to think the Shark vacuum is pants

It does ok on carpet, filling the hoover everytime. Must be carpet fibres though, surely? No one makes that much dust everyday.

But on hard floor, which my whole downstairs level is, it's appalling. Hate it.

Luckily I got it super cheap on Amazon Prime day. Such a con.

Completely missing the point but is it a thing to have separate vacuums for upstairs and downstairs? Have I been doing life completely wrong by carrying my hoover up and down the stairs?

Cherrysoup · 12/10/2019 13:49

I think Miele gets the best reviews on Which

Saw a post somewhere this week that said Which says the Dyson is the best cordless vacuum they’ve ever tested.

PrayingandHoping · 12/10/2019 13:53

I have the shark cordless stick (and 2 dogs) and it's brilliant. I had a Miele before and the amount of dust and dog hair it gets out the Miele didn't is amazing.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 12/10/2019 13:55

That the cordless Dyson only does one floor of the house at a time is a plus, for me Grin

Sleepyhead19 · 12/10/2019 13:57

Mine is the best hoover I’ve ever owned! I love it!

PookieDo · 12/10/2019 13:59

I ended up with a corded Vax pick up pet and I use the small angled nozzle on a long tube on hard floors. I think it is inevitable that most large vacuum heads are not ‘universal’ on hard floors and carpets unless you spend £400 on something top of the range, and those are often quite fragile in terms of getting clogged up easily and expensive parts
A corded vacuum always has more suction than a cordless so that’s a good place to start but to do a good job I usually end up with all the attachments and have to switch them around

BustedDreams · 12/10/2019 18:11

Who ever said the only cordless to go for is a Dyson v10 ... well mine is pants. 6 months old, very poor suction !

You’ll never get the power of a corded in a cordless. My corded are Miele and a sebo ... beat dyson pants down!

HandsOffMyRights · 12/10/2019 18:14

My Dyson V6 has been terrible.
Actually it was ok for 6months to a year.

Now it's useless and I was going to get a Shark...

MrsCasares · 12/10/2019 18:20

Lift away corded shark is pretty bad on hard floors. However the duoclean, flexology battery shark is the absolute best on hard floors. I have both.

snowone · 12/10/2019 18:41

I love mine....but it's not cordless

hopityhopity · 12/10/2019 18:48

I have one, corded liftaway, bought it after my Henry packed up. It does the job and no complaints. We have both hard floors and carpet. I wouldn't say it was revolutionary, nor is it terrible. Does the job just as well as my Henry did and the lift away feature is very handy for stairs.

Gertie75 · 12/10/2019 19:09

I've got the corded liftaway and love it, we have 4 dogs so it has to work hard.

I switched after 20 years of Dysons and will never switch back, my only complaint is the small dust bin but I'd rather empty it more often and know it's cleaned the carpet.

Hagbeth · 12/10/2019 19:17

I had a look at Shark corded initially. When I tried it out it was very heavy and cumbersome. I bought a Sebo Felix and it’s great. You can turn off the rotating brush to quickly skim the surface to get long hair strands before using the brush, thus keeping it clog-free. You can also remove the brush from a side hatch and put it in the dishwasher if you like. Best thing is that I only need one flor head, just turning to brush on and off as needed. ❤️

Anybody got the Dyson light ball? Yay/nay?

BrokenWing · 12/10/2019 19:28

Shark tools are cheap and nasty too.

Wizzbangpop · 12/10/2019 19:39

We ordered one. But the battery life wasn't that good. So phoned the really helpful customer services. Would buy another product purely based on the customer service. Returned the hoover and got a fusion instead

ProseccoIsTheAnswerHere · 12/10/2019 20:02

The hair thing - I’m surprised, there’s 3 girls in our house and my constant use of hair extensions and it takes a beating , but still continues to work well with a shit ton of hair tangled

Lindy2 · 12/10/2019 20:07

I only recently got my Shark and it is absolutely brilliant. It has a hard floor and a carpet setting and whizzes over both really easily.

I've never had a Dyson so can't compare it to one of those. Previously I've had a Vax which really wasn't anything like as good as the Shark.

The Shark is a bit on the heavy side but I can vacuum the house in half the time it used to take me.

custardbear · 12/10/2019 20:09

I love my Shark !

beckyvardy · 12/10/2019 20:13

I'm so gutted I have a dyson cordless animal and it's pants. I was going to buy a shark.

Flev · 12/10/2019 20:19

I love my cordless shark - we have a 11 month old who tries to pick up any tiny pieces on the carpet and eat them, so it's lively to gave a vacuum tgaf it's so easy to ref out and quickly whip round the floors with. When the battery is getting low its not as effective, but we gave 2 batteries so can always swap in a new fully charged one.

ViserionTheDragon · 12/10/2019 20:28

I have the latest Dyson and won't use anything else now. It makes hoovering feel like less of a chore.

Proseccoinamug · 12/10/2019 20:33

Oh arse. I have a Miele and was going to buy a shark. I had such high hopes.

isabellerossignol · 12/10/2019 20:35

Mine is amazing. Its the corded lift away and it's so much better than the Dyson that it replaced.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 12/10/2019 20:37

I have the shark liftaway and really like it. I only have hard floor in the kitchen and bathrooms, so I sweep those then use the tube bit off the shark for the edges/skirting boards rather than the whole floor as I just don't like the sound of vacuum on hard floor and also broom is less electric Grin
