AIBU?

To hide these items unless she’s visiting....

I already know the answer to this really, because I either only display these items when my aunt visits, OR I look like the craziest narcissist this side of “I love myself town”.

My aunt is a beautiful and generous woman, and I love her. She buys me lots of thoughtful gifts at Christmas because she loves to do it, and I am grateful. She also loves to spend time making sure her gifts are personal, but MN, OH MN, this year has been spectacular....

I am 40 years old, I live with my DS who is 9. And this year my aunt has gone onto my Facebook, specifically my profile pictures and for Christmas I got the following....

  1. A full length canvas print of me posing in a dress.
  2. A mug with my face on.
  3. A travel mug with my face on.
  4. not one, BUT TWO cushions each of a close up OF MY FACE.
  5. A FULL CALENDER EACH MONTH WITH A DIFFERENT PICTURE OF MY OWN FACE!

Now, who, IN THEIR RIGHT MIND HAS THEIR OWN FACE ON CUSHIONS! IMAGINE WHAT VISITORS WOULD THINK!

It has made me laugh so much, but was not in any way a joke....ahhhhhh families eh?

Next year you must do the same thing to her! Smile

I'm doing that thing where you think you've stopped giggling... and then just start all over again. The thought of YOUR face as you kept seeing your face on everything might finish me off for good... I wonder if your batshit but lovely aunt was taking reaction shots as you opened everything?

That’s very funny!

Is your aunt a bit simple? I can think of no other reason to do this unless she’s a massive piss-taker!

Really want to see them.

I am so sad for you that she didn't have your image made-up into door art items or rugs.

I'm sure you have some people here who would happily contribute if you set up a Go Fund This Charming Eccentricity.

She obviously loves you and think you are very beautiful. Gives personalized gifts a whole new meaning though! Xmas Grin

@Disfordarkchocolate Are you joking? That would be an awful gift. I can't imagine anyone would actually like that.

Perhaps you could use the cushions for the dog/cat if you have one? Mugs do, unfortunately, get broken from time to time and thankfully, there are only 12 months to go until the calendar is out of date!

Hmm, but what to do with the full length print?! Confused

Haha brilliant, you do need to leave them out and watch from behind the door for visitors reactions 😂😂😂.

Cant decide if your aunt is totally bonkers or an evil genius.
I'm leaning toward evil genius tbh Grin

Nope @SendTheRemotePlease, they would enjoy the fun of it. Their dog would too. Life should never be too serious.

My friend does this for herself. We all laugh now because it takes absolute brass balls to get this kind of thing ordered for yourself.

She honestly has photo frames which are just pictures of herself. Ie one frame with 5 different pics but each one is just her with a different sunset background.

I went on holiday with her once and 80% of the pictures she printed to display were the ones with only her in Grin

Her bedroom is honestly like a shrine to herself, big framed pictures covering her dresser. She’s very lovely and not self centred at all so it is quite at odds with how she is.

I have a similar story. Following divorce I moved house. Started again, new job, house, schools for DC's in a new area.
Entertaining my first visitors ( new colleagues) I realised that my dad had hung up my rather large graduation photo!

You can imagine...new friends, near empty house (certainly not a picture or photo up anywhere) and just one old large photo of my success!

But not a duvet cover and matching curtains with your face on?

Tsk ... some people are just so thoughtless Wink

That is brilliant. I am stealing this for next year's secret santa. I will happily go well over budget!

LOL, a colleague got her partner a terrifying photo cushion of her own face as a joke and we were in hysterics about it when she had it delivered at work!

Yes, I might hide most of it (mugs probably OK, but the rest is a bit much). Either that or keep it in a secret room for people you want to scare Grin

Just pop the mug in the the cupboard with your other mugs and just use it when your aunt pops around.

Maybe put one of the cushions in your sons room, hide the other away in an airing cupboard.

Is the print of you nice, you could display it on a shelf.

The travel mug could conveniently be kept at work or in the car.

Maybe mention how the calendar was lovely but wouldn't it be ice to have one with pictures of your son and family, so if she gets another calender next year then it wont be just pictures of you.

On the up side, at least she got all the personalised gifts in one hit and aside from a calendar every year she can't really get them again.

OP, your post has had me in stitches. I would give aunt a cushion with her face on it, in return.
