to think the Shark vacuum is pants

It does ok on carpet, filling the hoover everytime. Must be carpet fibres though, surely? No one makes that much dust everyday.

But on hard floor, which my whole downstairs level is, it's appalling. Hate it.

Luckily I got it super cheap on Amazon Prime day. Such a con.

Oh no, I was going to get one this coming black Friday, are there any decent cordless vacuums?!

Findumdum1 · 12/10/2019 12:16

I agree, really regret buying one when annoyed with Dyson customer service.

MereDintofPandiculation · 12/10/2019 12:17

For convenient interchanging of tools and performance on hard floors, the later dysons are hard to beat - I'm basing this on being very satisfied with V6 and reports that V8 and esp V10 are better.

HighOnStilts · 12/10/2019 12:19

I have the Shark lift-away. Honestly it brings the carpet up superbly, but the only negative for me is the weight of it, if I have the suction on full, I feel like my only way of manouvering it on carpet is with two hands which really doesn't work lol.

IfIShouldFallFromGraceWithGod · 12/10/2019 12:20

I love mine and I have hard floors everywhere. Far better than my old dyson and 2 batteries so I can use it when one is charging

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 12/10/2019 12:20

YANBU. I chucked mine and bought a Henry.

EmeraldIsle81 · 12/10/2019 12:20

I really like mine - sorry OP!

CareBear50 · 12/10/2019 12:22

I love my shark liftaway corded. Absolutely brilliant in carpets and hard floors. £150 from Argos.

I had a Dyson cordless.. ...what an utter utter waste of money that was!!!

HeavenlyEyes · 12/10/2019 12:23

I love both of mine - the corded liftaway and the pink cordless. Both amazing.

ShirleyPhallus · 12/10/2019 12:24

I love my Shark lift away, but it has two settings for carpet and hard floors so maybe that’s whats missing from yours?

No13 · 12/10/2019 12:24

They really are shit and don’t get what people see in them. Dysonis far superior. Lifts a lot better

Spanglybangles · 12/10/2019 12:24

I have the liftaway corded with turbo brush. I thinks it’s brilliant and pulls me along on carpet setting. On hard floors not as good in my experience, although adjustment of suction helps, wand release is great for getting to corners and up high. So not perfect but still miles better than my last vacuum.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 12/10/2019 12:25

Never had a problem with mine on hard floors. Only annoying thing about it is how often the filters need cleaning

cosytoaster · 12/10/2019 12:25

I love mine!

tiajon · 12/10/2019 12:27

That's what I have. The Liftaway corded. As I say, it's great on carpet (rubbish on rugs unless you move it quickly over the surface). But on my wood floors it just pushes the bits around.

Previously had a GTech Air Ram which went straight in the bin too.

Miele was the best I've tried - should have gone with that.

LemonGingerCakes · 12/10/2019 12:27

I agree. I think they have great marketing, though...

I am fed up with having to empty the container all the time, yet my carpets don’t seem as clean as that would suggest.

It was worth trying (bought it when on offer), but I won’t get another.

BrokenWing · 12/10/2019 12:27

On nearly every thread saying by a Shark I am nearly the only person saying they are crap! Pleased to see its not just me!!!

Useless on hard floors, hoses block easily (we have a dog, but never had this problem with previous vacuums) and have awkward ends so you cant unblock easily (we need to use pressure washer then leave hose to dry for days).

It falls over constantly when using the hose. I now get ds to hold it for me when using.

littlemissminor · 12/10/2019 12:28

Hate mine, bloody awful, especially on hard floor!
Would never admit it to DP though after convincing him we HAD to have one as they were amazing Confused

tinierclanger · 12/10/2019 12:30

Mines brilliant. We have mostly hard floors and never any kind of problem like what you describe. Maybe it’s the model?

tiajon · 12/10/2019 12:31

@ShirleyPhallus

"I love my Shark lift away, but it has two settings for carpet and hard floors so maybe that’s whats missing from yours?"

I've actually ended up using the 'carpet' setting on my hard floors as it works better than the 'hard floor' setting, which is awful.

OP posts:
tiajon · 12/10/2019 12:34

The 'liftaway' feature is really handy for the stairs. But on the whole very unimpressed with it

OP posts:
middlemuddle · 12/10/2019 12:35

Mine is great (corded liftaway), it gets my dog hair up. He is malting really badly at the moment. I leave my Henry and use it upstairs where my cats mostly hang about, but it's rubbish in comparison.

tiajon · 12/10/2019 12:35

As a pp has said - having to empty a full container everytime suggests it's doing a good job, but looking at the floors/carpets doesn't reflect this afterwards.

OP posts:
CathyorClaire · 12/10/2019 12:35

Dh liked the one I bought for upstairs so much we ended up buying another to replace the ancient Vax downstairs.

I'm pleased with them but maybe my bar is low Grin

Coffeethrowtrampbitch · 12/10/2019 12:37

Mine is really good, my niece is a cleaner and says she loves house sitting for me because she can get her hands on it!
The only issues I have is dd and I have bum and waist length hair and it gets wrapped around the rotating brush and needs cut off and binned every 2-3 uses.

Mind you my last vacuum was a 70 quid vax which wouldn't pick up a thing and weighed a ton, so with 3 kids, 2 cats and a long haired dog maybe I'm just overwhelmed to have something which works properly!
