DD didn’t have a lot of hair for a long time. But once it started growing properly she ended up with tight corkscrew curls and has one crazy hairdo. Its fabulous but I have literally no idea where she’s got it from 😂

My eldest DD hardly had any hair until she was 2.5yrs. Even after that it grew weirdly so you couldn’t do much with it. She looked ridiculous. Now, at the age of 12 she has the healthiest, thickest and shiniest auburn hair.

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 25/10/2019 19:31

That he was a she! All threw my pregnancy I was convinced I was having a boy I thought it was some sixth sense mothers intuition and I was definitely having a boy, when DD was presented to me bum first minus a cock and balls I nearly fell off the operating table 😂

Elbowedout · 25/10/2019 19:36

That my DD turned out to be a professional dancer. When I took her along to ballet class when she was a toddler I had no expectation that it was going to be the love of her life.

Poetryinaction · 25/10/2019 19:38

How amazing dc1 was.
How hard work dc2 was.
How much harder it gets as they get older.
How much they cost.

TheresWaldo · 25/10/2019 19:41

Mine is really musical, plays guitar and piano, a lot of it self-taught. And she goes for all the school plays and talent evenings and will sing and play guitar in front of a huge audience without turning a hair. I hate drawing attention to myself and dh is a bit of an introvert so I have no idea where that comes from. Also, when MIL died, her funeral service booklet had a pic of her when much, much younger and dd is the spit of her.

Legomadx2 · 25/10/2019 19:41

I think what's really interesting is when you have two of the same sex.

Because then you see how they REALLY are born with their own characters - my two boys are SO different (apart from both being beautiful, clever and funny, obvs).

I am SO happy to have two of the same sex as it gives you SUCH a different perspective. When we just had one boy I thought ok, if DH and I were to make a boy, this is what we would make. Then DS2 came out TOTALLY different and it was incredible how different he was. Seeing the differences has made me so respect all of my children's personalities. It's mad and I love it.

EssentialHummus · 25/10/2019 19:46

Her memory. She’s just over two and can finish the sentence in a few of her favourite (long) books, all the way through. Also talks about the tree we had up last Christmas etc. Just amazing.

BanginChoons · 25/10/2019 19:49

I thought he was a girl for 13 years but it turns out he's a boy. He's awesome. I'm so proud of him every day for being true to himself.

FizzFizzPlinkPlink · 25/10/2019 19:53

That they're both just so nice and generally very easy to live with. You hear so many horror stories about teens with vile tempers who slam doors and basically make everyone else's life a misery with their selfish behaviour. Ours never behave like that and are a pleasure to be around, they're chatty, polite, funny and thoughtful and just really nice people. Our eldest paid me a huge compliment recently when she mentioned that she intends raising her children in exactly the same way she has been raised. I was really touched and it was so nice to hear because being a parent doesn't come with a guide book so I think we have must have actually done a good job.

Paggelpops · 25/10/2019 20:05

Two left handed dc's when me and dh are right handed

babybythesea · 25/10/2019 20:06

Elbowedout - me too.
I am not a dancer. Not even close. When DD asked, aged 3, if she could do ballet, I laughed. I didn't think she knew what it even was. I have no idea how she knew. She pestered and pestered. I gave in and took her to classes.
Seven years later, she does 5 dance classes a week, has had distinction in every exam she's taken in the last three years, and dances in shows and competitions. Yesterday she was talking excitedly about when she'll be allowed to go on pointe. It's not for another few years yet but when I asked her if she really wanted to do that (just looks painful to me), and if she thought she'd even still be dancing then, she looked at me like I was ridiculous in the extreme.
I like football. My dreams of bringing up the next star of the England women's team have died a slow and painful death.

Bluewavescrashing · 25/10/2019 20:07

Arguing with my DD is like arguing with myself. She's the complete twin of me and that's what makes her so frustrating and gorgeous!

ChrisPrattsFace · 25/10/2019 20:07

I’m only a couple of months in... but my boy has my tiny little ball chin.
DH has a very strong square jaw / chin and features, even is his baby pictures. I had really hoped any boy of ours would get that, and not my chubby round potato head!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/10/2019 20:13

Oi, you people with unexpected redheads, you've got one of mine I think! Despite my very best efforts and shitloads of ginger genes I could only produce brunettes.

DodgeRainClouds · 25/10/2019 20:29

How similar they look to so many people in both families. I convince myself that one of mine looks like someone, then I’ll see a young pic of someone else in family and it blows my mind how much they look like them. Then I’ll see another pic of someone else and they look like them too. Yet these are people from both families.

Mummyoflittledragon · 25/10/2019 20:32

That she came out with a full head of hair and it isn’t the colour I imagined at all. In fact she’s nothing like I imagined. Not very much like me. How strong and how much energy she has. I think that’s why she survived in me - I have chronic fatigue so very little energy.

Toorahtoorahaye · 25/10/2019 20:34

They’re not as into sport as I thought/hoped they’d be. It’s weird as me and their dad have always been sporty and played competitive sports. Still do.

PlasticPatty · 25/10/2019 20:35

Blue eyes. And her hair, which began black, went blonde, now red.

Shiloh221 · 25/10/2019 20:35

How my dd used to roll her tongue as a young baby (7/8 months) and Made a funny rrrrrrrr sound that adults only do!
How her eyes were a beautiful bright blue until she was 2 like her fathers and I was sure they would stay that colour but then turned green like mine when she was 2.5! I didn't realise it could be that late !

CathyorClaire · 25/10/2019 20:37

Ds being 6ft 3. Shouldn't really surprise me as there's height on both sides of the family but it does. He's also a Grade 8 pianist. Neither of us can play a note so I'm guessing his DGF's genes are running wild on both counts Grin

MRex · 25/10/2019 20:38

Mine looks exactly like my dad, but beautiful. I'm constantly amazed at how his personality has seemed the same since he was in the womb. The earliest of his cohort to laugh, he still amazes is with how quickly and easily he breaks into fits of giggles, it's infectious.

Shiloh221 · 25/10/2019 20:38

Plus how tone deaf she is when she sings ! 🙉🙈 beautiful child I get comments she looks like a Doll but my god she cannot sing 🤣🤣

janj2301 · 25/10/2019 20:39

Mine are both musical and arty. Hubby nor I are at all

managedmis · 25/10/2019 20:40

How extroverted DS is

Absolutely astounding

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 25/10/2019 20:41

That my daughter has my mum's head on my mother in law's body. Genes throw up weird combinations.

That my son is so laid back I'm surprised he can stand up straight. The rest of us, both sides, are worriers, excitables and other not laid back types.
