No explanation, you know what I mean.

Just received the last of my xmas present shopping - not hermes but not sure who. Ordered yesterday, arrived today Xmas Grin

HoHoHoik · 23/12/2019 14:09

Our local Hermes driver is great. He's driven past me in the street before and pulled over to say he has a parcel for me, do I want it now or should he call by with it later and then arranges a time. Probably helps that I went to school with him Grin

MidnightCircus · 23/12/2019 14:10

I dread seeing Hermes as the delivery company. Still, my local one will at least now throw it into the porch (with a blank failed delivery ticket/receipt but does have a tracking number). Improvement over the last one which would point blank lie about trying to deliver and again, leave a blank card. With no tracking number. Helpful

MrsJ28903 · 23/12/2019 14:11

My local Hermes delivery drivers are really good.

Gertie75 · 23/12/2019 14:12

They're awful, they sign for the packages themselves so if anything goes missing you have no proof it was ever delivered.

PlasticPatty · 23/12/2019 14:12

They were great for me twice last week.
Yodel, on the other hand, were three and a half days delivering one parcel. That is, I had to wait in for them from Tuesday to Friday morning.

PonderTweek · 23/12/2019 14:13

I hate Hermes so much. I wish companies made it obvious which courier they use before placing an order. I would never knowingly use Hermes. They're shite.

Having said that, our locally Hermes delivery guy is so nice and friendly. I feel bad for him because I bet he gets so much crap from customers.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 23/12/2019 14:14

My regular Hermes driver is brilliant, I despair when it's not him because the other are shit.

Yodel are worse though.

viccat · 23/12/2019 14:14

Depends entirely on where you live as they are all self-employed contractors and cover quite a small area. My current one is pretty good. The delivery slots are always really late in the day which is handy as people are more likely to be in. Everything recently has arrived on time.

I prefer DPD though as you get an hour's slot and it's tracked all along so you can see exactly when it's arriving.

CoffeeCoinnesseur · 23/12/2019 14:15

YANBU.

They are so so shit.

I actively avoid purchasing from companies that use Hermes or Yodel. If they don't state which couriers they use I phone up and ask.

ShirleyPhallus · 23/12/2019 14:16

They were absolute fucking snobs when I went to change an unwanted present

The courier is awful too

ilovesooty · 23/12/2019 14:16

My local one is very good.

terriblyangryattimes · 23/12/2019 14:16

Genuinely have never had problems with Hermes here or where I lived before. The lovely driver calls me if I'm not in and lets me know where the parcel is (hidden, with a neighbour etc)

MidnightCircus · 23/12/2019 14:16

I third Yodel being horrible. Thankfully don't see them too often

lavenderlemonade · 23/12/2019 14:16

If I knew Hermes were the company used before ordering I wouldn't order - I find Dpd, yodel and my postie so much better

ilovesooty · 23/12/2019 14:17

Having said that the one who delivers to my sister is useless.

FuzzyPuffling · 23/12/2019 14:17

My local Hermes delivery man is brilliant. I'm delighted when a company uses Hermes.

AutumnGlitterBall · 23/12/2019 14:22

Mine is great. She’s on the local fb page so we know if she’s having issues. Her car broke down recently and she let people come to her house if they didn’t want to wait til the next day for their parcel.

minniemoll · 23/12/2019 14:27

I send a lot of parcels via Hermes and haven't had any problems.

And my local courier is just lovely, so friendly and helpful.

nornironrock · 23/12/2019 14:30

As another has already said, you can call and ask which they use.

I also do not give any business to companies that use sub-standard couriers.

Newcatmum · 23/12/2019 14:30

The are the worst. Its not the drivers I have a problem with but the depot/customer service. Can't even call it customer service as it's impossible to speak to a person except over live chat which is one of the most infuriating live chat services I've ever used. I pay extra to get delivered by DPD where possible.

recklessruby · 23/12/2019 18:01

Our usual hermes delivery lady is great but we had a right moaner yesterday who blocked a side street unnecessarily with his badly parked car and proceeded to tell me he was leaving my parcel with my (horrible) neighbour as I was not in.
I answered the door literally 2 seconds after he knocked.
I told him I was clearly in, was not a ghost and didnt pay to have important things delivered to neighbours.
So he practically chucked it at me and stormed off.
Still don't know what that was about but I hope it s the usual lovely friendly lady next time!

showmewhatyougot · 23/12/2019 18:16

Worst company ever, no idea why company's still use them. The last 3 packages I've had delivered with them, all didn't make it.

Watchdog need to get involved, it's ridiculous.

FREEM · 23/12/2019 18:22

awful. signed for by themselves . card through letterbox nothing written on.
found a phone number online.
cost a fortune to call then just gave generic info and cut me off
dreadful

Rainbunny · 23/12/2019 18:24

I hadn't experienced some of the horror stories I've read about with Hermes... until this month! OMG Hermes is unbelievably awful!

I ordered dogfood about 3 weeks ago (can't get it locally for my dog's medical condition), it usually takes 3 business days at most to arrive (so should have normally arrived by Dec 12 at the latest). It is still not here! All kinds of BS updates on the Hermes tracking site, at one point last week the tracking updated to "delivered to secure location" (this apparently occurred while we were all at home waiting for it!) I had to call the petfood company (4 days in a row as they tried to contact Hermes/get information about the mysterious "secure location' - we never discovered it, or get redelivery arranged asap). Then suddenly it became "unfortunately delayed" on the tracking site but then this morning "will be delivered today!' An hour ago the tracking was updated to "sorry, delayed again, we'll get it moving in the next 24 hrs' whatever that means!

I also have another item that I paid extra to have delivered last Saturday - didn't happen and yep it's Hermes again. I also got the update that they would deliver this today - until an hour ago when the same 'delayed' message appeared.

I do have sympathy for the Hermes drivers, they must be the lowest paid delivery drivers given the terrible service. Thankfully the petfood company has resent an emergency shipment of the food via DPD (thank the lord) which will arrive tomorrow. God knows when the Hermes parcels will arrive...
