To have a love hate relationship with CBeebies??

It's not really a question and I'm sorry if this topic has already been done but I really need a rant with some other parents!

What programmes make you want to scratch your eyes out/confuse you/ drive you mad??? Shock

For me:

  1. Topsy and Tim... what's with the weird Stepford wife mum and the super annoying dad...
  2. Mollie and Mac... is that the name?! It's bloody annoying "I have an idea..." gahhhh shut up. Also why do the dad and brother look the same bloody age??
  3. "It's a Bing thing..." NEED I SAY MORE????

The love part of the relationship is that obviously I rely on it heavily as a parent to stop tantrum/meltdown (have a cup of tea...)

WE LOVE DUGGEE ❤️

We do!

And bring back Sid.

shinyblackdog · 12/10/2019 22:38

Oh yes, DD loves both Moon and Me and Night Garden so I just have to suck it up. I think Colly Wobble and Makka Pakka are the same. Or at least related.

On the plus side, no adverts. Very important this time of year.

Millymollymandybestie · 12/10/2019 22:39

I see about bing all the time but my son loves it and there is one episode he laughs through constantly. Smoothies with Brenda the blender and they are proper belly laughs which I just love so I personally have nothing against bing as I love watching ds laugh so much and naked a change from peppa

Bibijayne · 12/10/2019 22:43

I like Molly and Mac, but I quite enjoy overly catchy tunes. Hate Bing. I really wish there were more Hey Duggee. We like Sarah and Duck too.

emwithme · 12/10/2019 22:44

DD (10 months) loves The Baby Club and Baby Jake. She also likes The Tombliboos from ITNG but only them.
We both love The Twirlywoos.
I love Hey Duggee, Tee and Mo, The Go Jetters (DH looks like Grandmaster Glitch when he has a moustache), Molly and Mack (I also can't have an idea without singing) and the Alpha/Numberblocks.

I don't understand the lust for Andy (He's definitely Fatima Whitbread's love child and has the weirdest nostrils) but have recently developed a crush on Line from Swashbuckle.

SoundofSilence · 12/10/2019 22:45

Dip Dap was always my favourite.

peppinanna · 12/10/2019 22:46

My DD loves ITNG and Moon and Me it really helps her settle which The Clangers never does I find that show very strange!

She also loves hey duggee and go jetters which I think are great 😄 the baby club programme is cute too

That gigglebiz is really bloody strange it's like little Britain for kids. Find Molly and Mack really tedious!!

Bibijayne · 12/10/2019 22:47

Oh Tee and Mo is good..we have the iPlayer kids app for long journeys. DS emalso enjoys Patchwork Pals, 64 Zoo Lane and the Clangers.

Babynamechangerr · 12/10/2019 22:58

Yes.... Man up, Bing. Why did the creators of Bing think it was a good idea to create a character who had no positive characteristics at all (whingy, selfish, badly behaved, with a creepy minature minder who no one can ascertain his actual relationship to Bing)? He's a terrible role model.

But yes to Dugee, Tee & Mo and Octonauts, and I'll watch anything with Andy Day in it. I don't mind Peter Rabbit, but if the thumbnail image has got Nutkin in it then we're skipping it.

whereareallmyhairbands · 12/10/2019 23:07

Because all the female presenters love the sound of their voices, all the songs now have become a bloody competition of who can wail the loudest / longest !!!!

Collywobbles eyes SCARE ME

I don't mind Charlie and Lola, Sarah and duck and dugee - the rest can fuck the fuck off

whereareallmyhairbands · 12/10/2019 23:08

Oh ... and tee and mo is lovely

Especially the goodnight song

Oneborneverydecade · 12/10/2019 23:10

I watch Baby Club all prepared to dislike Giovanna Fletcher because she seems successful at everything she tries her hand at, but just can't. She seems nice

I quite like the recent skits from the presenters where they seem to be trying to out sing each other

Hey Duggee is our absolute favourite from DH, to 7yo DS2 to the toddler

And yes to Collywobble - great name but creepy af

MyMumIsADimensionJumper · 12/10/2019 23:12

Topsy and Tim - Robomum and buffoon dad

Waffle dog - I'm sure the dog is actually a sociopath and the neighbour is on acid

Bing - goes straight over my head. I just hear a lot of whining.

The programme with the boy and tiny grandad and eccentric aunt - annoying and full of stereotypes

My Family - gloat fest

By far the worst is the presenters singing songs or even worse, rapping! It's really drama school.

EnglishRose13 · 12/10/2019 23:14

Oops, oh no.

EnglishRose13 · 12/10/2019 23:15

There is something about Andy Day...

PumpkinKing · 12/10/2019 23:32

Because all the female presenters love the sound of their voices, all the songs now have become a bloody competition of who can wail the loudest / longest !!!!

