To have a love hate relationship with CBeebies??

It's not really a question and I'm sorry if this topic has already been done but I really need a rant with some other parents!

What programmes make you want to scratch your eyes out/confuse you/ drive you mad??? Shock

For me:

  1. Topsy and Tim... what's with the weird Stepford wife mum and the super annoying dad...
  2. Mollie and Mac... is that the name?! It's bloody annoying "I have an idea..." gahhhh shut up. Also why do the dad and brother look the same bloody age??
  3. "It's a Bing thing..." NEED I SAY MORE????

The love part of the relationship is that obviously I rely on it heavily as a parent to stop tantrum/meltdown (have a cup of tea...)

Hate Peppy flipping Nana and all her irritating housemates. She can tiddle toddle off.

*Love the bedtime story and the little song at the end.

Don't get me started on the Night Garden. Why is it so so long?*

How did I forget about those two?

Night garden and it's demented and dementing "music" .. and general weirdness. Moon and me is also really fkg boring .. and not just to.nw, it never holds my Lo's attention and no wonder.

DarlingBuds19 · 12/10/2019 21:49

The great part about the stories for me is the utter randomness of the readers ... It goes from barely recognisable TV actors, sportspeople etc to Hollywood A listers night to night.

DarlingBuds19 · 12/10/2019 21:50

And then Dolly Parton randomly pops up every now and then too (I know she has a book/reading charity for kids though).

grandmasterstitch · 12/10/2019 21:53

I hate Bing and Tee and Mo (which DS thinks is absolutely hilarious) Teacup Travels or whatever it's called is just weird. "The path ran out!" Not that it matters, she can just jump the 60 foot wide canyon no sweat

Molly and Mac doesn't bother me and we love Katie Morag! See also the Numberblock and Alphablocks

And I have the biggest crush on Ben Blush

JustHereWithPopcorn · 12/10/2019 21:53

Can't stand Mr Tumble. Every time I see him he makes me question my life choices.

Pinkpanther473 · 12/10/2019 21:54

Yes Bing!! And even more Flop!! Used to think it was just my grumpiness that reacted to Flops unflagging patience and empathy towards the emotionally unstable toddler giant rabbit that is Bing, and I should just generally try to be nicer... until I saw the episode where flop pads off to pick up some random dog’s poo up from the grass, whisking out a plastic bag and using it as an instructional moment for Bing about proper care of dogs and can he find a bin with a picture of a dog on it.
I mean who does that???

We like tee and mo (cuteness) and have just discovered tinga tinga (which has the catchiest theme song ever) Smile

grandmasterstitch · 12/10/2019 21:55

*We love lunch time coz it's lunch time
*
I also thought these were the words but kind of thought, fair enough!

Marshmallow91 · 12/10/2019 21:58

@shinyblackdog

"She can tiddle toddle off."

Almost woke my baby laughing at that Grin

Andsoltbegins · 12/10/2019 21:59

What I cannot stand is the female presenters increasingly seeming to have to showcase their ‘talent’
Far too many odd singing ‘sketches’ which are actually verging on embarrassing as you can see they each think they have the best voice/vocal range 😬 my ds loses interest at that point. It’s all a bit cringe and serious

Bring back Andy and Sid and the number rap. They knew they weren’t great but embraced that which made it funny, wasn’t there a velociraptor rap too ? That was hilarious

thenightfury · 12/10/2019 22:00

Why in the world is colly wobble so creepy!! The bloody thing gives me nightmares.
Night garden is a big hit in our house though
Teacup travels is the worst programme ever, forgot about that

Andsoltbegins · 12/10/2019 22:02

It’s collywobbles eyes. Like Hama beads made of gristle tube. I think he’s some kind of distant pastel coloured cousin of It

Andsoltbegins · 12/10/2019 22:03

The way he scuttles sideways during the silly song. If he ran out across my floor one night I think I’d die give me a big hairy house spider instead and that’s coming from an arachnophobia

RebornFlame · 12/10/2019 22:03

Hate:
Justin Fletcher in anything. He’s so soft and wet I bet you could just pull him apart like damp leaves.

