To thing the icecream man is up to something?

It's January. It's 4c and it's raining.
Surely no one is buying enough icecream to make it worthwhile?
Yet the van is still slogging on, Yankeedoodling his way up and down the street.
We live in a village, there's no events nearby.

What about other stuff he sells?

The ice cream van here sells all sorts

Muddlingalongalone · 04/01/2020 15:53

The ice creamvans in both my home town & university supposedly used to drug deal as a side-line. I was shocked to find out!

CustardT · 04/01/2020 15:53

He’s selling drugs.

Singlebutmarried · 04/01/2020 15:53

Our old ice cream man (25+ years ago) used to sell single cigarettes and items for the more discerning smoker.

LigPatin · 04/01/2020 15:53

As far as I'm aware - he only sells icecream. That's all that's advertised anyway. No coffee, or hotdogs or milk - just icecream.

The ice cream is just a sideline, he’s laundering drug money

ALLMYSmellySocks · 04/01/2020 15:54

An ice cream van near my school used to sell individual cigarettes for 50p each to school kids. Another was a drug dealer.

cabbageking · 04/01/2020 15:54

Sometimes they sell drugs as well.
Sometimes they sell sweets and snacks.
Some are innocent ice cream sellers and some are not.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/01/2020 15:54

My DS will eat ice cream no matter what the weather is.

Of course he could always be drug dealing. Grin

StillCoughingandLaughing · 04/01/2020 15:54

Drugs. It’s always drugs.

MyDcAreMarvel · 04/01/2020 15:55

Thought it was common knowledge a lot of ice cream men sell weed etc.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 04/01/2020 15:56

Kids don’t actually care if there’s three feet of snow on the ground and some parents are happy for them to buy it to bring indoors. Personally I wouldn’t eat out of a van, but that’s just me.

lyralalala · 04/01/2020 15:56

If he genuinely only sells ice cream then I’d say drugs

The one here sells crisps, juice, chocolate and cigarettes

24hourshomeedderandcarer · 04/01/2020 15:58

unless its Christmas our van comes between 12-1pm and 6-7 pm every single day, parks a few doors up so i seen coming and goings

im a small village in the valleys of south wales and it gets dark 3 ish here in the winter and he still comes

he gets customers every time, hes a lovely old fella thats well over retirement age and im sure he only sells what he should
he even lets people pay him later if they havent got it

ive seen him fight through snow on the road to still come

FizzyIce · 04/01/2020 16:01

Haven’t heard our ice cream man for a while so either he’s run out of drugs or he genuinely just sells ice cream which no normal person wants on a miserable January day

Mlou32 · 04/01/2020 16:03

Our ice cream van sells ice cream, ice lollies, bars of chocolate, crisps, penny sweeties etc. And cigarettes, they used to be 20p each when I was about 10, inflation has probably pushed the price up nowadays. Perhaps drugs as well, I wouldn't be surprised 😂

Jojo19834 · 04/01/2020 16:03

It’s not just me that thinks ‘drug dealer’ when I hear the chimes of the ice cream man then! I find it a chilling sound

BobbinThreadbare123 · 04/01/2020 16:04

You never played GTA? Drugs.

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 04/01/2020 16:04

Drugs. And illegal cigarettes.

Dipsydoodle · 04/01/2020 16:05

Ours comes year round! I'm probably to blame as I'll get ice cream any time of year. When I was pregnant I got it every week when he came round so he's probably a bit disappointed I'm a lot more sporadic now.

PositiveVibez · 04/01/2020 16:05

Yep - another for drug dealing.

There used to be one in my old neighborhood.

Dipsydoodle · 04/01/2020 16:06

Actually the dog next door often goes in the queue for an ice cream too. So I'm in good company.

cricketmum84 · 04/01/2020 16:07

How odd! Ours was tootling around today and last Sunday. Me and DH were very wtf? Obv DD was straight out the door 😂

IHaveBrilloHair · 04/01/2020 16:09

Deffo drugs

Ohyesiam · 04/01/2020 16:10

Many lifetimes ago i had a friend who sold drugs and fried egg sandwiches from an ice cream van.
No ice cream though.