Yes! Bloody Evie singing Old MacDonald Had a Farm like she's on the fucking X Factor. Her and Katy currently sing a duet about Autumn leaves and it's like the battle rounds on The Voice. I do actually really like Katy though ever since the I Can Cook days

DD loves Mr Tumble. He's somehow managed to grow on me yet I couldn't stand him during my CBeebies days with DS.

I like The Baby Club. I get far too involved while watching.

thenightfury · 12/10/2019 23:47

You can't beat Duggee though. Aaaah woof!❤️

Coconutbug · 13/10/2019 00:14

'let is be me, let it be me I really really hope that it's me' and 'ive had an idea'

And bloody wingey Bing and his 'but it's not fair' infact I've stopped my 3 year old watching it because everything's not fair and whatever else he says and I'd have enough 😅

Topsy and Tim - I have a love hate relationship with.
Love that it keeps her quiet, hate that she moans at me that she's not a twin 🙄🙄 and everytime she falls over even on purpose that she needs to go to the hospital like Topsy. In fact nearly kept her off nursery one day after she was clutching her side saying that she's in pain. Wasn't until the door went and she asked me if it was the doctor that I figured out she was just planned.

I think I have a very dramatic child 🤣🤣🤣

I try not to have the tv on all day but when you are just having one of those days, it frustrates me that they play the same programmes in the morning and in the afternoon!!

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 13/10/2019 00:24

Bing makes me want to break things. The clown from Moon and Me is clearly a baby Pennywise and shouldn't be on a children's programme. Ever since my dh described his BiL as Iggle Piggle, I've never been able to watch In the Night Garden without seeing him bobbling about which makes it even more disturbing.

I and dd love Duggie though. Ds loves watching Baby Club with dd although she's a lot less interested.

PixieDustt · 13/10/2019 00:28

Katie Morag annoys the f out of me.

We love bing but the whole 'it's a bing thing' winds me up to the point I find myself sarcastically mimicking it when that bit comes on.
'Wellies, its a bing thing'.

The newest one is the moon baby one. It's weird AF! It actually freaks me out the way they walk/talk and the onion who repeatedly says 'onion, onion'

PixieDustt · 13/10/2019 00:30

Forgot to add we love the baby club and always have a little sing along with it! DS loves Justin too!

Whatsnewpussyhat · 13/10/2019 00:37

I have a 7 year age gap between my kids and Andy was singing the lunchtime song back then.
Surprised Rebecca and Katy are still presenting, they usually kick them to the kerb once over 30!

No one has mentioned Waffle the dog. The parents on that are as weird as topsy and Tim's, and the bloody theme tune!!!

My worst is Yaka Dee. Hate it. My name is Dee I love to yak. Just shut up.

I miss Balamory and the Scottish one with the childminder and all the parents rushing to work. Glad waybaloo has gone though. That was dire.

Moon and me is just weird. A bloody onion carting around a stoned rabbit and pepi nana looked like she's been beaten up with bruises on her face. And they all have stupid bloody names!

PrincessPeach08 · 13/10/2019 00:55

Absolutely get the rage at Justin's house of has to be the most pointless of all cbeebies programmes. My 3 yr old ds loves anything with Andy , Katie's monster machines I think it is? And seen another poster mention dip dab he loved it. My youngest ds 1 loves something special and tellytubbies. Can not stand Bing, Wooly and tig, and the pretentious lunch time one!

CuteOrangeElephant · 13/10/2019 01:12

I can't believe no one has mentioned Yolanda. I have a bit of a crush on her Blush

Love: Sarah and Duck, Octonauts, Hey Duggee, Rara the Lion, Postman Pat

Hate: Bits and Bob, teacup travels, Bing

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 13/10/2019 01:35

Bing - whiney annoying butterfly killer. How flop hasn't cracked yet I'll never know.

Tee and Mo - A little monkey, and his knackered mum. Who clearly wants 5 minutes to herself while Tee sits down and shuts up but it'll never happen so meh (they are cute though)

Topsy and Tim - "This is our -" No. Switches off.

Molly and Mack - I once moaned to DH that the idea song is such a headworm then 30 seconds later she launched into it. Arrrrgggh.

Moon and Me - Collywobble gives DH the creeps.

Peter Rabbit - I just think of the singing guy giving it his all in the vocal booth and how he probably never thought his giddy vocal ambitions would come to belting out Run Rabbit Run.

Catie - The Darkness do a good job on the tune. DH doesn't understand how someone can smile as much as Catie. No one is smilier than Catie. Rebecca is close, but Catie wins.

Katie Morag - Sugary Twee.

Something Special - There was an episode once where Justin made animal noises in the hello song and DH said "he's lost it, look. Justin's finally lost it". Hello hello woof how are you meow...

Waffle - shite.

Justins House - Bearable. We saw an episode the other day where you could see Robert nearly broke character and cracked up which was fun.

Night Garden - who knows what the people in the room were smoking when they came up with that but toddlers seem to love the programme so who cares!

Hey Duggee and Octonauts - good stuff.
