Boycott Amazon as they are using Hermes for their deliveries

I've just had a "delivery" from Amazon which was actually done by Hermes. I boycott any company that uses Hermes (looking at you Lakeland) as Hermes just dumps and runs. So yet again a Hermes delivery of the Amazon parcel was dumped on my doorstep, with no ring or knock to say it was here. I had actually cancelled the parcel because it was being delivered by Hermes, but couldn't reject the parcel as I was never given the option.

I have a Prime membership and the delivery has always been great, with a little map saying when they will be delivering to you so you can be in place ready to receive the parcel. But with Hermes I think they deliver by stealth as I have never once been able to see them before them dump the parcel (sometimes just in the front garden).

Other than complain, again, what else can I do? I've already told them that unless they stop delivering my parcels with Hermes that I will not order from them. I feel that if more people complained and refused to use them, then they would stop using this awful company.

My Hermes guy is great, always puts the parcel in to my hands!

MonicaGB · 22/09/2019 13:08

My Hermes delivery person must be a ghost then as I have never see them. I think they must just throw the parcels from their van, as I never even heard it pull up.

Lolling at you and your personal boycott

Lockheart · 22/09/2019 13:09

Well what do you want people to say OP?

If you boycott companies that use Hermes, you'll need to boycott Amazon.

If you need to use Amazon, then you have to accept that your delivery might be made by Hermes.

I have no problem with the vast majority of my deliveries. If Hermes were truly that awful they wouldn't be able to operate a successful business. They have a bad reputation but you never hear stories about the numerous (hundreds of thousands?) of perfectly straightforward deliveries they make every day.

If your local Hermes driver is shit then you need to take that up with Hermes, not Amazon.

KUGA · 22/09/2019 13:10

Our Hermes service team are brilliant.

Goatrider · 22/09/2019 13:11

What sort of things are you ordering? There must be other online providers

TheAlternativeTentacle · 22/09/2019 13:11

did you get your parcel though?

mrsmuddlepies · 22/09/2019 13:16

Another one who finds Hermes brilliant. They always put item in our safe place. Excellent service

Mythreefavouritethings · 22/09/2019 13:16

No thank you, I will make my decisions based on my experiences. We have a great delivery guy and I am not taking work away from him on the basis of your problems. I definitely agree with your stance if your driver(s) is/are poor, but I’m quite happy. This is between you and Hermes.

MonicaGB · 22/09/2019 13:18

I did get the parcel, although it was a bit soggy after I extracted it from the front garden. I ordered a variety of things which would involve me going to a number of shops to get. So I'll just have to hold on until I'm well enough to leave the house for things in future.

I have previously complained to Hermes about my delivery driver but as I intermittently order somethings which get delivered using them and the same things keep happening, Hermes are just not dealing with the problem.

The whole thing is just irritating. Amazon's customer services were good though.

My Hermes lady is brilliant and I know she will always deliver.

timshelthechoice · 22/09/2019 13:28

Cut off your nose to spite your face then, the courier depends on whom the seller uses. I buy loads from Amazon as we are rural.

DamnShesaSexyChick · 22/09/2019 13:30

My local Hermes woman is fab

bombomboobah · 22/09/2019 13:30

I don't think we should necessarily boycott Amazon but we need to hold their feet to the fire

SuperSara · 22/09/2019 13:34

@MonicaGB

*have cancelled my prime membership and will not use them in future..."

I'm sure they'll be devastated. Like the rest of us.

BrokenWing · 22/09/2019 13:36

My Hermes guy is also really good. He purposely delivers later in the day, into evening as he gets more people at home at those times. He would never leave a parcel outside even when it is something weather proof and I have requested to chuck over fence he has tried NDN instead.

SmudgeButt · 22/09/2019 13:38

@MonicaGB

Is the actual problem that as you are housebound you are unable to get out of the door to get the parcel? If that is the case then maybe that needs to be on the instructions for delivery?

I must admit I've used Amazon just 2 or 3 times but use other companies and they always have an delivery instructions option.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 22/09/2019 13:39

There are always other options than Amazon but they'll possibly cost more or be slower delivery.

I've got no problem with Hermes. My delivery lady is a gem.

tillytrotter1 · 22/09/2019 13:40

You really expect everyone to boycott a company with whom you've had poor experiences?? Such a level of arrogance is amazing.

SilverySurfer · 22/09/2019 13:42

I have cancelled my prime membership and will not use them in future

I'm sure Amazon are devastated. Still, there are plenty of us who don't have a problem with Hermes drivers and who will continue to use Amazon.

You're being a bit of a megalomaniac if you think that we will inconvenience ourselves by boycotting them because you don't like it.

Kitsandkids · 22/09/2019 13:42

Some people don’t understand as they have good Hermes delivery people. My Hermes guy is rubbish. I’ve had a parcel returned to sender before because I had no way of getting in touch with the delivery guy and customer service was worse than useless. They are a crap company in that they don’t ensure that their staff are all adequately trained. Sometimes there are people that naturally are good at the job. But there are lots that aren’t

Redglitter · 22/09/2019 13:43

You feel free to boycott them but you csnt seriously expect anyone else to. My Amazon orders come from a variety of couriers it's not like you know when you place the order wholl deliver it.

Cancelling Prime is up to you but it's not going to bother anyone

bombomboobah · 22/09/2019 13:43

Amazon is able to provide cheap goods and fast delivery but the 'costs' of doing this are outsourced

Chloemol · 22/09/2019 13:44

Never had a problem other than a box they collected went missing and no issue in getting reimbursement from them. Our local driver is great

bombomboobah · 22/09/2019 13:44

a bit like the factory that is able to dump all its toxic waste because it doesn't have to pay for the cost of cleaning up, but the people who live in the area all get sick
