shinycat · 08/02/2020 21:06

@Gadareen I got a 4 slice toaster from Argos (their own make,) some 5 years ago, for £20, and it's still going strong! Maybe try them... Smile

amaryl · 08/02/2020 21:10

Hester Blumentals smart toaster

amaryl · 08/02/2020 21:11

Hester!!🤣

MitziK · 08/02/2020 21:13

I want one that automatically detects DP's hand approaching the dial and delivers a painful but not fatal electric shock every time the bugger attempts to palm me off with singed bread, rather than actual toast.

If it could do the same when he inevitably (and deliberately) leaves the butter out to assume a liquid form, I'd probably want to marry it.

NotMeNoNo · 08/02/2020 21:16

We've had our Dualit old style 15 years I make that well over 25000 slices on the clock.

NotMeNoNo · 08/02/2020 21:18

But it cost the earth

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 08/02/2020 21:19

I have never had a toaster that actually fits a whole slice of bread Confused

What is that all about?

Are there secret shops that sell tiny loafs of toaster sized bread?!

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 08/02/2020 21:23

After 10 years I just got rid of my Murphy Richards 4 slice toaster at Christmas. Couldn't tell you what model it was though (sorry) sil bought dh and I this one for Christmas:
De'Longhi Vintage Icona CTOV4003AZ 4-Slice Toaster - Azure Blue www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009PXCFP6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_IAYpEbN5SW7YV?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Over a month in, it's really good!

Carimella · 08/02/2020 21:26

Teenage me once replaced a toaster purely because crumpets didn't fit in it. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I have yet to find a toaster that toasts the entire slice of bread though!

youngestisapsycho · 08/02/2020 21:33

I went back to grilling toast... it tastes so much nicer and gives a nice even browning.

2toe · 08/02/2020 21:41

De’Longhi Argento , great toaster.

KnightandDay · 08/02/2020 21:43

NotMeNoNo omg I really want a toaster that counts the no. of slices toasted!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/02/2020 21:46

We had a Tefal Avanti ( I think) it was a 2 slice .
Lasted years then started making a weird noise when it wasn't in use , but plugged in. (One of those I'm warning you I'm going to combust sounds maybe )

Got a Kealive 4 slice . Does the job, holds great big bloomer slices , 4 regular , bagels

SingingTunelessly · 08/02/2020 21:48

Dualit. Expensive but last forever (well 16 years so far) and actually produce toast at first go rather than warm, pale beige bread.

PixieDustt · 08/02/2020 21:50

My toasted is an Asda one. Got it for £12.50 in the sale. In all honesty I don't use it that much but it's a great toaster! Doesn't match my kettle but it stays in the cupboard so who cares! 🤣

NurseButtercup · 08/02/2020 21:52

@NotYourHolidayDick
I dont even press buttons, it senses the toast and goes down automatically

What kind of sorcery is this?? I want one please could you post a link?

PixieDustt · 08/02/2020 21:52

Also fits bread nicely obviously if you put it in sideways. I know people who put the bread upright in it Hmm

BloodyWorried · 08/02/2020 21:52

I third the Asda one
