To have a love hate relationship with CBeebies??

It's not really a question and I'm sorry if this topic has already been done but I really need a rant with some other parents!

What programmes make you want to scratch your eyes out/confuse you/ drive you mad??? Shock

For me:

  1. Topsy and Tim... what's with the weird Stepford wife mum and the super annoying dad...
  2. Mollie and Mac... is that the name?! It's bloody annoying "I have an idea..." gahhhh shut up. Also why do the dad and brother look the same bloody age??
  3. "It's a Bing thing..." NEED I SAY MORE????

The love part of the relationship is that obviously I rely on it heavily as a parent to stop tantrum/meltdown (have a cup of tea...)

I'm with you on the "I've had an idea". Very grating. I don't mind Topsy and Tim and their smug mum, but Flop from Bing really irritates me. Patronising little shit.

I have also developed a huge crush on Andy when he's on his dinosaur adventures. His hair looks so lovely and soft sigh

Gingernut83 · 12/10/2019 21:06

This is going to sound really bitchy I’m sure but for some reason Katy the CBeebies presenter really gets on my nerves- no idea why I’m sure she’s a good person I just can’t stand her!

Oh and Bing - he burned his bridges with me on the episode “stepping in dog poo - it’s a Bing thing!” Is it ? Is it really? Grrr

Caramelblonde70 · 12/10/2019 21:17

I bloody love Bing 😂 saw the live show with my son last year. Topsy and Tim's Mum and Dad dont sleep together, I'm pretty sure about that 😂 I think Abney and Teal is weird; it's a bit 1970s. We're on to citv now - mr bean and mr magoo 🙈

PandaMa · 12/10/2019 21:27

I agree. Topsy and Time creep me out. Molly and Mac however I must forgive because as soon as my DS hears the theme he turns to me with the biggest smile on his face and waits for me to join in and sing it (how can you not? It's catchy as feck!)

Let's not talk about Bing. My husband has actually sent me a video while at work detailing how irritating and whingy Bing is despite having murdered a butterfly and thieving lollies from the shop. Blush

Love a bit of Andy and his prehistoric (or safari) adventures though! Grin

DarlingBuds19 · 12/10/2019 21:29

Agree totally.

Topsy seems like a spoilt, domineering little bossy boots.
]M&m/Bridgetown/whatever is both boring and annoying (that whistle thing wtf), that's a dad and son?!!
Bing is so WHINEY.

Also can't stand Justin Fletcher in anything but something special (if that's what it's called) - gigglebiz only slightly trumps Justin's house for things if pay bit to gave to see.

Caty is irritating - but it now looks like she's been replaced by grace who seems moderately less irritating.

Fancying Andy Day is what happens when you're deprived of normal TV and watch cbeebies and kids YouTube vids til you're sick to the teeth.Does anyone else think he and the cute girl together in Safari adventures always look on the verge of becoming a crap porno or I'd it just my filthy and slightly demented mind?

At least there's tee and mo, go jetters (I do enjoy the funky facts), Peter rabbit (bit frantic though, would Beatrix potter really have wanted something so noisy and jazzy?), Hey duggee (which also makes me want to give the producers some valium or dope or something), the science-y "do you know" programme with the just bearably upbeat, chirpy female presenter etc.

DarlingBuds19 · 12/10/2019 21:30

"things i'd pay not to see

DarlingBuds19 · 12/10/2019 21:30

Katie Morag is also both boring and annoying.

I could go on all day.

Whyismycatanasshat · 12/10/2019 21:31

“What’s on your plate!” Does my head in.

schafernaker · 12/10/2019 21:33

Most of the CBeebies shows annoy the hell out of me... apart from Duggee ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

WE LOVE DUGGEE ❤️

Alloftheboys · 12/10/2019 21:33

OH had a crush on Maddie on Do you know. The boys are older so we’ve moved onto Cartoon Network now.

DarlingBuds19 · 12/10/2019 21:33

I actually ended up googling bing to try to figure out wtf the set up is with the comparatively tiny insect things 'parenting' the comparatively giant toddler animals and the theories were so weird I gave up.

Muumee · 12/10/2019 21:35

My DH cannot, ever, come and tell me something he's thought up without waltzing into the room yelling 'I've had an idea, he's had an ideaaaaa, it's just popped into my head I've had an ideaaaa!' Angry

thenightfury · 12/10/2019 21:35

I really like molly and mac 🤣
I can't stand topsy and Tim, or wooly and tig, Katie Morag is boring as hell but I like the theme tune!
DS loves what's on your plate🙄

Muumee · 12/10/2019 21:37

Also 'We love lunchtime coz it's lunchtime' what the fuck? Who writes this shit? Are they paid?!

thenightfury · 12/10/2019 21:37

Also every time I call DH he answers 'hello hello, how are you' from something special, boils my piss honestly

Whatstodo2019 · 12/10/2019 21:37

We've been watching Netflix for the last few months so it's been episode after episode of the same three kids shows. We went back to CBeebies this week and it's actually really lifted my mood seeing a variety of shows and the presenters talking. I can't believe teletubbies is still on though, that's the one programme that really annoys me.

DarlingBuds19 · 12/10/2019 21:38

OH had a crush on Maddie on Do you know

I could fully understand that, I could almost gave a girl.ceush on her, but that positions been filled by Ferbe in 'my per and me'.

In spite of the sheer utter cringe of the credits when she and her co presenter bop around with kids (and without rhythm) to the tuneless, crap theme tune.

DarlingBuds19 · 12/10/2019 21:39

We love lunchtime coz it's lunchtime'

Is it not "munch time".

PandaMa · 12/10/2019 21:39

Also 'We love lunchtime coz it's lunchtime' what the fuck? Who writes this shit? Are they paid?!

I may be wrong... or listened too much... but isn't it we love lunchtime cos it's munch time? Blush

DarlingBuds19 · 12/10/2019 21:39
  • Ferne not Ferbe Why is Ferbe even in my autocorrect.
CharityConundrum · 12/10/2019 21:41

If you want to feel old (and who doesn't on Mumsnet in a Saturday night?!) The sun baby from Teletubbies had her own baby now.... Shock

DarlingBuds19 · 12/10/2019 21:43

The sun baby from Teletubbies had her own baby now.... shock

Gtfo! Shock

How do you even know that?

shinyblackdog · 12/10/2019 21:43

Hate Peppy flipping Nana and all her irritating housemates. She can tiddle toddle off.

Love the bedtime story and the little song at the end.

Don't get me started on the Night Garden. Why is it so so long?

DarlingBuds19 · 12/10/2019 21:44

Could her baby be as cute or cuter than her - doesn't seem possible.

PandaMa · 12/10/2019 21:46

Peppi Nana and pals along with In the Night Garden have mystical powers that compel children to be quiet. I am forever greatful to their creators Grin
