Presents opened by 6am.... Dinner eaten and decorations RIPPED down and back in the loft. Roll on New Year.

OP posts:
AhoyMrBeaver · 25/12/2019 13:52

Sounds believable, taking the decorations down before you've had time to pass a single sprouty fart Xmas Hmm

drspouse · 25/12/2019 13:52

I'm looking forward to all the Christmassy things we have planned
More presents
playing with them all
Making a gingerbread house
Going skating and to the beach and to the theatre.
Eating all the leftovers
And a whole load of other things!

ilovesooty · 25/12/2019 13:52

People have different ways of doing things don't they?

Surely it isn't really the worst thread people have ever read?

We haven’t even started Christmas yet at ours. We begin in the evening.

TheFuzzyStar · 25/12/2019 13:55

I don’t get people who take decs down so early, I usually find it’s those who’ve had them up since end of November 🙄 Christmas only started yesterday!

Hi guys!
Just popping our heads in the door and letting you know OP is above board so please stop the festive troll hunting as we're just going to delete it
Xmas Smile

krustykittens · 25/12/2019 13:58

It's sad, Billben, because for the op, the season sounds to be all about the consumption of stuff.

Lovemusic33 · 25/12/2019 13:59

But the queens speech hasn’t even been in yet 😬

Surely Christmas lasts 3 days? Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day? I often take decorations down a couple days after Christmas, I don’t like it dragging in and like to get in with the new year but taking them down by mid day Christmas Day is a bit crazy.

drspouse · 25/12/2019 14:00

Surely Christmas lasts 3 days
12 I think you'll find.

Lindy2 · 25/12/2019 14:00

OP what fun your house sounds.

In our home we are still having a lot of Christmas enjoyment. Lots of family, food, drink and playing with presents.

I know which I prefer.

Inebriatededna · 25/12/2019 14:01

Christmas was like that in my family , presents away and christmas packed away by lunchtime , since i became an adult and found out how much fun other familys have Ive never spent xmas with my family again..

Elbeagle · 25/12/2019 14:01

We haven’t even had dinner yet.

VeryMerryChristmas · 25/12/2019 14:01

Opening presents, gobbling down your food, tearing down the decs by lunchtime and then soendongCjrystactively planning and looking forward to spending Boxing Day buying more shite. I can think of few things more joyless.

OP might be ‘above board’ but she is definitely being unreasonable and bloody miserable.

VeryMerryChristmas · 25/12/2019 14:01

That should gave said *actively

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 25/12/2019 14:03

Merry Christmas, Gloria! I can only think OP put tree, decorations etc up back in November or early December. Sad to reduce Christmas to presents, a quick lunch, then on to more consumerism. We'll be eating at about 4.30. For us Christmas is all about spending time with family and friends.

WorraLiberty · 25/12/2019 14:04

Poor kids

All that build up for very little

Lunch eaten decorations 'RIPPED' (not sure why the upper case?) down by 1pm?

I really wouldn't bother next year if I were you.

LoonyLunaLoo · 25/12/2019 14:04

Well that sounds like a shit Christmas for your poor kids 🤨

PineappleDanish · 25/12/2019 14:05

@GloriaMumsnet has missed a trick there.... surely she should be Gloria in excelsis Deo Mumsnet today?

Tonii1985 · 25/12/2019 14:07

Decs taken down on Christmas day?! 😂
I've heard it all now.

PorpentinaScamander · 25/12/2019 14:08

I haven't even started cooking the dinner yet Grin

FlyingNorth · 25/12/2019 14:10

I think by RIPPING the decks down at 1pm you're making it clear to them you're doing all this on suffrance. You also seem to be spending half of Christmas day planning a big shop, which seems arse about tit. Still, if it makes YOU happy ...

Chickychickydodah · 25/12/2019 14:11

I’m wit you oak , glad it’s over 🤦‍♀️

WellErrr · 25/12/2019 14:11

I remember watching a programme about OCD cleaners where the woman did this on Christmas Day. She bathed her kids in dettol once a week too, and I remember thinking how bloody sad for those kids.

It’s a pretty shitty way to behave on Christmas day.
