Boycott Amazon as they are using Hermes for their deliveries

I've just had a "delivery" from Amazon which was actually done by Hermes. I boycott any company that uses Hermes (looking at you Lakeland) as Hermes just dumps and runs. So yet again a Hermes delivery of the Amazon parcel was dumped on my doorstep, with no ring or knock to say it was here. I had actually cancelled the parcel because it was being delivered by Hermes, but couldn't reject the parcel as I was never given the option.

I have a Prime membership and the delivery has always been great, with a little map saying when they will be delivering to you so you can be in place ready to receive the parcel. But with Hermes I think they deliver by stealth as I have never once been able to see them before them dump the parcel (sometimes just in the front garden).

Other than complain, again, what else can I do? I've already told them that unless they stop delivering my parcels with Hermes that I will not order from them. I feel that if more people complained and refused to use them, then they would stop using this awful company.

I'm just now waiting for a brush I ordered from Amazon. Love our Hermes guy, give him a wee tip at Xmas (and the postie).

RedSheep73 · 22/09/2019 13:47

Complain complain complain and use Amazon lockers.

Rosere · 22/09/2019 13:47

Our local hermes delivery service was in fairness awful. Used give up on anything they delivered as they left a card without ever ringing a bell or checking you were in, and disappearung to their unfindable hideout with your parcel.

However, I think that delivery man has left. And gone to work for Amazon😂😂😂 find my parcels absolutely everywhere except the nominated spot. Its just pot luck sadly when it comes to delivery

longearedbat · 22/09/2019 13:53

Our local Hermes lady is wonderful and my dog loves her (always thrilled to see her). Never had a problem with any delivery.

Cohle · 22/09/2019 13:56

I don't understand why you think a parcel being left on your doorstep ("a Hermes delivery of the Amazon parcel was dumped on my doorstep") is bad enough service to warrant boycotting them yourself let alone expecting other people to do the same to be honest.

WhoCaresWins01 · 22/09/2019 13:59

My Hermes delivery driver is far better than some of the amazon drivers that have delivered.
Amazon often use Hermes - it's nothing new.

MonicaGB · 22/09/2019 14:07

Oh well, looks like I've started a Hermes love in, when everything else I'm reading on the internet agrees that they are a pretty horrendous delivery company. I will continue to avoid them as I can't get my Hermes delivery person to not abandon the parcels and the rest of you can continue loving your delivery drivers.

Blah! Hermes. Whenever I buy something and see its coming with them, I know I'm in for a battle. They don't do well with flats, even massive listed buildings with great big signs in the middle of a high street.

KatherineJaneway · 22/09/2019 14:09

Hermes round here is really good. No complaints. ParcelForce however...Angry

DownstairsMixUp · 22/09/2019 14:10

I love Hermes. It's Yodel and royal mail who are wanky here

Iwantacookie · 22/09/2019 14:11

Hermes delivered my studio parcel yesterday no issues. Lovely chap who does it.

BishBashBoshy · 22/09/2019 14:18

My hermes driver is alright. He 's rude and grumpy but leaves his mobile number so you can get the parcel.

Yodel on the other hand... don't bother leaving cards but do leave the parcel with random people. Online "help" are useless and the last time we had a parcel delivered by them, they couldn't tell me where it was and called me a liar when I said wasn't in one of the 3 places their systems said it was. They refused to help and said it was nothing to do with them.

Really quite shocked the responses on this thread, is Hermes PR on the loose? I think it's pretty well known that Hermes is utter shite.
YANBU OP, I've also boycotted retailers using them with the occasional few slipping through the net, and yes it's a guaranteed stressful struggle every fucking time.

Heyboyo · 22/09/2019 14:29

Mine is great

FrangipaniBlue · 22/09/2019 14:34

My local Hermes guy is fab, takes ours to PILs round the corner if we aren't in or even let's us go collect it from his house 10 minutes from mine if we miss him!

I've never yet had an Amazon Prime delivery come by Hermes though...... Monday - Saturday they come Royal Mail and Sunday's it's always DPD

Reallynowdear · 22/09/2019 14:35

My Hermes lady is great.

However I have sent a few things via them and had a few problems so always send Royal Mail where possible now.

As with most things in life, swings and roundabouts.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 22/09/2019 14:39

The Hermes guy who delivers to dh's work is fantastic but given that the whole company get their parcels delivered to work, he spends a lot of time there.

The Hermes people who deliver to our house are utterly awful (which is why all our parcels go to dh's work).

Hermes here is brilliant, the bloke lives in our village and he's a star. Amazon is pretty good here too, and they occasionally use Hermes, normally around Christmas, when their own drivers are flooded out.

Personally I avoid any company that uses Yodel or TNT as they are shockingly bad round here. The trouble is we're rural and not really on the way to anywhere, so to save themselves the time of driving out here they give it the old 'we tried to deliver' when they've not been within 5 miles of my house.

OMGshefoundmeout · 22/09/2019 14:43

Our Hermes driver is great. I see her so often we are on first name terms. I don’t like the drivers actually employed by Amazon, they are very impatient, hammering and banging on the door if I don’t answer it as speedily as they’d like.

PregnantOnPurpose · 22/09/2019 14:44

I message my local Hermes lady when I need something pronto. She not only comes to my house as soon as I message, she will also wait for me to meet her in her next area if I’m desperate. She’s brilliant.

Like other posters that's not my experience
Now Yodel on the other hand......

WeAreStardustWeAreGolden · 22/09/2019 14:49

I luffs my Mr Hermes

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 22/09/2019 14:51

Never had an issue with them either and not much would make me cancel my Amazon account.

iMatter · 22/09/2019 15:13

I'm always delighted when a company uses Hermes. Our Hermes bloke is brilliant (and always gives my dog a biscuit...)

Rezie · 22/09/2019 15:17

I avoid any company that uses Hermes. Yet to have a good experience. I try to use lockers whenever possible since deliveries most often are inconvenient but Hermes is really bad.
