Presents opened by 6am.... Dinner eaten and decorations RIPPED down and back in the loft. Roll on New Year.

OP posts:

Ice cream sundae at 10.20 am? Very precise, very early and not sure Debenhams even sell them 🤔

Nimello · 25/12/2019 23:15

BTW, I would spontaneously combust if anyone were still in their nightwear at lunchtime. And I my household is otherwise completely chaotic. My one non-negotiable is getting dressed in the morning. Each to their own.

SunshineDays2019 · 25/12/2019 23:18

The Grinch has posted on mumsnet Xmas Hmm

CustomerCervixDepartment · 25/12/2019 23:18

OP moves through life as a box ticking exercise.
-school done
-work
-meet some guy
-marry guy
-breed
-schedule an ice cream in shopping centre

Onto the next societal expectation
-breed more?

I fucking hate xmas and didn’t participate in consuming frenzies/decor/hosting/being around people’s kids, it was great. Try not treating your life as a box ticking chore, it sounds appalling.

Oliversmumsarmy · 25/12/2019 23:26

I am organised.

Christmas is organised in December

Presents bought online from middish December, Christmas food shopping done on 24th.

Never been to Boxing Day Sales.

I don’t understand why you need to organise so much to go shopping

You get up and go out.

Change for parking?

Surely it is either Pay By Phone or card.

Do parking meters take coins anymore?

selmabear · 25/12/2019 23:28

Christmas isn't over in my eyes until new years day. Celebrating every day until then 😊 I do start taking decorations down from boxing day, not all decorations just one thing every day so it's not such a big job.

Nimello · 25/12/2019 23:28

Why can't I either watch this thread or see it on 'threads I'm on'? Is it because there's some kind of curse on threads that don't love Christmas and want it to go on for weeks?

spingly · 25/12/2019 23:31

@Nimello no I think it's a curse on people that just don't want it to even last the CHRISTMAS DAY, you know like the actual day...... odd!!

Nimello · 25/12/2019 23:32

That's me, then. Blush

Nimello · 25/12/2019 23:34

BTW, what exactly are you "Celebrating every day until then", @selmabear? I have been to two church services today (my choice - not everyone's cup of tea). I am now ready to move on and do other things until the next bout of "celebration" in 364 days' time...

spingly · 25/12/2019 23:35

@Nimello looks like it! Xmas WinkXmas WinkXmas WinkXmas Wink

Enjoy the rest of the festive season! It's still going on ......

spingly · 25/12/2019 23:36

At @Nimello its 365 as 2020 is a leap year, so even longer for not celebrating!

DonutMan · 25/12/2019 23:40

I'm kinda sad it's over as I didn't really have much time to get in the festive spirit. Worked every night up to Xmas eve and now it's all over. 🤷‍♀️

Nimello · 25/12/2019 23:46

Yessss!! I hadn't taken in the Leap Year. That has made my day, @spingly

MelAndShoe · 25/12/2019 23:51

Enjoy your 10.20 ice cream tomo Xmas Wink

Oliversmumsarmy · 25/12/2019 23:52

I find time to schedule in relaxation and fun just like anyone else

You can’t schedule fun. Fun is something that just happens you can’t plan for it.

No one I have ever known schedules time for fun.

DonutMan · 26/12/2019 00:12

No one I have ever known schedules time for fun.

You've seriously never known anyone who says 'ok, that night we're having a girls night.'

I schedule times with my mates to have fun. Buy some beers and food for the bbw etc.

DonutMan · 26/12/2019 00:14

'BBQ' ffs! 😂

(We don't get a plump lady over and all feed her).

zasknbg · 26/12/2019 00:21

YANBU to be thrilled that Christmas is done. I certainly am, it's a massive chore that is overhyped and has gone crazy.

However, sale shopping is the absolute pits IMO.

fligglepige · 26/12/2019 00:29

'Lots of mean comments here. Why shouldn't someone be glad that Christmas is over? '

Erm, because it isn't over? Even the biggest grinch counts Boxing Day as part of Christmas.

Oliversmumsarmy · 26/12/2019 01:03

DonutMan

But you have fun even when you don’t schedule it

The way the op was talking fun is only when it is scheduled as it might get in the way of doing something useful.

akittencalledjesus · 26/12/2019 02:26

I’m actually very traditional - that’s why it simply has to be “Sales on Boxing Day” - that’s just what people do!

Shopping is "tradition"?

HmmGrin

Shopping on Boxing Day is as traditional as a man having to spend at least two monthly salaries on an engagement ring.

DonutMan · 26/12/2019 04:04

But you have fun even when you don’t schedule it

The way the op was talking fun is only when it is scheduled as it might get in the way of doing something useful.

Oh ok, I see your point....

sparkly40 · 26/12/2019 04:08

Your poor kids ..

BustedDreams · 26/12/2019 04:26

@Oakenbeach do you ever live in the moment or do you always have an eye on what’s next? You seem unfulfilled.
