We were just talking about Xmas presents with DD 7 and he says in front of of daughter ‘I don’t think we should get loads of stocking filers this year’ - luckily I don’t think she picked up on it but I was mouthing shut up to him & now he’s had a massive tantrum because I followed him out it the room to ask why he was talking about stocking fillers in front of our 7year old (luckily she didn’t pick up on it but normally nothing gets past her)

WTF- aibu to think he’s a dick? Talk about nearly ruining Xmas 🙄 It’s not even like kids believe in Santa for that long anyway!!

He's a colossal dick. Saying in front of his child that he wants to cut down on presents. Way to ruin Christmas for a little girl, such a relief that she didn't hear.

mokapot · 24/11/2019 14:55

Why were you talking about presents in the first place in front of her?

Here, have 3

Rainbowtheunicorn · 24/11/2019 14:57

Ltb.

You can never have too much plastic tat.

simplekindoflife · 24/11/2019 14:58

Oh how annoying! Mistakes happen but he should've immediately just held his hands up and admitted he was in the wrong.

PurpleDaisies · 24/11/2019 14:59

Really? I can’t believe actual grown ups get annoyed about stuff like this.

prawnsword · 24/11/2019 15:01

Your 7 year old still tantrums ?

prawnsword · 24/11/2019 15:02

Oh HE had the tantrum !

Wildorchidz · 24/11/2019 15:03

Your 7 year old still tantrums ?

No. She’s lucky enough to have a dp who tantrums.

Ohyesiam · 24/11/2019 15:03

Ha ha, good one.

Southdownsbelle · 24/11/2019 15:06

We were talking about presents because she was writing her Xmas list & telling us what she wanted.

Why I am I getting biscuits?! I’m really cross about it - kids only believe in Santa for a short amount of time- i’d rather he didn’t ruin it for her at age 7 🙄

I don't understand why you're getting biscuits either. If your kid believes in Santa he nearly ruined it for her then threw s tantrum after.

Seems like he's an arse to me.

Dandelion753 · 24/11/2019 15:15

Sometimes kids think if they were to let on that they know the flying fat man stuff is all BS the Christmas present supply will get cut back.

raspberryk · 24/11/2019 15:17

I think YAB a bit U and massively overreacting. I don't know anyone who's kids think that ALL presents come from Santa. We don't even do a Santa gift at our house it all comes from the person who actually gave it.

Bluetrews25 · 24/11/2019 15:20

Christmas will only be ruined if mum and dad fall out.

Aridane · 24/11/2019 15:24

Eh?

some strange people around this weekend.

ChickenyChick · 24/11/2019 15:27

why did youth "shut up" and then angrily following him out of the room, that's quite aggressive, why get angry/aggressive about small stuff?! Bit weird IMO

My 7 year old would have picked up on this (as she did on everything) but would have chosen to ignore it as she was a shrewd cookie who didn’t want to miss out on any presents.
