Can I eat out of date Stilton?

I have some Stilton in the fridge that says use by dec 25. It’s been kept in a Tupperware container and smells no worse than your average stilton block.
Should I eat it?

I would and have many times. I’m still here 😊

I would, and have!

MrsBrentford · 01/01/2020 18:15

Yes Shock

CointreauVersial · 01/01/2020 18:15

As long as it's not gone mouldy.
Xmas Wink

Redkatagain · 01/01/2020 18:15

I have eaten Stilton much much older than a week. Really 😋

MsVestibule · 01/01/2020 18:15

Of course! I ate some unopened bacon today that was, ahem, very out of date but it was still pink and smelt fine. I'm still alive. So far.

Lunaballoon · 01/01/2020 18:16

If it looks and smells ok, it’ll be absolutely fine. I used up the last of our Xmas Stilton today in a broccoli and Stilton soup. Delish!

It only gets better with age

MrsBrentford · 01/01/2020 18:18

You can also Google 👍🏻

greenlavender · 01/01/2020 18:30

Yes

JayAlfredPrufrock · 01/01/2020 18:31

Or make a blue cheese dip

BloodyCats · 01/01/2020 18:31

I know I can google but I like asking people. Isn’t that what forums are for?

As long as you aren't pregnant, yes. Cooking with it is even safer.

Sargass0 · 01/01/2020 18:33

Considering it's probably been maturing for 30 years - I think it'll be ok.

Catsrus · 01/01/2020 18:33

it gets better with age!

thenightsky · 01/01/2020 18:33

You've reminded me I've got 3 Goo cheesecakes in the fridge that MUST be eaten tonight Grin They are dated 27th December.

AllergicToAMop · 01/01/2020 18:34

I keep most cheese past their date. Brie really needs at least 2 weeks on top

Nonnymum · 01/01/2020 18:34

I wouldn't because I am neurotic about out if date food since I had food poisoning who h was horrible. But I bet it is fine because by its nature cheese has mould in it and I think most people without my hang ups would eat it

Catsrus · 01/01/2020 18:34

gets better with age

Katinski · 01/01/2020 18:37

Yep! Well aged blue cheese = food of the GodsStar