The Pinky Ponk, it makes me feel like an asthma attack is imminent.

The fact that I used to like Andy but then MN ruined for me when they showed the likeness of Fatima Whitbread...

Love:

Duggee (nuff said)

Moon and me, it settles my children and moon baby is so adorable.

Katie Morag. I like it. The boys couldn’t give a fuck.

RebornFlame · 12/10/2019 22:05

Colywobbles a girl and I ❤️ Her.

I’ve also had to knit our toy one a bag to sleep in. She is safely in her bag under our stairs as I type Grin

TheQueens · 12/10/2019 22:05

How can a good proportion of you lot fancy Andy? There is nothing attractive about him at all 😆 you have gave me a chuckle though!

If someone could explain Bings situation that would be great, I just cant work it out!

Also I thought it was Peppi 'Manor' so thanks for clearing that up 😂

TheQueens · 12/10/2019 22:06

Fatima Whitbread 😂😂😂

FinTutuola · 12/10/2019 22:07

@AndsoItbegins I completely agree about the singing bits. Evie is the worst by miles, she drives me insane, her warbling version of Wind the Bobbin Up makes me rage.

Andsoltbegins · 12/10/2019 22:10

No Andy isn’t conventionally good looking and in his cleanshaven CBeebies mode he does look like Fatima Whitbread but I think when he’s off duty he has a stubbly beard and ties his hair up, wears nice clothes and looks totally unrecognisable
Not that I think about these things much

thatguiltyfeeling · 12/10/2019 22:12

Can't remember the name but the show about the monkeys... can't figure out if it's his mum or his carer. And he's annoying, first episode I watched was the sandcastle one "gently" whack "gently" whack Fgs just tap the bloody thing.
And Justin's house is awful! Used to love something special when I was little, and actually met Justin. Found out recently he was hungover/quite possibly still drunk at the time.
Luckily baby is too young to actually enjoy anything other than hey duggee and I don't mind that, especially the hippie rabbits 😂

Sewrainbow · 12/10/2019 22:14

I think Abney and Teal is weird; it's a bit 1970s.

I loved Abney and Tesl when it first came out for that very reason! Reminded me of kids tv when I was little and the park looked just my hometown park and the one I took dc1 too wistful

Don't be too quick to diss cbeebies, they move on so quick from it and watch such rubbish nowadays I long for the days when we had two rounds of the same programmes Wink

Littlecaf · 12/10/2019 22:18

I have a girl crush on Maddie Moat. At first I thought she was annoying then I realised I was jealous of her hair, her figure & genuine interest in science. Cowbag.

Love the Darkness on Caties Amaaaazing Machines ......waaaaah!

Never really got Hey Dugee.

The DSs aren’ Into Mr Tumble but they frikkin love Numberblocks and Alphablocks. “you know that you’ve arrived when you’re with number Five!” They can’t get enough of ‘blocks...

Sewrainbow · 12/10/2019 22:20

Can't believe they still use "what's on your plate" they had that 10 years ago....

The had a lovely song for autumn years ago that I still sing to myself now starting "season of mists and mellow fruitfulness" like the poem and then changed it for some other racket that was a shame Sad

SurvivingCBeebies · 12/10/2019 22:21

Oh my god... don't get me started on this.... pretty please.... 🙈🙉🙊

Minai · 12/10/2019 22:29

I love CBeebies. I would happily watch it all day but my 2 year old gets obsessed with a certain show and we have to literally watch that show all the time for a few weeks then he will move onto something else. The variety of CBeebies and the bits in between with the presenters sounds like fucking bliss compared to 2 weeks of non stop Peppa pig or some other awful crap.

Slinkymalinky1 · 12/10/2019 22:34

I like it when Tom Hardy reads me a story Grin Used to like Charlie and Lola, not sure if that's still on as dd is 10 now, so only tune in for Tom Wink
