Sorry, another Philip Schofield one...

I really couldn't care less about Philip Schofield's sexuality (or anyone else's) and good for him for finally being true to himself. But what makes me quite cross is all this talk of honesty and bravery, and the self-indulgent, tortured confessional in front of the nation when really it's of no importance to anyone who doesn't know him personally.

In the clip of his chat with Holly he asks repeatedly, "When is the right time?" In my opinion, the right time is before you get married to someone who believes you are straight. It's not brave, or honest, to make someone unwittingly provide you with the benefits of a heterosexual relationship, including children, so you can be viewed by the public as a "respectable family man". It's actually rather selfish.

I had a brief relationship with someone who I later discovered was gay. He didn't even have the balls to tell me directly, and it seriously screwed me up for a long time. I can't imagine what it must be like to find out your husband of 27 years is homosexual.

I'm not gay, so perhaps I am being unreasonable as I don't know what it is like to come out to friends and family (although I imagine it is easier now than it was thirty years ago) and I don't know whether PS really believed that he was in love with his wife when they got married. But I do think that leaving a duplicitous life which affects other people is not a kind or honourable thing to do and I feel very sorry for his wife and daughters who I think really have been brave.

Did he do anything illegal? And there in lies the golden question! I was wondering if there are still people left that didn’t know about this MM business and wow, it seems there are!

lilgreen · 13/02/2020 22:29

What has he done wrong ?

  1. Lied to his wife

2.Lied to his family

  1. Lied to his children

4.Lied to the public

  1. Possibly committed adultery
  1. Manipulated/hijacked his biased TV show for his own personal means.

That’ll do for starters.

OhioOhioOhio · 13/02/2020 22:33

Yeah, it's the radio silence that keeps me intrigued.

Stephanie has been 'reportedly left humiliated'

However, while Stephanie, 55, has no doubt been understanding towards his situation, a pal close to the pair has reportedly revealed that she's actually "absolutely shattered" by the outcome of their marriage as she feels they've been "living a lie".

www.express.co.uk/celebrity-news/1134158/phillip-schofield-wife-married-this-morning-host

Phillip Schofield has been on our screens for four decades, starting his career on BBC children’s TV shows in the mid-1980s. The silver-haired star, 56, now fronts ITV’s This Morning every day with co-host and best friend Holly Willoughby, 38. The telly husband and wife are known for giggling their ways through shows, forming a strong bond cemented from their early Dancing on Ice days. But outside of work, Phillip only has eyes for wife Stephanie Lowe, 55, who he married in 1993

knowmenclature · 14/02/2020 02:00

Why does that happen. Its most annoying, as I just gone back to the article on the page I had cooied and pasted the url link from...www.ok.co.uk/celebrity-news/phillip-schofield-wife-stephanie-lowe-21455211

I don't know why it keeps screwing up, because its there. Maybe the url on its own will work.

I’m just not buying into this, as believe she’s known all along he was gay. What I think she’s shattered about is finding out the circumstances in which PS met MM and his age.......

Hyrana · 14/02/2020 08:46

I think dear old Stef knew she was a Beard and knew from the get go. I am ages with PS and I knew he was gay in the 80's. I don't think anything bad about that, what a couple agree to sexually is their business.

What I do have issues with is did he groom a minor, if so who was complicit in the grooming? ITV? His dear wife Stef? His best friend Holly? Something smells and it is not nice.

Womenwotlunch · 14/02/2020 08:55

Agree with others. I definitely think his wife knew. I even knew as a child that he was gay.
I think that the wife is probably ‘absolutely shattered’ at the thought that her husband was (to my mind ) grooming this young man.
Also the fact that it could signify the death knell for the marriage
What I find quite interesting about the whole episode, is that a few weeks ago PS refused to acknowledge that racism was an issue in our society. I just wonder if he feels the same way about homophobia.

Inkanta · 14/02/2020 09:05

In last weeks interview he said he currently had no male partner and implied his wife will hang around until he does. I get the impression she has always been in the shadows , supporting him and everyone else. It’s time for her now to own the spotlight, state her needs and give responsibility back to those struggling to find their own answers . I hope she does.

Lordfrontpaw · 14/02/2020 09:09

Imagine if he said that if he was straight? Why is he crowing about this?

Henlie · 14/02/2020 09:24

I don’t think she’ll ever say anything.......and if she does I doubt we’ll ever hear the truth from her. There’s too much at stake here now. PS is their cash cow, they will protect his career and their lifestyle at all costs.

If MM doesn’t speak out publicly, then I wouldn’t be surprised if we see other jilted lovers coming out the woodwork - as without a doubt MM was by no means PS’s first misdemeanour.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/02/2020 09:38

I suspect that Stef was also groomed, but in a different way and for a different purpose.

Lordfrontpaw · 14/02/2020 09:41

Im wondering if this will effect Hollys squeaky clean giggly girl next door image as time goes on.

Aderyn19 · 14/02/2020 09:44

Also it's possible to both know something and not know it. People are really good at self delusion and can ignore mountains of evidence in order to convince themselves that what they want to be true is true.

HangingOffYourCloud · 14/02/2020 10:00

Stef's not going to say "I knew from the start and our relationship was a sham" is she? That would be a PR disaster.

Inkanta · 14/02/2020 10:06

I can't imagine her saying anything publicly. Not with children. However. she deserves to put herself first finally and I hope she eventually finds someone who truly loves her and fancies her in the way she wants.

Sackofspuds · 14/02/2020 10:13

Couldn't agree more. Feel the same about Megxit.

Dowser · 14/02/2020 10:46

I’m proud of the fact that MNHQ have kept this post running, when there’s been so many shut downs across social media..

That’s a beautiful photo of the two of them with their baby daughter. Such a shame it’s all ended up like this.
I also hope MM is getting the support he needs..he’s onLy what 22? Or 24? And he hasn’t just been chucked under a bus.
I certainly hope he hasn’t been groomed from a very young age as it could scar him for life.
Such a horrible , horrible mess.
And for Schofe to announce at the end of last weeks charade..I feel very proud

Just what was he thinking.
He’s turned the spotlight on his whole family. Most people didn’t know he was married anyway and now they , wife, daughter, mothers have to go about their daily lives in the full glare of public attention.

What a narc. He could’ve just walked quietly away..and then when he was spotted a few weeks or months later with a new partner just said..oh yes we parted a while back.
But no, he grabbed the spotlight for himself with no regard for anyone but himself..even dragging eamon, ruth and holly into the mix and his association with a man younger than his daughters with no regard for the attention he would receive either.

Vile man.

Dowser · 14/02/2020 10:48

There’s been talk of a flat in Southwark owned by PS where he allegedly took his lovers.

Dowser · 14/02/2020 10:52

Don’t think PM will be saying anything detrimental about PS..aren’t they good chums

Henlie · 14/02/2020 11:04

Re; PS’s Southwark flat I commented up thread about it. I guess it’s where he stays Sunday to Thursday when filming TM - and where we can now surmise he lives out his other life.
