DD didn’t have a lot of hair for a long time. But once it started growing properly she ended up with tight corkscrew curls and has one crazy hairdo. Its fabulous but I have literally no idea where she’s got it from 😂

My eldest is all legs, she has really long legs and I have no idea where from. Me and DH are short arses with little legs.

Legomadx2 · 25/10/2019 15:07

One of ours is brilliant at art, seriously good.

DH and I completely useless at it.

Ginfordinner · 25/10/2019 15:09

DD is brilliant at art as well. Neither DH or I can draw for toffee.

GoBackToPartyCity · 25/10/2019 15:10

That he has the whitest of white hair. It fascinates me! No idea where it came from.

Beesandcheese · 25/10/2019 15:15

My eldestination peeled like a snake (toes up really dry skin like a band) in the first week after birth. I didn't know that isn't unheard of.
My middle one was born in a doorway Grin
My youngest had and still has huge clown feet that everyone comments on.

Loopytiles · 25/10/2019 15:19

When I was pregnant with DC1 I imagined how DC1 would look - a lot like me (Grin). found an illustrated postcard with a baby looking v similar. DC1 arrived and looked nothing like it.

Had secondary fertility problems and, v luckily, had DC2, who looks the image in my head and postcard!

ThePolishWombat · 25/10/2019 15:23

How much DD1 is starting to look like MIL as she gets older!! I look at pictures of MIL in her younger days and all I see is my DD’s face!
DS’s capacity for remembering minute details always surprises me. He’s only 3, and yet he can remember the most obscure things from ages ago!
DD2 is only 5 weeks old, but has surprised me in that she appears to be the only newborn on this planet that doesn’t cluster feed or comfort feed Hmm

Winterdaysarehere · 25/10/2019 15:26

That they grew up!! Hard to believe I have adult dc!! Don't feel like I can possibly have a dc who is 30!!
All the worrying stays the same - just to let you all know!!

Ahundredpercentthatbitch · 25/10/2019 15:26

That she looks nothing like me.

PookieDo · 25/10/2019 15:27

How talented my DD1 is at art

Also my DD2 is naturally amazing with children, she almost has an aura about her they love

Merryoldgoat · 25/10/2019 15:33

DS1 - how gorgeous he is (objectively) - my DH and I are ‘fine’ to look at but DS1 is exceptionally good looking. I was regularly stopped and told how stunning he was by strangers. When colleagues see pictures you see the surprise followed by ‘is he more like your husband?’ 🤣

DS2 - his looks because he’s so different from everyone in the family - Its like Morticia and the blond baby when we’re together.

I’m mixed ethnicity, olive skin, dark hair etc. DS2 is bright blond, very fair skin with blue eyes. Genes are a funny thing.

OhYum · 25/10/2019 15:34

My 5 year old looks the spit of me apart from her eyes, she has her dads beautiful big brown eyes, it really surprised me.

SlackerMum1 · 25/10/2019 15:38

It’s so odd. In all other respects DDs hair is exactly like mine - colour, texture... just these crazy curls when I can barely muster a wave! She also had black eyes when she was born - indistinguishable between iris and pupils. That’s settled into a dark brown like her dad but was a bit disconcerting...

SlackerMum1 · 25/10/2019 15:39

That and she’s had a proper dirty laugh since the days she started laughing... hilarious but very weird coming out of a little girl!

How long his legs are
How ripped his muscles are (he's 14)
How brilliant he is at non verbal reasoning skills and visualising how things are out together and work

Lifeisabeach09 · 25/10/2019 15:44

Her ideas and creativity. Her sense of humour and spunkiness. These surprise me.
How like me she is in terms of looks, gestures, interests! She really is mini-me when I was her age. It's uncanny sometimes.

jennymanara · 25/10/2019 15:48

How one of our children looks totally white with slightly reddish hair and freckles.

Whattodoabout · 25/10/2019 15:54

DC2 is a red head despite her Dad and I having dark brown hair. She has our olive complexions and her Dad’s dark brown eyes so it really sets her apart from the rest. She’s absolutely beautiful. It’s not bright red hair, it’s auburn I guess. Absolutely delightful.

BendingSpoons · 25/10/2019 15:58

He is ginger. Every time I go anywhere people comment on his hair. DH and I both have mid brown hair. I have Scottish grandparents, one whom was a redhead, but I still hadn't imagined it.

JustDanceAddict · 25/10/2019 16:05

That they’re brainiacs and talented.
So much more academic than me or dh. We are both graduates but not with great degrees or academic qualifications generally. I am extremely average, dh slightly more so.
I have zero talent for most things and even the thing I’m best at isn’t that good (have used it a bit in my career but not to the extent those who are really good at it do).
I am being vague but they both have talents dh and I def do not possess!!!

OneOfTheGrundys · 25/10/2019 16:12

DS1 is super confident, into sports, very mainstream culture etc. DH and I are quite quiet, definitely not sporty-don’t know where he gets it from. DS2 is pretty weird, like the rest of the family 😂.

TheFairyCaravan · 25/10/2019 16:21

The first thing I said when I saw DS1 was "he's the image of my dad." Now he's an adult it's like having a younger version of my dad in the room. His tone is the same, he calls out my name in the same way (to annoy me), his likes and dislikes are similar. It's really weird because he's spent hardly anytime with my dad.

DS2 has blond hair and blue eyes. Both me and DH have dark hair and dark eyes. He's a spitting image of DH & DFIL other than that

MonstranceClock · 25/10/2019 16:27

My daughter is ginger. I’m half black, half Chinese... she’s definitely mine Grin

flirtygirl · 25/10/2019 16:33

That they are both stunning. Always being stoped and complimented. My oldest has big wide eyes with long lashes, as a baby and a toddler, I was constantly stopped about her eyes. Still big but the effect when little Shock

Also both have natural great voices, knew my eldest could sing and is a great artist but was floored when the youngest started singing. At 6 sounded like Meghan Trainor, a lovely bluesy soulful voice, very weird coming from a little girl.

FilamentBabe · 25/10/2019 16:39

How different they all are in personality. They say you never get two the same and its so true. All 3 of mine are just complete opposites from each other.
