Sorry, another Philip Schofield one...

I really couldn't care less about Philip Schofield's sexuality (or anyone else's) and good for him for finally being true to himself. But what makes me quite cross is all this talk of honesty and bravery, and the self-indulgent, tortured confessional in front of the nation when really it's of no importance to anyone who doesn't know him personally.

In the clip of his chat with Holly he asks repeatedly, "When is the right time?" In my opinion, the right time is before you get married to someone who believes you are straight. It's not brave, or honest, to make someone unwittingly provide you with the benefits of a heterosexual relationship, including children, so you can be viewed by the public as a "respectable family man". It's actually rather selfish.

I had a brief relationship with someone who I later discovered was gay. He didn't even have the balls to tell me directly, and it seriously screwed me up for a long time. I can't imagine what it must be like to find out your husband of 27 years is homosexual.

I'm not gay, so perhaps I am being unreasonable as I don't know what it is like to come out to friends and family (although I imagine it is easier now than it was thirty years ago) and I don't know whether PS really believed that he was in love with his wife when they got married. But I do think that leaving a duplicitous life which affects other people is not a kind or honourable thing to do and I feel very sorry for his wife and daughters who I think really have been brave.

Value loyalty ..I know photos can be doctored but
Have you seen the photo of him with a young mm who could be anywhere from 12 to 15
He’s with a group of other youngsters..members of a theatre group where you know who had some involvement

CallmeAngelina · 11/02/2020 14:16

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse How about going back and reading not just this thread but all the others that have referenced the young runner with the initials MM.

What is the Lorraine Kelly defence ?

AnneOfTeenFables · 11/02/2020 15:40

Lorraine Kelly said she shouldn't pay tax at a certain rate because she wasn't presenting as 'herself'. Instead, the Lorraine Kelly we see on TV is a character she has created for the role eg even if she hates guests, etc, she acts as though she's interested and likes them.
Pip could have said he created a faithful, straight family man presenting character 😉 and it wasn't ever who he really was.

I should imagineswers that Eamonn and Ruth were pretty fed up to have their programme high jacked. There must have been something about to break on Friday that had to be pre emptied by PS making his announcement. I expect Holly has to keep him happy by showing her support.

It’s like nothing ever happened now. I would like the programme to lose so many viewers that ITV are obliged to bin him.

Bluntness100 · 11/02/2020 16:47

To be fair he probably wanted holly to interview him, it would be odd if he chose to come out to Eamnon and Ruth. He's not supposed to be that close to them and he is close to holly.

I don't really know how super injunctions work, but from what I read about on the David furnish swinging thing, it does seem that the other side is prevented from telling their story. No one can publish it even if they do. So say this lad did have something to say, and we don't know he does, no one could publish it anyway. I don't know about personal blogs etc though, but assume even that's covered.

The basis is usually the damage it will do, career, kids, wife, whatever, and if the judge decides the public don't need to know v the damage it will cause is so significant, then they can order it to be effectively covered up from the public.

The issue with these things is two fold..you can't stop social media, it falls in the grey area and is very, very hard to control, you can't stop people talking about it. Delete one thing and something else pops up. It's like that bang a mole game.

And secondly you can't stop other countries publishing it. PS is not a global star, or even a eu one, just U.K., so likely other countries don't care, it won't be printed, but trying to stop social media will be simply impossible. Sites can only be expected to do so much.

One things for sure though, ps is in the middle of a proper shit storm due to the speculation all over the Internet, by millions of people.

BeyondReasonablyDoubtsLots · 11/02/2020 17:22

lilgreen · 11/02/2020 18:17

Lordfrontpaw · 11/02/2020 18:19

Jojoanna · 11/02/2020 18:39

I don’t think JD is gay he successfully sued The Face for libel

RapidRainbow · 11/02/2020 18:57

If a Super Injunction was in place, then we could assume there was no foul play I. E. Grooming? SI are more about reputation aren't they, they don't hide illegal activity.

So if a SI had been put in place to stop MM, we can assume his story was a kiss n tell and didn't also include an allegation of underage activity and grooming.

Which means while deceptive wrt affairs and relationships, its not as bad as the rumours would have it.

Facts do point to an affair between PS and MM, whether that was with Stephs permission or not is pure speculation.

I would be interested to know why the PR machine has gone so extreme, if its just a relationship that is none of the publics business then why? And why did this seemingly promising young talent thought he had something to gain. Perhaps it wasn't him who as going to spill the beans, perhaps things are amicable between them and they have agreed to neither deny nor confirm out of respect to Steph who called the shots on their relationship.

I think people also need to remember that the vulnerable teen we see trying to break into the industry is now a strapping 24 yera old. Even the reference to him being a Runner is a possible smear to build the image of someone young? Runner is an entry position at which he started 6 years ago, he has risen through the ranks and was now a Production Assistant according to credits.

I think we have to keep very open minds to all of the possibilities here and be careful of the people also trying to control our thoughts outside of the mainstream media!

RapidRainbow · 11/02/2020 18:59

Wrt my last sentence, I'm not into conspiracies! There could be many people with their own agenda putting out a fake narrative.
