Presents opened by 6am.... Dinner eaten and decorations RIPPED down and back in the loft. Roll on New Year.

What will you do after the dreaded sales, when you get home again. If you buy clothes, and only try them on at home, and they don't fit, you can go right back to the sales to return them again, a double whammy of the sales ritual. !

Oakenbeach · 26/12/2019 07:12

No one I have ever known schedules time for fun

So, you don’t schedule holidays, massages, meet ups with friends? If you don’t schedule these things it never happens!

If you buy clothes, and only try them on at home, and they don't fit

There’s this place called a fitting room Hmm

OP moves through life as a box ticking exercise

But that’s life.... Ever heard of the bucket list?

OP posts:
Oakenbeach · 26/12/2019 07:20

You aren't helping the retail post christmas, do you think all those people want to be going into work tomorrow at ridiculous times so you can shop the sales?

If Next didn’t open at 6am then I wouldn’t be here... If you want to complain to anyone, complain to the shops! (I’m waiting in line in case you’re wondering to buy the clothes i tried on in the fitting room Hmm).... All in schedule for my festive latte (the kids will have ice-cream) at 10:20.

OP posts:
Oakenbeach · 26/12/2019 07:21

do you ever live in the moment or do you always have an eye on what’s next?

How can you live for the now if you don’t know what you’re doing next!

Oakenbeach · 26/12/2019 07:24

Change for parking?

You pay more using the apps (at least where I live).... but my organisation means I never get stung by things like not having enough change and having to pay more.

Enjoy your day OP! Hope you get all the bargains you were hoping for and your children enjoy their ice cream at 10.20am.
And we’ll enjoy round two of our Christmas celebrations with my dad and partner Smile. And round 3 tomorrow with some close friends!

QuietCrotchgoblins · 26/12/2019 07:45

'I don’t get how people seem to drift around and be so unfocused'

@Oakenbeach I suspect we are very different personalities, but rushing around ticking off boxes would suck the joy out of life for me. Life is about noticing the robin hopping around the garden, snuggling up with my children, soaking up the sensual aspect of Christmas lights and the scent of pine needles from the tree. It's a form of mindfullness, living in the moment.

We are all different, but please don't miss the magic of today whilst planning for tomorrow.

I’m waiting in line in case you’re wondering to buy the clothes i tried on in the fitting room.

Every Next I've been into closes the changing rooms during the sale. Aren't you lucky that yours doesn't? 🤔🤔

Oakenbeach · 26/12/2019 08:32

Every Next I've been into closes the changing rooms during the sale.

That policy changed last year in a number stores .... two many returns apparently, depends on their size. That’s why I research and plan before I go!

OP posts:
Oakenbeach · 26/12/2019 08:32

too many not two many! 8 mins ahead of schedule here Smile

That’s why I research and plan before I go!

Where do you find this information out? Specifics, please.

And if your local one hasn't changed that policy then it's irrelevant unless you're also planning to travel a distance.

PrettyPurpleFeather · 26/12/2019 08:39

@Oakenbeach Can’t stand dragging things out.... Does no one else like being efficient?

You might regret makng that comment on your deathbed! Then again, you might not and hope to make a speedy exit!

I've read your thread & you don't sound like a fun person to be with.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 26/12/2019 08:42

Tho one year I threw my tree and all the decorations into a skip outside late xmas eve as I'd decided to replace next year. The wind whipped up and blew baubles into all the neighbours gardens. I think they thought I'd had some form of hysterical breakdown...

Even leaving aside the fact that you did use some poor sod's skip for your tree, it's does sound like a breakdown of some sort.

madcatladyforever · 26/12/2019 08:51

I have never scheduled time for fun in my whole life yet I manage to have an exciting and varied social life and there is always something going on. Some of it "gasp" a last minute decision.
I can't understand why you can't leave up the decorations until 12th night for the kids and then rip them down - 1pm on Christmas day is awful.
I had a friend who did this at xmas and her son no longer speaks to her, hasn't done for years. He says she is cold and souless.

AhoyMrBeaver · 26/12/2019 08:55

Festive period over, kids - get your Next sale faces on. Summer 2016's reasonably priced t-shirts now being sold at a lower price aren't going to buy themselves. Move, move, move!

I'd love to know how you managed to persuade children who are old enough to not be a hindrance in your scenario to actually go with you. Why would they want to go out before dawn to watch you buy clothes? Xmas Confused

BB8sAntenna · 26/12/2019 08:55

If that’s your Christmas thing then I don’t understand why people are having a go at you? 🤨
We have a quiet Christmas Day and a big Boxing Day gathering, on the 27th the trees and lights come down and get packed away and that’s that for another year.

PineappleDanish · 26/12/2019 09:02

t I have thrown out as much Xmas food as I can though

Throwing out food which is perfectly good to eat should be a crime.

PeriComoToes · 26/12/2019 09:04

Why so gloaty though?
Please do tell what's on your Boxing Day sales shopping list. Obviously you have a very precise one.

Can't imagine 'ripping' down the decorations straight after dinner. Really odd behaviour. Awful for your kids.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 26/12/2019 09:09

But that’s life.... Ever heard of the bucket list?

You have a very sad bucket list if "go to the Next Sale" is on it.

Do you actually know what a bucket list is?

Ginfordinner · 26/12/2019 09:11

I don't believe this. No-one is this robotic, surely.

That said, if it is true I have some questions for the OP.
Do you never do anything spontaneously, or is everything planned right down to the last detail?

Do you not worry that your controlling lifestyle is being perceived by others as a little odd or a way of covering up or fighting something in your life that you can't control?

Do you have a DP or DH?

chomalungma · 26/12/2019 09:17

Planning things is good

But sometimes, you need to be spontaneous.

Have you seen "Dead Poet's Society"?

I have an idea what's going to happen next year, Some things are scheduled. But there is space for lots of unplanned things to happen.

Carpe Diem and all.

ooooohbetty · 26/12/2019 09:25

Yes OP I'll bet your children love shopping. I'll also bet they can't wait to get back to school so they can relax.
