Boycott Amazon as they are using Hermes for their deliveries

I've just had a "delivery" from Amazon which was actually done by Hermes. I boycott any company that uses Hermes (looking at you Lakeland) as Hermes just dumps and runs. So yet again a Hermes delivery of the Amazon parcel was dumped on my doorstep, with no ring or knock to say it was here. I had actually cancelled the parcel because it was being delivered by Hermes, but couldn't reject the parcel as I was never given the option.

I have a Prime membership and the delivery has always been great, with a little map saying when they will be delivering to you so you can be in place ready to receive the parcel. But with Hermes I think they deliver by stealth as I have never once been able to see them before them dump the parcel (sometimes just in the front garden).

Other than complain, again, what else can I do? I've already told them that unless they stop delivering my parcels with Hermes that I will not order from them. I feel that if more people complained and refused to use them, then they would stop using this awful company.

Never had an issue with Hermes actually. But only order from Amazon as a very last resort due to their shoddy employment practices.

Hermes is fine, when they use a regular driver who starts to know your address they are just as good as any courier.

Amazon tend to use completely different couriers around here, always a different guy and a different vehicle. I wouldn't mind if it didn't mean having to guess where on earth they could have possibly hidden the parcels they've just delivered.

FrauHaribo · 22/09/2019 15:24

Amazon prices have gone up too much, I only order when they are the cheapest but if they become reasonable again, I would use them a lot more.

If you live in the middle of nowhere (as I do) you would have no option as to which delivery company actually delivered your parcel.

The same woman delivers Hermes/Yodel/UPS so it wouldn't make any difference to me if I boycotted one and not the other(s).

A lot of Amazon stuff just comes via Royal Mail anyway.

If we're out the delivery woman puts our stuff just inside the front door for us.

Great service IMO.

So you won’t boycott Amazon because of their exploitation of their workers; but you’ll happily boycott them because they use a delivery company that makes it inconvenient for you Hmm

This is pretty much my view. It has been years since I ordered from Amazon (though was very annoyed when I got an eBay / Amazon drop ship.)

I'm not being sanctimonious to say I don't use Amazon, I find plenty of other places to get stuff from, Amazon just seems to be the default setting, so takes a bit more googling.

It is the same round me.

Our Hermes delivery lady is quite rude. Once I took a bit long to get to the door (was at the back of the house), she practically threw the parcel at me and left in a huff!

Moreisnnogedag · 22/09/2019 15:39

We are pretty rural and ever so slightly awkward to get to but our delivery guys are great. They usually just open the porch door and leave it there unless it has to be signed for. I believe they’ve got a pretty tight turnaround for deliveries.

Amazon prime is amazing and I wont be giving up my membership unless something much more drastic than your slight inconvenience happens.

Ticklemeelmo · 22/09/2019 15:51

Pretty sure Amazon used to use Yodel for deliveries and they were definitely the type to chuck parcels anywhere. Don't think I've had any issues with Hermes though

PumpkinP · 22/09/2019 17:12

What I find weird is that I have never had any of the problems with Hermes that people claim. They literally never leave anything outside my house and seem to want a signature for everything otherwise they take it with them. I actually wish they would leave it outside

howyoulikemenow · 22/09/2019 17:58

Yodel are AWFUL.

ButterPie1 · 23/09/2019 20:34

Our Hermes lady is fab! She built a fort out of recycling boxes and lids once to keep a parcel ek dry for me 😂
