To think she could have bought more than one pear!

Just interested what other people think as clearly this isn't a huge issue!

We (DH and I) went to stay with my parents recently. We only manage to get everyone (siblings and parents) together once or twice a year so it was kind of a special occasion, everyone had taken leave, holiday atmosphere etc.

My parents went out to the local naice deli to get something for lunch and when they came back my mum was raving about how lovely the pears they had in looked/smelled and how much she really fancied a pear. Obviously after hearing this I really fancied a pear too! She then took out the shopping and proceeded to eat her pear with gusto telling us all how delicious it was. AIBU to think it's strange to only buy one lovely pear when you've got your whole family round?!

For context we'd not just rocked up expecting to be provided for - we went out to the shops when we arrived and bought nice things as well as essentials like milk for everyone to use/enjoy. We cooked dinner, treated everyone to a meal out etc.

YABU but only because I want a pear now!

MarthasGinYard · 30/12/2019 00:36

Yabu

She'd been out to buy you all lunch and popped a pear in the bag. Eat it.

Would not have even registered with me

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 30/12/2019 00:36

I now want a pear, but I don’t even particularly like pears, so therefore YABVVVU

PearyNice · 30/12/2019 00:39

Haha sorry! It sounded like a very nice pear as well - juicy and sweet and not floury at all. The holy grail of pears you might say 😂

It's quite bad manners to rave about a food in front of people while eating it and not offer to share.

AvaSnowdrop · 30/12/2019 00:44

I would be more amazed that anyone managed to find a decent pear at this time of year. The shops are invariably full of those horrible hard ones.

TenPenceMix · 30/12/2019 00:45

She should have prepared a cutted up pear Grin

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 30/12/2019 00:46

I totally misread the title and came here thinking it was about pearls. Or, rather, one single pearl.

katewhinesalot · 30/12/2019 00:48

She could have. Is she usually selfish or is this a one off?

NewYearLeaf · 30/12/2019 00:49

I want a pear too now :(

notangelinajolie · 30/12/2019 00:55

I want a pear too. I have some downstairs but I'm too comfy in bed to go down and get one.

NeckPainChairSearch · 30/12/2019 01:06

proceeded to eat her pear with gusto

Did she deliberately eyeball you whilst eating it?

MarthasGinYard · 30/12/2019 01:10

Anyway who is Gusto?

Did she give him a bite?

PearyNice · 30/12/2019 01:15

TenPenceMix cutted up tastes nicer as well, missed a trick there!

Do you mean cut up ?

drinkygin · 30/12/2019 01:18

Starting a MN thread over a fucking pear. Jesus Christ. YABVVVU.

Muddyfieldsandprimroses · 30/12/2019 01:18

Or even sliced ?

PotterHead1985 · 30/12/2019 01:19

YABU but only coz I have just gotten into bed and now I have the urge to get up again to get a pear from the kitchen. GrinGrin

Muddyfieldsandprimroses · 30/12/2019 01:19

And what drinkygin said , with less swearing 😇

Bluerussian · 30/12/2019 01:21

I want a pear now too. All your fault op. All I have are some reasonable grapes, shrivelled up satsumas and apples.

MetroMe · 30/12/2019 01:22

Cutted up pear Grin it should be in classics

lyralalala · 30/12/2019 01:24

‘Cutted up pear’ is a phrase from an oft-quoted thread in classics

It’s used often by name changers to show longevity “Name changed, but naice ham, Pom Bears, Cutted up pear...”

GiveHerHellFromUs · 30/12/2019 01:28

Sometimes you go shopping and fancy a little something for yourself. If she'd have bought 12 you'd have all wondered why she assumed you wanted pears.
